How does Sup Forums feel about an Accounting major?
Y'all seem to have a good grip on job tiers

Thinking about becoming a CPA after I graduate.
>Thoughts?
How fucked am I?

if you like working a lot due to shit family it is a good excuse to stay late, etc. at least from experience with roommate who works all the time at deloitte . better money than some on higher tiers but not sure for the hours

Someone pls tell me my Biochem degree is good

I just want to be an Emergency Room PA

If you end up working for a big accounting firm you can make good money.

Accountants regularly make consistent money but not always great money.

At the least there's always a need.

>only thing I enjoy is History
>nearly the worst degree you could get
Kill me now

>tfw pharmacist
>tfw feeling like I'd like biochem better

well what degrees are y'all pursing currently?

why is the medicine only God tier when there are fat sick people everywhere and tons of hospitals? it should be top tier easy.

The Pharm job market in america is literal shit.

it is good goyim just keep paying your loans

>tfw majoring in game design
>tfw this major is so bad and is such a joke that it is not even on this list

Big 4, here, it crazy hours, but look up any company major CFO/Controller, more often than not they came from B4.

Pay your dues, get out, and make mad dosh compared to your engineer friends that get cappted by 2nd year.

>implying making money off what you love isn't the ultimate red pill

Biology and Im starting medical school next fall.

test

i was in design but learned a broad range of things (had game design, graphic design, web dev, and some other shit all in 1 major then u pick what u want) i work on websites now but u will find some shit. i just fuck around at work all day and make good money youll be fine

this is what my wifu is doing currently, I want to also major in something that will rake in decent amount of money too.. but I don't want to hate my job
>Check'd

Do a double major. You need 150 hours for CPA anyways.

I suggest Finance (as it's most interesting imo).

What is "good money" to you people? You keep saying it, but it's meaningless without a figure.

My friend, if you are choosing your major based on what some incredibly misinformed autist on Sup Forums put together, you will never be happy. Do what you love to do user.

Unbelievable tier is all the meme majors. As in it's unbelievable that people still fall for the meme

I'm studying electrical engineering but I realize I want to sell out and give my soul to Satan. How can I pursue any field in finance or business. I'm in my senior year so I can't really switch majors.

>pic related, what I desire

biomedical engineering is a shit tier bachelors degree. You can't get an entry level job without a PhD or MS with 2 years experience (I fucking wish I was joking).

finish your degree, read The Intelligent Investor, study up on the typical metrics for a stock/bond, and go from there. Most traders are drooling retards playing follow the leader so it's easy to beat them.

>making money off of game design

If you completely rip off your playerbase making retarded clicker apps that take all of a week to make, sure.

What kind of job do you want?

I'm getting my LPN at my local tech college before going back to uni for medicine. It'll be nice to get a job that pays $18 avg while in college

bump

>CPA here
yeah you're fucked, don't go big 4 unless you drink/have a steady supply to narcotics. Finally got to industry and its 100 times better

why is education shit tier? you realize that without educators you'd all be dumb as shit. fuck you dirty niggers

depends on cost of living in your city, but generally 70k+ for single white male, more around 90-100k for larger cities, to be upper class. also depends on your age, married, etc. pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/05/11/are-you-in-the-american-middle-class/

>tfw english major
>always depressed when i saw this pic
>have job i love
>never been this comfy before in my life

the ultimate red pill is just having fun :^)

What do they expect from you?

I'm literally begging for any more guidance or advice. I realized way too late I don't want to be a code monkey or some nerd "satisfied" with his career making other mother fuckers loaded.

Something that would interest me honestly. Law sounds good but I don't think I'm smart enough for it

I'm in school right now but my major is beyond trash tier and I'm concerned for my financial future.

That's the case with everything if you go by job postings alone. You need to know someone or network to the point that you know someone enough to get you past that

im perfectly content with 45k living alone because fuck relationships

How do you enjoy yourself? I need to know the secret. I have not enjoyed myself in over a decade.

>70k
best i can hope for is £30k in london
i do not see hope

>tfw 30something
>tfw no GED
>tfw CC is $10k annually
>tfw no dreams/ career goals
>tfw working retail for the past decade and probably until my casket closes

I'll see if things are a bit better next life. Maybe I'll be an engineer of some sorts.

Financial accounting I've seen they work you like a fucking dog. I know managerial and tax accounting is a bit easier and more enjoyable, but accountants seem to work a shit ton regardless for a good amount of money. Best accounting position is like and advisor or consultant.
Most accountants I know are pretty asocial. For me, not worth the money.

Go talk to IB and Financial companies. I know IB hires alot of engineers because alot of the stuff now is very complicated and require some complex financial models. Other than that at least you should be relatively employed right?
I heard electric engineers get hired pretty easily, just know that if you stay in the project side you will get fucked and capped, if the company sees you can help them on the business side you'll do rotations into more leadership/management roles and make those shekels.

fuck off, if you were trying to suck the partner dick and go for top 25% utilization then you were asked to get fucked.

Economics with minor in finance here. One year to go. I want to become an actuary. Am I fucked or in a decent path?

I'm just posting this because the thread it was in was pruned. Best quote I've seen in a while.

>maybe I should do something productive instead of trying to destroy lives and nations?

I'm studying business management
Literal definition of medium tier to me kek

Tfw you double major in two shit tier subject (business management & Japanese language) and it doesn't help either if them be any less shit.

>drama major here, b/c acting and directing is all I enjoy

We're all gonna make it bro...

>tfw Computer Science meme degree

How fucked am I?

>Law
>meh tier
>Criminal Justice & Law
>good tier
what
>all that stem in great and god tier
lmao this is the most misinformed thing I've ever seen, stemfags outside of eng have almost no job prospects.

I might do PoliSci + History and then go to Law School. Sound good?

Doing the same but Math/Econ double major.

Take any exams yet user?

>Japanese language
weeb
Knowing Japanese will add thousands onto a salary. If you can get into a company with large ties to there, they might send you over. Try graduate schemes. I know it'll be my only hope... I'm in a worse position than you.

>Phil major

I just came out more jaded. I think this is how it is meant to feel...

I am currently on my BFA path for acting, and great at carpentry too.

I wanna go to trade school for carpentry too for job security so I can audition for the same theatre I build sets for

Your fine m8, accounting will get you money.

I'm a bis ad major who plans on going into law

I'm a Biomedical Eng major with a 3.1 GPA. Am I fucked if I want to get a MS at a decent uni?

I'm planning on majoring in Computer Engineering.

Am I about to fuck up, Sup Forums?

you will be fucked, because too many actuaries for a limited job market. Enjoy getting fuck white boi.

I wish I were a weeb, it makes it worse that I don't even watch anime or listen to jpop. Understanding it makes it even more annoying.

Do it,

It's goood/consistent pay and there's always opportunity.

t. An accountant

>pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/05/11/are-you-in-the-american-middle-class/
well then...

You need to actually get certified, otherwise an accounting major is shit.

I hate anime. Good on you.

gg buddy

Medicine, planning to specialise in orthopaedic surgery

Thoughts?

Hehe penn state petroleum engineering here, one year from now I will have a 90k job in Alaska destroying forests. I love my life.

Pay is shit and there is a shortage of teachers. Literally every dumb bitch that goes to college and isnt going into nursing becomes a teacher.

>tfw History major
Maybe I'll become a (((((corporate)))) lawyer and show all you fags up.

>tfw you will never be this affluent

let me guess
you're only late 20s, early 30s at most?

I signed a contract with #1 in the big 4. No regrets here, linear promotion, and healthy raises.

the real secret to happiness is finding a place where you are content. i teach english at a high school, which sounds shitty, but I personally like, and it's not very stressful.

also I recently bought a really small cabin out in the middle of nowhere, and I spend my weekends fishing and hiking. it all depends on what you love. my biggest piece of advice is to just stop caring about pleasing/impressing the people around you and instead focus on finding inner tranquility

oops i means shortage of teaching jobs

wtf is lsat

this is basically my only option anymore

Doesn't answer my question.

I spent two years living in Tokyo. Japanese companies are just not interested in spooning their group think by hiring a gaijin. Foreign companies in Japan are pretty much the only hope unless I want to be a school teacher desu.

It's the test you have to take to get into law school

In med school yet? ortho is literally one of the hardest specialties to get into in the US

Problem is that I have already found that. It's something I literally cannot have...

SSRIs have not done me good...

Last time I was happy was playing videogames when I was 10.

It's the bar exam
Whether you can go to law school or not.

Finishing chem this year. Fuck this shit degree I should have taken computer science fuuuuuuck

I graduated a year ago with a bachelor's in accounting. Had a job offer 3 months before I graduated with a small regional firms which I accepted. Work life balance outside of tax season is real good, benefits kick ass, salary is meh, got reimbursed for cpa exam guides. Not a bad choice if you don't mind sitting at a desk all day.

Unless you go to a large school or are at the top of your class the big 4 won't even give you the time of day without any experience. Start small for experience, then the big 4 is a possibility to make some good money. I dunno why anyone would want to do that to themselves, but people do stupid shit all the time for money I guess...

I'm currently planning on becoming an aerospace engineer. Hope it works out and I get design some new missiles and rockets, that's my endgame, but I'll accept designing some planes or some other shit too

Start studying for the LSAT now. That's all that matters. Fuck your stupid class selection and your double major. Get a 165 or higher on the LSAT. That is your only objective during undergrad.

I did look up Oxbridge, but I got a shitty enough education and childhood to destroy that. I have a good level degree, though. Just not sure what University or area of law... I like property law, though. Someone has to defend liberty.

>tfw i'll be taking it away from families and giving it to the banks

Any EMTs on Sup Forums?

>Accounting
Boring as fuck corporate slave. But then, that's exactly what many people are looking for.

Sometimes I feel like beating up engineers and programmers and taking their lunch money

I go to A SEC school. I'm a junior with a 3.5gpa, previous internship at a publicly traded bank. I just walked up and talked to the big 4. Had dinner with them. Couple interviews. Now I have an internship in my spring semester. Busy time x $25 an hour = fat dick money

But the big 4 are generally cool and want to recruit

ELECTRIC ENGINEER FUCK YES. That is if I don't drop out and/or kill myself before I graduate

Going to take this Chem degree to grad school. Applying to PhD programs now. Am I just all around fucked? No, I won't switch to ChemEng.

What can I do with a minor in Applied Linguistics?

I just like language, but will it help me when I try learning new ones?

Are you in Law?
How is it?
How has the LSAT affected your life?

Seriously this.
Pretty much no matter what kind of degree you get, work your fucking ass off for four months and get into law school.

If this shit doesn't work out for some reason I'll prob just do something history related or become a career soldier desu

...

Theology is unbelievable tier

You can find a soul crushing code monkey job and make some decent money user, good job prospects for people who know c# and other object oriented languages

What if you have already graduated?

>tfw Sustainability major
>tfw God Emperor Trump says climate change is a hoax

It's a bittersweet feeling ;_;

Humanities isn't suicide tier. Philosophy, history, classics, languages are god tier.

Basically it's "get down those carbon emissions", right?

"Don't dump your poo upstream!"
