Not a book but definitely watch Kenneth Clarke's 'Civilisation', I'm sure you'd enjoy it. It's all up on youtube.
Which era? Pre-Greek, Roman, Dark Age, Renaissance, Baroque, Victorian, Modern?
...
if you're completely new to art history, you could start with Gombrich's Story of Art (pleb tier) or dive right into Malraux's The Voices of Silence (patrician tier)

It's a shame modern western art has taken such a dive.
Even cinema now has gotten incredibly lazy. Hire a bunch of starving koreans to put out mediocre work, everything is lit and shot like cheap TV...There's like 1 or 2 directors still working who put in real effort to create something impressive.
That is untrue.
Papa Mussolini is ashamed by you.
