What’s the point? We already know what happens after. Aang is made a fuck-up and his spirit (and every Avatar spirit) is destroyed. But it’s okay because lesbians!

Also they already ruined the Zuko’s mother reveal.

What is left to beat out of this dead horse?

>dealing with a conflict between benders and non-benders in a booming industrial town.

a boring plot no one asked for apparently

>What is left to beat out of this dead horse?

Who knows?
The plot to the new comic series is about Team Avatar dealing with a conflict between benders and non-benders in an industrial city. That's literally what it says.

It's almost impossible to come up with a potential storyline more lazy and unnecessary. We've literally already scene how that exact scenario plays out, what more is there to get over retreading that ground?

The anthology book is more interesting because at least there's more likely to be some fresh ideas there.

Neat. I just finished rewatching the series and I was feeling nostalgic. I hope the art and the plot gets better than in the last comics, which I don't even remember wtf was going on (I think Zuko's mom changed her face or something).

On the one hand it isnt more korra
On the other hand the korra comics were just innofensively bland instead of shit like the previous atla comics

>because lesbians!
#MakeKorraBiWithASlopeForHetero

Why not do something original with an Avatar comic? Maybe have a crossover with a different series? Go nuts or something.

It's amazing how the comics made me agree with ozai banishing zuko, he's a pussy and a shitty king holy shit

The point is that nobody likes Korra and the gAang need to be ruined next

Remember that obscure nick mag comic with a qt shadowbender

Then why not do a comic about a past Avatar? Do something more original!

I'm surprised they haven't done the obvious thing and show when the Exbendables went up against Aang and Co..

Did the lesbo Korra comic get cancelled already? Not that it was anything more than a useless deadpan yuri fanfic anyway.

Wasn’t it a mini?

Yea. Theres one more book left to come out. Lots of anons like to talk put of their asses on this board.

Literally the only thing I ever read these comics for was Gene Yang shipping Zuko and Suki.

Same

Art looks nice.

>the gAang need to be ruined next
but they already were in the past comics

Who gives a fuck? We getting a blu-ray nothing else Avatar related matters.

Holy shit, you are salty.

But who is writing it?

>Literally the only thing I ever read these comics for was Gene Yang shipping Zuko and Azula

Fixed.

Faith Erin Hicks will be replacing Yang on writing duties.

Is gurihiru still on it?

>Faith Erin Hicks
Didn't she just write some pseudo-avatar shit recently?

Can't be worse than Yang, can it?

You rang?

Yeah yeah but has nobody thought already about the new porn?

Well... the most best crossover i think actually paired with Avatar...
It's Final Fantasy, no doubt

OP should have just posted the actual information.

New writer, new artist.

Only in that it uses Asian culture as a base. That could match a million stories.

>What is left to beat out of this dead horse?

Really the only thing left to do is to give Azula a strained and unsatisfying conclusion to her story.

Given that she isn't even mentioned by the time LoK rolls around, it probably involves her dying like a bitch after failing to assassinate Zuko or Aang. Dollars to donuts says she falls off a cliff or something.

She wants to help Zuko. She's just doing it in her own fucked up way.

when Yang was writing it he dealt with issues like decolonization and national identity in outlying Earth Kingdom regions where many of the occupants don't even remember a time they weren't part of the Fire Nation. They were the kind of heavier themes the show itself sort of touched on. Hopefully it doesn't dive right into "suddenly lesbians are an oppressed minority" like the Korra comics.

>No Gurihiru

THIS

How about a crossover with the Nick 2012 TMNT? They have a comic. And they had a cool crossover with BTAS.

Changed her face and erased her memories. It was a bad comic and bad reveal to a long-waiting story.

Agreed. I'm just a martial art faggot who likes all the fucking fights styles, and a complete faggot when in comes to shipping. I want some Tokka for fucks sake.

>do something original
>crossover

why don't they just fucking move on to the Gaang being adults? are they committed to having nothing interesting happen in any of the comics?

the Promise was the only decent one, because it actually expanded and questioned aspects of the world and gave Ozai an actual personality (which Yang and/or Bryke proceeded to fuck up). none of the other ones have done that and one of them is just a mini-version of something that happens in Korra (which looks to be the case with this new comic as well).

they had an opportunity with this format to expand the world in a meaningful way and provide interesting counterpoints to the original series, to create depth in a way that the show couldn't or didn't have time to. they threw that out the window, so what's the fucking point? at least if they time skipped to the Gaang's adulthood then they'd have to tackle more complex issues instead of this cookie cutter shit that Korra already covered.

>Team Avatar dealing with a conflict between benders and non-benders in an industrial city
So season one of Korra?

>Imbalance

So, a puberty story?

Oops, they forgot Suki was on team Avatar. I also forgot at this point desu.

I'd watch it.

These are so mediocre, but I can't help myself from wanting more.

>Finally set up a scenario where the comics can have a clear, recurring villain in the form of Azula (even though it was admittedly poorly done)
>completely abandon that storyline for 3 years

I have no idea what the point of these comics are

Avatar Super when?
Korra was literally the GT of Avatar?

art looks nice

you sound retarded

why do some idiots on here think because they cry and bitch everybody hates the comics

I don't, got a link?

Because hate is the easiest emotion.

aang's eyes are really spoopy

nu uh

I've just rewatched ATLA and I'm about to watch TLOK, which I kind of avoided at the first because my country's dub sucked but continued avoiding after I what I heard about it on the internet, but now I think it's time I face my fears and watch what was done to my beloved franchise. But I know next to nothing about the comics, tell me, is there any worthwhile ones out there? About adventures, action and lore with little to none relationship drama?

>dealing with a conflict between benders and non-benders in an industrial city

>But I know next to nothing about the comics, tell me, is there any worthwhile ones out there? About adventures, action and lore with little to none relationship drama?
>nope.jpg
There is a ton of family drama (Fire, Water and Beifong) and non-romantic relationship drama (mainly Zuko/Aang working together on the new world order), and there is even some teenage love-triangle crap with Zuko/Mai/Donut Steel. Lore, action and adventure are all mediocre to shit.

Because it wouldn't sell. They're just going to milk Korra for the three tumblrdykes that still care about it and ATLA for the general audience.

>no Zuzu
Why can't they have the whole gaang together?

...

He's got a job. He can't afford to be a bum and tag along with Aang.

That happens when like twelve years before LoK, they still want to show the gaang in their teens

There just wasn't any way to handle that in a way that could make for a good long story. From what Ozai said in the series, it should have just ended with Zuko walking into the village where she was hiding.

She is on team Avatar but she isn't a main character

Did Sokka and Suki even had children? Why they didn;t give much focus on them? Why is LoK so lacklusting?

I guess because they were trying to avoid every relevant adult character be related to the gaang in some way.

makes sense but is impossible to ignore Aang or pretend he is no longer relevant when he was part of Korra. So many weird decisions

>something original with an Avatar comic
use that team of fanmade benders

>Is gurihiru still on it?
a few months back they tweeted "this is our final contribution to the Avatar universe" i.e. don't expect them back

>Did Sokka and Suki even had children
They outright stated in the show that Sokka died a loner with no offspring. It's also reasonably obvious that Toph fucked him and we have Su Yin as the result (with Lin being Aang's bastard daughter as well).

There's a popular fan theory that Varrick might be one of Sokka's other descendants considering the personality and tactical smarts.

So, basically LoK before Korra? Lame.

>They outright stated in the show that Sokka died a loner with no offspring
lame
>It's also reasonably obvious that Toph fucked him and we have Su Yin as the result (with Lin being Aang's bastard daughter as well).
Man, Toph ended up winning
>There's a popular fan theory that Varrick might be one of Sokka's other descendants considering the personality and tactical smarts.
I can buy that theory, but it could also be a way for the writers to add a Sokka since Bolin end up being a retarded Sokka

>and his spirit (and every Avatar spirit) is destroyed.
false

Wasn't Lin Zuko's?

They outright stated in the show that Sokka died a loner with no offspring

What the hell happened to Suki?

They never stated anything, user is talking out of his ass.

>oh you liked Sokka? well he died as a loner and never raised a family and probably was bisexual lmao
>You want Aang back and see more of Roku, Kiyoshi, Yang Chen and the rest when you have Korra already? Well we are going to erase every single past Avatar so you have Korra, now she is the ONLY avatar you're allowed to like
>You were a Kataang shipper? Well Aang died, didn't repopulate the airbenders
>Toph? who's that? oh, she is a hermit now

I get the feeling they didn't like anyone from ATLA so they gave them all a miserable ending

Well there goes the one reason to read these. Not like the writing will be any different, given how intense the ghostwriting and editorial mandate is on these comics.

>got Lin from Zuko
>got Su from Sokka
What a slut, she probably was gonna try for Aang as well to have been knocked up by the entire team, but Katara had that dick on lockdown.

>Wasn't Lin Zuko's?
Yeah you know what that makes more sense. I figured the actual reason Lin and Tenzin broke it off was because they realized they were half siblings but that would hardly stop anyone in this universe. Zuko it is.

Well, Zuko didn't seem to have it that bad at least.

Toph:
>Lin's father is a guy named Kanto.
Fandom:
>Lin's father is definitely 100% confirmed Zuko.

why

It's more fun to imagine it was someone we know instead of a literal who. Besides, it's not like Toph couldn't lie about it.

I seriously doubt Toph was lying, OOC.
And it's retarded to me that people think Toph HAD to have hooked up within their little group of friends, out of everyone on the planet. It's dumb and sort of ruins Toph.

Did they ever explain why a bunch of people became airbenders in LOK aside from Muh Spirit Portal? Man that shit was dumb.

It was the world attempting to balance itself. Airbenders are naturally very spiritual, and it makes sense that a 10,000 year in-the-waiting spiritual event would have some effect on the world.

mostly so we could have a airbending antagonist

No, Toph turning out to be a cock-craving slut unable to keep a man or parent her daughters properly ruined Toph.

Also why tf didn't they make pokemon jokes about Kanto, the rebound option of Johto, the waterbender Hoenn, the icy but cool Sinnoh, the fucking lunatic Unova, the foreigner Kalos, and the zero-effort waste-of-space Alola?

I'll take a literally who over borderline whos no one gives a shit about like Theo, Haru or The Duke.

My headcanon was they all had trace amounts of Airbender blood, that survivors of the purge interbred with the Earth Kingdom people.

Makes sense to me. Would've preferred to have them find some secret airbender clan hidden in butt fuck nowhere and off the grid. Hell even a comic about what happened to the few stragglers that survived the purge would be cool too.

>Toph having sex with two guys means she's a cock-craving slut
yeah ok
and gee I wonder why someone would want to walk away from a relationship with Toph ...

>No, Toph turning out to be a cock-craving slut unable to keep a man or parent her daughters properly ruined Toph.
LoK was and still is a mistake.

metaphor for immigration and how you can be from a nationality without really having to be born there or be descendants from them. but that's my Sup Forums paranoia tingling.

The other reason could be because they realize Tenzin couldn't make his wife pump kids so often (lazy with names or would cost more budget plus a big no no for a woman to just be pumping kids non-stop) and making him have multiple wives would've be seen wrong (but objectively the right way to repopulate airbenders showing that he was strong genes). So having people to suddenly be airbenders was the easy way to just have more airbenders

>Airbenders are pacifist right, why don't we turn them bad now? What a twist!
excellent writing, bryke

>them
er you mean one?
Zaheer is probably the best written component to LOK, or at least up there

>What if we did team avatar.... but evil!
Bryke does it again!
