KSD needed her to be inspirational and empowering. Meaning, stripping away every thing that made her a nuanced character. Her final fucking arc on her first run was about Carol having a brain tumor and it ending with her brain being rebooted.
She became a drunk in the 90's under Busiek. Before that she had emotional issues.
This is what I hate most about fucking KSD's run. Brian Reed's run was phenomenal, consistent, and provided us with an interesting character. KSD took all of that away. And for some reason people lapped that up. KSD did for Carol what Bendis did for GotG. I don't understand why people worship her over it.
That will never happen, without Mar-Vell you don't have a lot of Avengers and cosmis stories, you don't have Monica, you don't have Genis and Phyla...
I'm glad that Marvel has a stable continuity that doesn't constantly reboot and retcon things, unlike DC

I wish I were writing Carol. I would go full blood Knight, shoulder length hair, the rest of the costume is fine except maybe some more Red. Then just focus on building a rogues gallery and revamping what little she already has. Alpha Flight and Spider-woman is a boring supporting cast, so ditch them and build up a new one.
They already cast Monica you dumb casual.

I just want to say, that if the fights are so easy that you can have an anxiety attack and not be seriously injured or killed...that the fights might not be that much of a big deal to actually involve a superhero.

My main point was actually to the amount of damage their battles cause. Stopping a bank robbery means jack shit if you cause 1 million in property damage and the money is already insured.
As for actual jobs, 1 super strong still fucks them up if it puts 5 regular joes on welfare. Guys like Reed could help but they're wrapped up in man kind can't handle my shit. Although will give Stark credit for slowly helping where he can.
So in a world with Superheroes, there might be people saying that welfare's a bad idea because it dials back on the gains that we can have from super heroes doing regular jobs far better than normal people could ever try?

I am getting so tired of Marvel trying to shove "GENERIC FEMALE SUPERMAN" down the readers throats.
No one likes Carol, she's not interesting. You've got lots of cool female superheroes.
Those superheroes doing regular joe jobs with their powers are ultimately putting people out of work who would otherwise pay taxes. Welfare can't last forever if nobody can put enough money into the system to begin with, it just becomes the social security problem: pre retirement edition.
Then you have to consider how they shape industry. These guys aren't like robotics or inventions that permanently shape an industry and give the disrupted workers time to adjust to new ones. Now you're looking at a situation where industries may depend entirely on a select few with say strength and normal joes unable to enter the market due to immeditly getting out competed yet the industry itself not really advancing either.
Look at west virgina of today. By all accounts it has a lot of problems similar to the above. Yet people fight against welfare, refuse or unable to learn a new skill, and replacement tech is shunned.
I would sure as fuck read Ennis Captain Marvel.
To be fair, Carol COULD be interesting but they don't go the plot routes that could make her so.
