>You know what your problem is? You want to think of yourself as the good guy. Well, I know you better than anyone, and I can tell you that you're not. In fact, you'd probably sleep a lot better at night if you just admit to yourself that you're a selfish, goddamn coward who takes whatever he want, and doesn't give a shit about who he hurts! That's you! That's BoJack Horseman.

Why is this show so fucking depressing?

It's relatable, because it is focused on the human condition: we all think life it's about ourselves.

Well at least the show revolves around Bojack’s life instead of being set as a bit character in someone’s story.

As of the most recent season Bojack is actually mostly "Rehabilitated". He didn't do anything outright fucked up all season and actively worked to help people in fact. If anything hes moved up to one of the least fucked up people in the main cast now.

He should have just had sex with Herb when he kissed him.

Isn’t the point shifting now, so that now that BoJack has turned himself around, his next big challenge is to make sure the toxic people he’s surrounded by don’t just drag him down again, and he has to navigate all the curve balls they keep throwing his way tempting him to be shitty again? I feel like a creator or something even said that in an interview, about the direction they were going for in either seasons 3 or 4.

Haven’t we gotten a few episodes now implying that from the other characters’ perspective, BoJack is indeed just a bit character in their own stories? We got the Mr Peanut Butter episode which was ‘the horse show but without the horse’ and that scene with Vanessa Gecko and Rootabaga getting that happy ending while PC and BoJack were screwed.

woah...dude....fuck....deep...

It's relatable like said, but it also shows how doing awful shit to other people isn't always going to fixed with an "I'm sorry".

Yeah, I like the way the show does a decent job of subverting sitcom tropes. I especially liked the scene where BoJack tries to initiate a surprise trust fall with that fly person but accidentally just triggers his ptsd.

Because it focuses on human nature and when most people watch cartoons they expect an brief escape from humanity.

Yep, humans in general are self loving, selfish, narcissistic assholes. Until someone tells us we are, then we hate ourselves because we know it’s the truth but we can’t really change. This show is human life in a nut shell.

>we can't really change.
This, we might change, but the reason it's not for others, but for ourselves, to feel better about us, even when we help others, we are doing it to feel better about us.

i want that bear nurse

Becouse ultimately, we are what we make of our bonds and our own selves. It's never too late to become the person you wish to be, Anons, even if that means freeing yourself from the people around you, you should be responsible of your own happiness.

Holy shit, did I accidentally step into a Rick and Morty reddit post? I have never seen more pretentious people in one place.

You obviously don't get it.

For anyone who is interested of the psychology behind this series i greatly recomend this book, once you develop the eyes to see narcisim you can tell, all the character in this show are actually pretty damm evil.

Well you could tell that wojack at least have a sense of guilt, wich that stops hims to go full narcisism, but still he has a inability to self reflect.

Season 5: everyone is a Bojack except Bojack. I wonder how that will play out.

Everyone? Even Mr Peanut Butter?

He had a third divorce. If he wasn’t Bojack before he’d sure as hell will be soon.

I’d really like to see Mr PB come to BoJack with his problems. Or even just for BoJack to realize that he has problems.

So next season who's getting the F bomb? My bet is either PC or Peanut Butter

I say Peanut Butter. PC has suffered enough.

who wants to watch a show about rich people crying all day

I don't think Jordan Peterson would like this show.

who fucking cares what he thinks

He's a lot smarter than you.

Shut the fuck up.

Rick and Morty is a comedy revolving around science fiction and nihilism. Bojack Horseman deals with actual serious issues like depression, unwanted pregnancy, self-loathing, drugs, and anxiety.

When R&M deals with serious shit it's usually solved in one episode. When BH tries to, the damage is permanent. It wants to be as close to reality as it can be.

The point of Bojack Horseman is that there are some injuries that won't heal, and that making even the littlest mistakes can have a huge impact on your life and everyone around you.

i saw the first three seasons of this show last year and loved them. haven't checked out the fourth one yet, is it any good?

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Not quite as heavy as last season but I think they needed to do that.

This thread has made it very clear that I should probably never watch this show. I despise nihilistic crap like this.

Why does this sound like something Jotaro actually would say?

Wow. This really is Rick and Morty for people who want to be bigger faggots.

Got you this, now fuck off autist

ok, thanks user. i'll give it a watch sometime.

No. It's just for people who actually deal with real life. Not every single show is reddit. There is nothing "reddit" about a show about a terrible person with a terrible life who has made many terrible mistakes that can't be fixed with the press of a button.

Bojack doesn't have a portal gun so he can run from his mistakes like Rick can. He has to deal with them the hard way.

>terrible life

That's up for debate.

user its hopeless, you're arguing with someone who rages over a fucking shit tier dipping sauce from a shit tier fast food chain.

whoa.......dude.......deep.....

i know, you can't handle it bro but i'm about to blow all up inside yo assho

>"Deep" shows that showcase themes from books you should have read in high school.

This and Rock&Memey are really just filling the gap left by a decent literary education.

None of this is deep. It's barely controversial anymore. The human condition isn't a secret.

"If you come near my family again, I will fucking kill you!"
This is one of the best delivered lines in the history of voice acting. Go ahead, name a better one, I'm actually open to suggestions.

youtube.com/watch?v=8t6JfL47EW0

Gets better at season 4. Well worth the wait.

It's the best one yet

Not a chance.
Unlike Rick, Bojack actually grows and gets better. We see this most clearly in season 4.

That one is really good too.

That hits close to home. It took me a while to realise I am a coward at heart and have problems maintaining relationships with other people. Funnily enough it works, and after realizing it I've started acting more how I'm comfortable being rather than how I desperately want to be.

Next step is trying to build a relationship that wont end with me suddenly breaking all contact because I feel the relationship has turned uncomfortable or into a burden. The only way I know how to make distance is by cutting all communication, because of aforementioned cowardice.

That and hanging out with people I feel comfortable being with, rather than just whoever happens to be around and quickest to befriend in my desperation.

sage for blogposting

>old man yells at bot

See? This is the kind of shit that Sup Forums never takes seriously. Because life is no more than a game to them and everyone on this board or on other social medias are just chess pieces for them to play with. Well guess what assholes, you all only have 1 life and an extremely long time limit. Don't waste it all by being insecure about your shitty life and putting down others for their traits and interests for your amusement. How about doing something actually worthwhile for once in your life?

No matter how much you shitpost, No matter how much you fap to cartoon porn, No matter how much you dream, you cannot escape from cruel reality.

Is Kermit the Logic King still out there cashing in on the self help scam he's built up around a bunch incels?

Funny. When I realized the same about myself, I instead stopped liking people altogether and accepted being friendly is like a job you don't get paid for.

>No. It's just for people who actually deal with real life.
>by watching cartoons of animal people on Netflix
>How about doing something actually worthwhile for once in your life?
>like watching cartooooooooons!

lmao at this virgin

My dad has Netflix you fucking moron. Are you really implying that anyone who watches adult entertainment like Trailer Park Boys or F is for Family once in a while is an autist in anyway shape or form?

Todd is the worst character. All through seasons 1-3 he enabled Bojack and even Mr Peanutbutter. He tries to help in some cases but its never well thought out and planned just stuff that is easy for him to do. Todd is the reason Bojack is okay with his miserable life all through seasons 1-3. Bojack would have hit rock bottom long ago if he did not have Todd. Bojack could come home and see Todd there and feel good about himself because at least Im not a bum like Todd, and I may have slept with my best friends daughter but hey I am giving a sack of shit a place to live. With Mr Peanutbutter todd gives horrible suggestions knowing for the most part they are horrible ideas. Todd is not the smartest character but he knows enough, in season 4 he even admits the clown dentist idea is awful but sticks to it. Only through luck and the ever dwindling pockets of his friends does he ever get anything right. He is also fully self destructing, everything bad that happens to Todd happens for a reason. He knew early on how much of a piece of shit Bojack was he allowed everything that Bojack did to happen. Because sleeping on his couch is easier than getting a real job. Not to mention everyone was much better off with out Todd this season.

Todd destroys, when ever Todd came and lived with someone their lifes were torn apart. Bojack had minimal contact with Todd and had a great season. Diane and Mr. PB Todd moves in, and it lead to Diane and Mr. PB to get a divorce. Todd moves in with PC guess what she breaks up with two great people in her life. The racist rat and the amazing robot Judah. He is the symbol of destruction! He is an awful person who only exist in the show as a sense of comedic relief, and the only reason we need that comedic relief is due to the pain and suffering being around him causes.

I get it Todd does not know better. He is so simple, and never directly wants to hurt people. most of his actions have good intention, but he is capable of thinking things through

>My dad has Netflix you fucking moron.
>adult entertainment
>STILL LIVES WITH HIS PARENTS

OH NO NO NO NO NO NO

>My dad has netflix
LMAO

I visit him actually. My parents divorced a while back.

I hope you got a valid excuse like your dad has some kind of a physical handicap and requires help doing things around the house.

Though having that excuse isn't much of a comfort when the parent is turning into a spoiled kid.

>Diane and Mr. PB Todd moves in, and it lead to Diane and Mr. PB to get a divorce.

I don’t see how those two things are related.

You know, something's only pretentious if it's less than what it presents itself as being. If something g is just about angsty or existential problems, it doesnt fit the criteria, and you're just spouting a buzzword

>LOOOLL WHAT A NUTCASE

He just @ a bot, he didn't literally replied to its posts, he probably hasn't even read them properly. He certainly isn't "trying to pick a fight".
Go clean your room soyboy.

>if it's less than what it presents itself as being. I
Fits both R&M and Bojack perfectly, faggot.

That's fair. Go watch my little pony or other life affirming bull

You know, calling anything serious buĺshit, and anything deep "rick and morty" doesn't insult anyone but your own ability to appreciate media that actually has something to say.

Ah sure. How? Now make something up, since you've gone through the trouble of pretending you jumping on a wagon was somehow rational.

>Y-YOU HAVE TO HAVE A 20000 IQ TO UNDERSTAND BOJAK

Sure manchild, whatever makes you sleep at night in your colorful cartoon pajamas.

>I want to debate you
>Actually he's not asking for a debate!

>I want to debate you
>Sure, let me end the debate by making strawmen first!

So this... is the IQ... of Bojack fans... woah...

For someone so literate, you sure have poor grammar and spelling.
Or maybe I'm a narcissism too, and my dam evil makes me be bad things.

>says something is shit
>is asked how is it shit
>URRR SO U NEED TO BE SMART TO WASTH?

I don't think this is particularly smart show actually, just that you guys are retarded and projecting.

Who are you quoting?

It's not a "smart" show, dipshit. It's just a show about how shitty life can be.

Hey man now's the best time to double your contribution to the Peterson e-begging fund! Maybe buy two personality tests!

>It's not a "smart" show
I can tell that by its fans.
Still doesn't change my statement.

>brings Doc Memeson out of nowhere

Nevermind Bojack, now THIS is desperation.
You know you don't HAVE to post user, you can always be quiet.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Nigga who the fuck are you defending if it isn't Jordan 'I can't be bothered to check if I'm talking to the right person' Peterson

Maybe you should read the posts you're answering to, user.

"Debating" and "picking up a fight" are not the same thing you idiot.

dude.......deep......

>This gay spiel

You know I get the whole thing about human being selfish and it's true, but saying that we can't change or we do it for the betterment of our selves, is pure faggotry. I've seen people who've gave up everything they love because of the need of others. Hell, people who stayed unhappy for someone else's sake. Don't give me this crap of people not changing or doing it for selfish reasons. It's gay and been proven wrong in all of human history. We get it, humans can be selfish sometimes.

>this thread
woah dudes it's blowing my mind....

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand BoJack Horseman. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of equestrianism most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also BoJacks depressed outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Meditations on First Philosophy by René Descartes, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Bojack Horseman truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in BoJacks existencial catchphrase "Todd, I'm sad" which itself is a cryptic reference to Descarte’s philosophical proposition “I think therefore I am.” I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Raphael Bob- Waksberg's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them.

This board is beyond salvageable at this point.

Replace Descartes with Max Stirner's The Ego and it's Own and you're all set

c'mon guys, it's a deep show. can't we just enjoy it without you guys shitposting about it because cartoons not for toddlers angers you?

>This entire fucking thread

When did acting like a human being suddenly be considered reddit on the fucking internet?

>Everything I don't like is reddit

Come on user, slightly altered copypastas are a Sup Forums tradition.

...

>I'M A BIG BOY NOWWWWWWW >:(
>watches cartoons on Netflix

You do know what board this is, right?

I don't think he does.

The people who watch Disney cartoons don't try to pass it off as DEEP and MATURE.

>HURR DURR THIS REDDIT THAT REDDIT EVERYTHING REDDIT HURR DURR I REAL SMARTY PANTS MUMMY

don't @ me
