The term has kind of become a meme these days but Crumb really was "brutally honest" about everything. That's why idealists cannot stand him, because if there is one thing an idealist cannot do, it's being honest about themselves and the world.
Crumb can, that's why he has no problem describing himself as a literal wanker. Because there is nothing wrong with that, fapping has never harmed anyone, and pretending you never have any sexual thoughts about random people is not fooling anyone.
