It's still leaking.

Meanwhile at Chernobyl the new containment structure is being moved in to place.

looks like Fukishima is absorbing radiation from all over the ocean to me

I dont get this

Arent the workers here exposed to radiation too?

The old concrete sarcophagus still covers the damaged reactor, plus it's been several decades; radiation is minimal for the most part. Of course precautions are still taken to monitor worker exposure and minimize stirring up dust and such.

Don't worry about it

you know how little that shit matters in the FUCKING OCEAN?

>be Japanese
>get nuked twice
>be so radioactive you don't even care about leaking reactors

DAMN IT JAPAN! GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!

>5 years

Do the japanese have souls? Has anyone seen an oriental cry?
Will they go to heaven/

You don't hear anything about it because just like most nuclear incidents it's all fear mongering and there isn't any real danger. Your picture looks spooky but the reality is that the radiation is only slightly above background levels and is completely irrelevant.

That map is in centimeters,it is not measuring radiation

>ocean gets contaminated
>plants and animals in the ocean get contaminated
>everything that eats the plants and animals in the ocean gets contaminated
>everything that eats everything that eats the plants and animals in the ocean gets contaminated

Also, that image is showing the height of the tsunami frequency, not radiation. Notice the scale on the right is in centimeters.

Maybe this is what is killing the coral reefs in Straya.

>it's all fear mongering

Why don't you go live there.

Lazy people expect news to fall on their laps. If they don't hear about it they automatically assume it's not true.

Not sure maybe they were laughing. Both look exactly the same with japs.

this is fake, see

The solution to pollution is dilution.

>nobody will ever make a STALKER sequel set in Fukashima

That's not how it works. If you fill something with like 0.000001% radiation, it doesn't become 100% radiated, fuckwit.

Check this out mate, they're all articles since 2011 having to do with Fukushima, after reading you can see the problem is only getting more expanisve

picassodreams.com/files/fukushima-pacific-ocean-chronology-pdf.pdf

Wow, a 20km exclusion zone that will return to minimal radiation levels after a decade. You're taking about a microscopic dot on a world map. It's literally nothing.

RIP

well, russians tried to hide chernobyl. Didn't work out too good for them and the scientists that drank the water from that area to "prove it's safe"

CHING CHONG STALKER

PYOOONG

Of course, but any unnatural increase in exposure to radiation is something to be concerned about. It doesn't necessarily take a lot to cause health problems, even if symptoms don't occur until decades later.

why did you post a picture of sea level?

how much radiation is needed to kill plankton or fish eggs?

>stalker without cheeki
It would suck

Things that will cause more radiation exposure for you than Fukushima:

>Standing within 10 feet of a microwave for one minute
>A 30 minute walk outside on a sunny day
>Tooth X-Ray from the dentist
> 1 hour airplane trip at cruising altitude

Good thing we haven't been burning coal or anything.

Chernobyl was an embarrassment for the Soviet Union that always tried to hide bad news from its civilians. There are people who have been living in and around Pripyat for decades, the only risk is a marginally higher risk of cancer. The truth is that radiation levels drop off quickly within the first year of a nuclear incident but remain low level for many years afterwards. The people that instill this 'radiation fear' in everyone are the same people who think staring through the door of a microwave oven will damage your eyes (i.e. morons).

3 tablespoons

t. nuclear scientist

japan got really lucky that the radiation on land is mostly confined to the exclusion zone

ground water didn't get contaminated much, with levels way below safety limits

however what tepco is doing with the waste water and decommission of the reactors is unclear and I don't think we'll get a clear answer anytime soon

I'd still be wary of eating seafood from japan if not marked properly

I mean, Uranium does have a half-life of 4.468 billion years, so there's that.

Shhhh its sterilizing all the things along the Pacific. Let it do its job in peace. No questions

It's leaking, in the same way the rock under Denver continues to release deadly nuclear radiation.

As a religious organization, NOAA would obviously publish material that supports the claims of their cult.

>Falling for the Linear No Threshold Jew

Luck had nothing to do with it, radioactive contamination has always been a spooky scary skeleton to the public only because of the inability to detect it with human perception and the perceived danger despite completely ignoring dose rates and actual contamination levels. It's really a minor issue in the greater scheme of things.

maybe you should investigate how much radiation is in your body

What does everyone think of the rumor that stuxnet was responsible for the meltdowns?

There were rumors that the reason they couldn't shut the reactors down because the controls weren't responding

and this is what spooked Japan to shut down all their reactors til they can figure out what was going on

underrated

What are you implying by that?

Of course not, you loon, that isn't what he's saying. The way reconcentration works is that if you have one arbitrary unit of cesium per blade of grass, and a grazing cow consumes one hundred blades of that grass, and you eat that cow, you're now being dosed with a hundred arbitrary units of cesium. A gross oversimplification, but you get the idea.

This is why the Red Forest was leveled, and you can visit but not eat anything from Bikini Atoll--the fallout has worked its way up the food chain.

as long as it gives californians cancer I'm 100% OK with it leaking shit

Which means it is actually very much NOT radioactive, except when assembled into a critical mass. Radioactivity MUST be inversely proportional to the half-life of a radioisotope, because a sample which is emitting a large amount of radiation is also 'burning through' the limited number of atoms of the radioactive isotope present.

Radiation always follows the exponential decay curve shown, so something with a long half life must extend the same number of decays over a longer period of time, and thus be less radioactive, than something with a shorter half-life.

3 meltdowns with mox fuel, it could've been much much worse, and then there's the spent fuel pools which they put several stories above the ground

isn't that ocean tides?
not radiation.

Don't forget your Prussian Blue! Avoid radiation and Make Germany German Again.

What the fuck are you even talking about? There isn't any debate like global warming; it's pretty basic physics. Even a little radiation can really fuck you up.

That's not how radiation works retard.
Water is the best radiation shield there is, in the ocean it would have literally zero fucking effect on anything.

Stuxnet was a specially designed computer virus meant to target a specific brand of PLC to perform in a specific way. Using something like that against a string of power plants would be next to impossible because each plant would require a specially made virus requiring detailed espionage of each plants control systems.

literally this

this shit is blown the fuck out of proportion

you can get a fucking 100 dollar geiger counter yourself if you live in Cali and you're really that worried PRO TIP: it's going to read background levels

you're fine faggot, shut the fuck up already about this shit

false equivalency

ingestion of radioactive elements that stay within your body irradiating your cells for months vs limited external exposure...

what is inverse square law?

Also this radiation will be with japan for a while
But it seems most of it got blown up into the jet stream where it got carried to alaska, canada and USA west coast mainly

ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/fukushima-radioactivity-detected-off-coast-of-u-s-canada-1.2687002

OK go eat a banana, did the marginally higher radiation dose you just received fuck you up? No it didn't. That's because you don't know anything about the subject matter.

I concede. I must have forgotten that a banana emits as much radiation as a damaged nuclear power facility.

Caesium-137 is water soluble, friendo.

Both are pretty much irrelevant if you don't touch the godamm reactor

Im not saying japan was targeted, I'm saying the malware infected the system and managed to cause something to fail unexpectedly

You're assuming every power plant is radically different, maybe Japan uses similar equipment that could be affected

there's nothing to worry about, recent studies have found that radiation isn't really bad for you anyway

Bullshit, especially when the dosage for people at ground zero was less than a transatlantic flight.
Even fucking chernobyl had a barely perceptible uptick in cancer.

potassium does not behave the same way as cesium/strontium/plutonium in the human body

Even in the absolute worse case scenario the long term effects are not a serious issue. Obviously it is not a wise idea to inhale concentrated radioactive gases during a meltdown but the notion that light contamination levels are a serious issue after the fact is nothing more than a news company looking to write an attention grabbing click bait article.

I heard a story where some guys volunteered to clean up and work on a reactor knowing it was a suicide mission. So they just said fuckit and drank everyday. Well it turned out that they were drinking and pissing so much that they were flushing the radiation out of their systems because they looked into why none of them had radiation poisoning

the funny part was when the radioactive gas cloud was emitted from fukushima, japan told their citizens to stay indoors, but USA/Canada just let their populations get dosed lol

youtube.com/watch?v=eEtrPpRN58g

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4319914/

Lucky the gases have a short halflife

>Radiation is now a virus that is contagious

Only an issue if you drink it. The radiation itself is still not an issue.

It would require careful examination of the electronic control system to locate the correct point of attack. Each plant will have its own custom made control system intended to perform the same tasks, it's not just a copy and paste operation. Imagine trying to write a computer virus that will work on every vehicle in existence causing it to accelerate out of control to kill the driver, it would be next impossible to do, now consider that you aren't allowed to just buy the car to examine it, you have to do it covertly by walking around to parked cars and trying to gather this information without having the police called on you.

>radioisotopes stop being radioactive when they are digested

If a fish consumes caesium-137 and you consume the fish...

Ice Wall like in Game of Thrones. Probably gonna be overrun by radioactive walkers.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomagnification

I think this is what he is referring to

And then there's all the weird wildlife stuff going on with USA/Canada west coast

I wouldn't eat fish that bioaccumulate metals like tuna

You're putting on your weaboo glasses a bit on too tight.

Yes you are consuming radioactive material how does that change my point? The radiation itself isn't an issue just by being in close proximity to it.

Time flies when you're a faggot

>recent studies have found that radiation isn't really bad for you anyway

eh. no.

Yes, I know how hardware works, but I'm saying perhaps it didn't target the plant specifically, but managed to compromise it and had side effects

If you flash a phone with the wrong firmware, it bricks, that's still enough to screw things up

YEP, STILL FUCKED cbc.ca/beta/news/business/japan-fukushima-tepco-1.3645516

...

It's beta radiation. Which can be overcome by ordering a years supply of Natural Male Vitality from Alex Jones. You'll be back to alpha in no time.

Is Sup Forums now the greenpeace board?
The radiation levels are completely negligible.

they tried to build a bond villain tier ice wall to contain it and failed rt.com/news/356559-fukushima-ice-wall-fail/

Everything is fine, Japan is just having it's period.

I'm more concerned about the radiation levels in the pacific being enough to fuck up fish eggs or plankton, radiation affects small growing organisms more drastically than large ones

You could have entire species disappearing and the oceanic food chain breaking down

even the runoff from a car wash in fukushima is toxic as fuck. but they say it's ok (they're lying)
japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/11/06/national/car-wash-septic-tanks-emerge-radiation-threat-fukushima/#.WC1GTLIrIdU

You do understand that nuclear physics and the underlying theory of quantum chromodynamics is taught in the second grade in Japan right?

what was in the Pacific that (((they))) wanted to be destroyed?

2 headed sharks.

No, radiationfags need to be put in their place, the perceived danger of low level radiation exposure does not correlate with reality and I'm sick of hearing retards pushing for the ban of nuclear energy based on the same debunked bullshit being constantly pushed around over and over.

Okay then drink some

Not only that but these elements are also chemically toxic as well as radioactive.

Heavy metals don't mix well with people
