Hey, wasn't lucy steaming drawing Sarah? How's that going?

Also, didn't earthfeild say something about drawing lewds of vultaria? is that still a thing that's happening?

A little update on my cover.

>What kind of music would you associate with your comic, or your characters?
For my villain "When I Rule The World" by Bill Borman

>Music

Dr. Benton:youtube.com/watch?v=1QSsh5HQHj8

Some smooth swing for the old timer with still a little pep to it.

Thread question: What kind of music would you associate with your comic, or your characters?
Mostly adventure-ish vibe songs. My favorite song to listen to while drawing my comic is "Shin takarajima" by sakanaction. I literally have a folder full of different versions of this one song. I have an autistic love for it. Ill spare you of the weebshit original and post this version.
youtube.com/watch?v=uyWpj118ddQ

Backdrop of story
>Ancient battle between Chinese soul vampires and righteous monks made it's way to the US 100 years ago, establishing a secret order of fighters that track them down and stop them

>On the surface the comic is about a roadtrip between 4 teenage guys, with a monster-of-the-week style set up featuring new bad guys with different fighting styles and featuring a variety of American locales such as suburbs, big cities, rural towns, port towns and ghettos.

>Pokes fun of and celebrates standard tropes/cliches of American action-based movies and battle shonen of Japan while illustrating different real-life martial arts and encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle of pursuing your dreams

>On a deeper level the "souls" that are being stolen represents everyday passions and drives while the 'vampires' are representations of vague real life concepts that can stop a person from pursuing their dreams such as depression, certain obligations, poor environments, and negative individuals

I already know how I'd like to proceed with this idea, but I'd love to hear any ideas/opinions you may have about the concept

The official theme song to Kiwi Day is world 4's music from Super Mario Land. I don't know why..
Logically N should have its own theme but I'm not as keen on hijacking something else anymore. I'd wanna write my own. It's definitely be something like Yamerarenai though.

ive been developing a project im hoping to launch soon that deals with spooky aesthetics aimed towards adolescences and preteens, but the announcement for The Owl House is quite a kicker to the ambition, especially since its heavily influenced by classic Disney story telling

>Heavily influenced by classic Disney story telling
Explain. Because so far it seems Amulet with a few basic magical girl touches.

Recently, I have been mainly brainstorming Rococo's stuff to the soundtrack of Mario Galaxy, because its the kind of "feeling" I want to get to when it comes to the type of heroicism I want to express for this character.

And other stuff

I took the leap and decided to finally start up a webcomic. Here's the wip of the first page. I have a newfound respect for all those artists who belt out three strips a week.

>Otto has 1940's swing
>Everyone else has vidya music or pop
Goddamn, he's making the rest of you look like children.

I wish I was still young. I wouldn't be exhausted all the time.

Cute! Are you going to keep doing Rococo while you do the betaman stuff?

a resize would be appreciated
I listen to music from 20 years before I was born, but swing? gross, dude.

Otto confirmed for grandpa

I like your line art, its very clean looking. However you should consider showing your character from other angles than 3/4. And even if your decide to go with just that, at least have them face to the left instead of the right in at least one of the panels. Having the character at the same angle facing the same way in all the panels is not very interesting to look at..

You can use this to give the page a certain feel of course, but I don't think that is what you were going for.

epilouge page in case people didn't see it last thread.

On second thought, the page flow is pretty good as it is, and it might help when you get the panel in the middle done. But yeah those are my two cents.

I actually had trouble telling it was the same character. Sometimes looks like a girl, sometimes a boy. Age seems to jump all over the place. It's a great style and I love the designs, but hopefully things like the nosebridge length can be kept more consistent in the future.

Huh... I actually didn't even notice she was facing the same way in every shot. Okay yeah next page I'll try and vary up the shots a bit. Thanks for the tip man.

Interesting. Okay neat, I've never really had to draw a character multiple times like this. I'll definitely try to think about character consistency. I think consistency will come after I draw her a few hundred times. For now I'll use a reference to model off of.

Yeah consistency is really hard. Practice will help

>What kind of music would you associate with your comic, or your characters?

For Laserwing I want to have every character have basically their own playlist but I never get around to making one. Tony is the insufferable "I only listen to anime/video game music and Queen" nerdling, Matt is literally Mr. Roboto and Sunglasses at Night on an infinite alternating loop, Josh is the first two Simple Plan albums, Mistaire is general 80s danceable pop. Pauline is Lita Ford.

Pic unrelated: Look who's dicking around in Manga Studio 4

I meant my project is inspired by the way classic Disney really puts emphasis on the main character and how it reacts and grows through the journey, but at the same time they still carry their traits that define them as a person and such

this isn't my art, but its spooky

>I will never jam out with Tony and Matt and their fantastic taste
Oh hey that looks great. What version of clipstudio does that equate to? Just the latest?

...

Huh, last thread died, might as well post this again.

Ooh she thique

Apparently Manga Studio 4 came out in 2007. I got it as a gift a long time ago but never really forced myself to learn it.

Huh, okay. So basically you could presumably update it then

>What kind of music would you associate with your comic?

youtube.com/watch?v=7aZQrzjxu5w

It's a more down-to-earth comic about fighting in the streets. I really dig the grundgy/synthetic sound of the tekken 3 soundtrack. Wish I could figure out the exact genre

>Thread Question: What kind of music would you associate with your comic, or your characters?
I'd go with jazz. It gives off that nice "feel-good" sense of atmosphere - especially when you have a talented singer to accompany the band.

>realize I should be fucking embarrassed at the amount of time I've spent working on project for how generic and bad it is

This should motivate me to make something better but I just feel like admitting to myself I'm a NGMI and giving up trying to see a comic through

What, do they offer you free upgrades if you already own an older version or something?

Glad you like her, better get in line.

posting my comic.

I mean, updates at least. They might only be updates to the same version but I would at least check. I bought clipstudio years ago and it's still giving me free updates.

Oh shit, atleast link the comic you fag

How would you design 2 species that are chaos and order respectively?

the chaos critter should have multiramous (branching) limbs and maybe haphazard bits of hair and other mismatched integument. Its digestive system would be long and circuitous, crossing back over itself multiple times, with several instances of the contents backing up like a cow's cud, and maybe changing direction if it's also branched.
an order creature would just be a sphere, wouldn't it? Or something with radial symmetry like a starfish. Starfish have one-ended digestion, that's pretty orderly. It depends on the type of order. if you think of order like counting-in-order, nothing's more orderly than a worm.

Chaos: lump of goo with bones and shit sticking out. They absorb nearly anything and grow bigger and more distorted. Also gives birth and stuff.

Order: mechanical beings with boxy body and cranes and stuff coming off its back. They destroy everything that isnt "normal" to their standards

Make it so both are made artificially. Cus theres no way for them to exist other wise.

Cats and dogs already exist, bruh

>Ryo Fukui
Holy shit dude! That's some fine music.

...

double dosage for today

If it's a period piece, you'll need to do your research, both of the physical locations and the social customs and attitudes (particularly prejudice).

Also, do your research on Chinese immigrants coming to America particulary during the 19th Century (when immigrants from all over the world were hoping to strike it lucky during the Gold Rush and/or working on the railroads).

ClipStudio goes on sale at various times during the year. You can often get a good deal then. Start saving your pennies and keep an eye on the website.
Someone usually announces when a sale happens in these threads.

Hi guys i just uploaded my comics and wanted to shill!

Post-punk, goth and folk-rock accordingly. I'm a sucker for an old school grim-ish music, like Joy Division, Bauhaus, B-52's, etc.

How can I represent Christianity in a positive way?

I am writing a comic where every religion is real and divine beings are majorly influential in everyday life. No, supernatural stuff isn't a secret, the human world and the spirit community coexist in the open. A major theme I want to tackle is that good and evil can come from any place, belief, set of circumstances or environment, and I want to be accurate to the Holy Bible. I'm not afraid to show that a lot of gods can be antagonistic, and have thought of making it so that the Judeo-Christian God has three split personalities through Yahweh, Jehovah and Allah.

Although I want to be accurate to mythology and religion, I don't want to be a dick. I don't want to shit on the Abrahamic religions, but I don't want to praise them, either. I really liked how Castlevania did it where a demon tells that corrupt priest that his work "made God puke."

you need allegories. just straight up having religious figures appear is too heavy handed and will fail

RESEARCH RESEARCH AND RESEARCH.

seriously. read a bunch of books on religion. read like at least 4

So its probably been done before, but I'm brainstorming a slice of life webcomic where the main character has to live together with monsters or aliens. What kind of stuff do people like seeing in such comics? I don't think I'll go with the monstergirl route but there might be one or two of those since Ik now people like there waifu characters.

The protagonist having sex with the monsters. They don't have to be sexy monsters, as long as the main dude gets his dick wet.

But what if the guy is living with guy monsters? I do have some ideas for girl mosnters though.

Did I say female?

Sorry I just assumed you wanted the main guy to have sex with cute girl monsters.

NEW DOLL FEVER UPDATE
dollfever.net/post/171237706887

Just show the characters living life with its ups and downs. Since monsters are gonna be a part of this (and I'm guessing you mean REAL monsters, not the monster girl stuff I use), have them interact in their own special way because of their physiology.

I'll have normal monsters, but also the cute monstergirl variety since I like both types. They are both fun to brainstorm designs and ideas for.

I could see that, a cute monster girl playing video games with some creepy looking monster straight out of Lovecraft.

>worshiping yahweh

I fear the day he draws porn of mine

Who are you, user?

Did Lucy ever finish the Sarah pic?

Keep 'em coming.

/hyw/ mugen fighting game when?

this. that's an extremely interesting period in history. It was the first time immigration was so numerous and rapid that foreigners outnumbered "real" americans in a ton of populous areas, but they were also universally useful, hardworking people trying their best and they built a ton of neat stuff like railroads and skyscrapers. Really that entire time from the end of the civil war to the end of WW2 was packed with interesting stuff with regards to immigints.

Real talk? If you're going pan-abrahamic like that, you both can't go right and can't go wrong.
I would personally have the "real" Yahweh contrasted with exaggerated but still fictional fantasy-versions of catholicism, orthodox judaism, and islam, with the understanding that one slapped his name on a bunch of bullshit, one stopped USING his name entirely and became all about rules that they increasingly made up, and one decided to rewrite the whole thing and be kookygonuts. Just for fairness you could put in fantasy mormons too.
Just once I want to see this kind of fantasy religion thing take a stance that there is such a thing as worshipping the right god the wrong way, not end up that god is some extradimensional alien that cares little for people, or a space cloud, or a bored guy who doesn't care because all religions are "pretty close, good enough." I want to see a god that has a definite intention, that only a tiny number of people ever got right, even though he went out of his way to make sure the real instruction book was always available.

I'm doing something similar. As much as you research a religion, you may never fully understand it in the way a person who was raised in it can. You have to keep in mind that there are so many interpretations and sects and denominations in each religion that you will in fact insult someone regardless of how positively you try to represent the religion. I recommend something along idea which is what I'm doing personally. It will save your ass. Making characters similar but not quite like the figures and entities in religion will save you a lot of grief and give you room to make creative liberties while more perspective audience members can read between the lines.

You're right that it's been overdone, but there's lots of room left to make it unique. My suggestions are that he is either a) overly subservient due to being kind of scared of the monsters (and they pay a lot of the rent or otherwise provide useful services that he, as a mere human, can't really live up to), b) doing most of the work and paying most of the rent because the monsters are lazy freeloaders (and maybe too scary to pressure) , and/or c) some combination of the others where he's part of government-sponsored monster housing as a program that gives you a cheap/free apartment in exchange for fostering monster-human relations in the most straightforward manner (after school integration fails to do the job)
If you want to spin on the typical sexy monster waifu thing, it could be a human girl living with a bunch of monsters who could easily rape the shit out of her, but they don't because you don't just DO that in a place where you LIVE, even if you probably could, and also maybe she's a little turned on by them, but nothing actually happens in that regard, and it's just a normal story.

I'm impatiently waiting my turn.
Is he posting these anywhere?

Yeah, everyone loved that Sealab episode where it was "Alvistime" and they had hilarious stand-in versions of all the religions. The only part that was annoying was the smug liberal offendedness being treated like it was the sane option, and that's pure politics, not really religion-related.

For some reasons, russian dudes are often into post-punk.

Problematically politics and religion have become pretty intertwined in the modern political climate. It's kinda to the point where some of my 'god' characters are more standins for ideologies like communism rather than religion.

Also watch some Ryan Reeves and Religion For Breakfast videos, they deal with historical Christianity.

More like one god character is sick of people praying to them for help and is sad for them, tries to develop a world without pain and totally equal, comes to a conclusion that free will, biology as it is, and differences are incongruous with a world without pain or conflict. They decide to strip people of genders, opinion, perpespctive and everything just to that everyone can be happy and chaos wouldn't exist. They attempt to get other gods and humans on board, fail, and go 'i heard your prayers and you rejected the solution to your problem, from now on fuck you all'.

The issue is if you try to depict god accurately to the bible you will look like you're lambasting christianity so you have to show an idealized made up version

this is adorable.

I seem to recall when Life of Brian was being written, the Pythons said they did their research and found that Christ just wasn't funny. He didn't do anything wrong, there was nothing to make fun of. So they lampooned literally every other thing in that story, the ridiculousness of first-century Judea, the Romans, the ultra-orthodox Jewish authorities drunk on the tiny bit of power the Romans let them hold onto, the people clamoring for a messiah, the wannabe messiahs on every street corner, each one with something to preach, the terrorist groups all wanting to overthrow Roman rule but being too fractured to do anything.. T'was hilarious. You've just gotta look for the bits you want to use to accomplish the story you want to tell, and not use the bits that don't work for it.

Making a pixel art 3v3 fighting game picture for hyw. Who would you main? and who wants in on the hud? I need more characters for it.

cute!

Put Wilfreda the Wanna-Be Witch on the right and Chupacabro on the Left. Maybe Pike from Merchant and Pike as well?

>Wilfreda the Wanna-Be Witch
thats mitch's comic right? will def throw that in
>Pike
already being thrown in, along with charah from cult control

>thats mitch's comic right?
nah, some Mexican guy. Chupacabro is from Mitch's comic

>Chupacabro
He is too tough.

I need to catch up on a lot of the comics from here.

bro you are playing right into my favorite things. There is no amount of inclusion in that I would not approve.
But in terms of whom I'd main, I mean shit, Skalmold and Skeggold if they had some kind of team attack, and Richard for sure. He'd be that one character whose hitbox is too low to hit. Fuckin' Oddjob that shit.
