Most artists improve, even when they're older and have worked decades professionally. Look at Guezav of Ankama. Guy is in his 40s and still gets better.
JollyJack is basically a non-shitty version of Inflatibear Dobson.

I'd use Sluggy Freelance as an example of someone who's been drawing a webcomic for 21 years and barely shows any artistic improvement.

You could use the excuse that uploading a comic daily for 21 years pretty much requires sacrificing quality for quantity, but after two decades you'd figure Pete would get better at his rush jobs. It's like falling into a habit.

It's actually harder to keep a consistent style. You're just assuming it's not intentional because it's by a webcomic artists and not one of the mainstream guys you fanwank over.

Putting thoughts, ideas, concepts and opinions into visual form IS kinda what cartoonists do.

Here's a very smple reason they haven't fucked yet: JJ isn't a romance writer, and keeping the strip going while developing a relationship between two character not only is beyond is skill and a writer but it would change the tone of the comic too much.

So they'll NEVER fuck, give up on it. At best, they'll kiss on the very last strip.

At least he isn't at dobson or Willis levels.

If he were hiding hard anatomy or covering up with detail like Liefeld and other such artists, you'd have something to crit about. But I've seen JJ tackle a lot of different angles and designs and remain consistent, so it's an intentional.
