Awful Hospital

So apparently "Miss" here is really a guy/trans individual, which, while not all together unexpected given Bog's leanings on a certain spectrum of pain and asshurt, is still rather disappointing as it turns the already semi-cancerous comment section even MORE cancerous because of it, making it into a whole shitfest and circlejerk over a the brand new "Trans" character.

Also, to that one user who wanted porn of 'her', yeah sorry, gonna have to settle with the shriveled up semi-peni.

Anyway, Awful Hospital thread.

>Implying porn has to abide by canon
Given how Bog's fanbase (and his quote-on-quote 'wife') act, not abiding by the "canon" would probably result in that artist getting eaten alive.

I feel stupid for defending this and the artist.

That image perfectly sums up the glorious clusterfuck that is Awful Hospital. At least when it's not trying to shoe in some horribly forced political drivel like the latest update of course.

What happend?

That is so kafkaesque

Also god bless Space Funeral

Bog (though I'm sure it was more his wife's idea) decided that inserting a transsexual character into his comic for progressive and diversity points would be a good idea, and now it's completely fucked over the relative calm and enjoyment that his comic once possessed, especially in regards to the Commentators, a key part of the comic narrative itself, who are now forced to ALWAYS refer to "Miss" with 'her' proper pronouns (even in passing comments that aren't even primarily about said individual), otherwise they risk any input they may make getting deleted.

All in all? An utterly shitty situation for everyone who isn't a circlejerking, braindead drone from Leddit.

>and circlejerk over a the brand new "Trans" character.

One of the people in the comment section actually had a part in making Miss, both in personality and design.

They spammed the entire page with praising Miss on every aspect, a character they fucking basically made. It was one of the most egotistical and delusional things I've ever seen.

They just ended up deleting everything they wrote though and left the page with just a bunch a deleted comments left over.

Eh she's a minor character we won't see very often so I don't think any significant damage will be made to the community.

Attached: mcfoodalds2.png (800x800, 736K)

Its the ultimate snowflake configuration.

Jesus, that's some real cancer right there. Honestly I'm still boogled as to how Bog can have the perfect formula to create one of the greatest stories ever made in regards to comics, but fucks it up immensely because he just can't learn when to put his foot down and to say "No" to the obviously mentally-unwell.

How do you think people would react to a trans character that clearly doesnt pass and just looks like a fat brown haired dude with lipstick?

Attached: 1491359308752.jpg (250x250, 8K)

Also is it just me or is there a trend where trans characters in these comics/webcomics act like a 'spunky know it all independent wymen that's so done with everyone else's shit'?

They'd probably praise it for being a realistic portrayal.

>it just me or is there a trend where trans characters in these comics/webcomics act like a 'spunky know it all independent wymen that's so done with everyone else's shit'?
That's literally the case with the majority of such characters in comics, yes. I imagine it stems from the likely fact that absolutely none of these comic/webcomic authors have EVER directly experienced what actual 'trans' individuals are like beyond the utter trite that shitholes like Reddit and Neogaf enjoy spreading. Trans people are genuinely sick and hopelessly fucked up individuals who need full-on medical and psychiatric help, not this whole "LELPROGRESSIVESODIVERSEBRAAAAP" BS.

Attached: youboss[3].png (800x1440, 724K)

Wait where does it say that the character is trans?

And I just checked the comments of the most recent update, all of the top ones are just talking about the gray zone getting slobified.

What the fuck are you people talking about? Are you just making shit up to see if you can trick people? Do you have some hateboner for the comic or something? Why pretend that this smalltime webcomic just had some huge digression about trans people? Really, why?

it never fails

Attached: 1443200497762.png (820x692, 201K)

it's heavily implied by the way she's talking about her parents, hasn't settled on a name and just wants to be called "miss", etc. Plus she's a flat redhead with a masculine pointy chin like pointed out.
And then Bog confirmed it in the comments.

Okay. But then what in the fuck are
all on about? There was no fucking political tirade or message, at least not anywhere in the story itself. The pacing wasn’t stopped or fucked up by some detour into social justice like these posters are saying. So why?

I’m honestly just curious, what is the entertainment value in this? Are you trying to start some generic political shitstorm thread? Do you have it out for bog? Are you just trying to trick anons because it makes you feel clever? I don’t want to just say it’s Sup Forums making shit up to stir up anti-trans sentiment but I honestly can’t think of a better, more likely explanation for these comments.

I mean really, what the fuck? The character never mentions being trans, just talks about the world getting fucked up and then a snide remark about moms.

>certain spectrum of pain and asshurt
It seems you are the butthurt one my good bitch.

But you don't understand... everything is a Jewish SJW conspiracy to undermine White Culture (tm)... evil SJW Illuminati is waiting at every corner...

It's really not a big deal for people that purely read the comic, like you or me.

But the comment section is an important part of it, because it is a "character" in the story and can actively influence things. And because the comments are important, there are people that take those comments way too seriously and are creating a shitstorm.

>Are you trying to start some generic political shitstorm thread?
Almost certainly. Expect the trans character to be the *only* thing ever talked or brought up about this comic here from now on.

>that time bog went to /aco/ and drew lewds of the catheter chick

There is only one question I have about all this.

Does his penis still work?

OH NO... PEOPLE MUST REFER TO WOMEN AS WOMEN... HOW WILL WE SURVIVE... HOW WILL WE SUBSIST... I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION THAT MEANS IF I'M NOT A GODDAMN ASSHOLE TO FICTIONAL MINORITIES MY HEART IMPLODES... PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN (THAT WILL BE COVERED WITH REMAINS OF MY EXPLODING HEART IF I'M NOT ALLOWED TO BE A DOUCHEBAG)...

Well i think that he made it political by not making every character trans, by that logic.

The literal state of Sup Forumsmblr.

>logic
Are you genuinely expecting logic from these people? Lmfao, dude. Their stance is normal and apolitical, its only when OTHER people express their views it 'becomes' political.
>see: the same kind of people that happily shot arabs in Modern Warfare by the bushels, who later complained about 'putting politics into videogames'

I love that we're at the stage where memes have replaced thinking.

You could argue with me, you could contest my points or my rationale... but why when you can just regurgitate the same old memes and act as if that was a real response?

Sup Forums: No Thinking Necessary!

I mean, fucking... look at this.It doesn't say anything. It doesn't mean anything. It's literally just two random memes ("Sup Forumsmblr" and "literal state") strung together. A bot might've churned out this post. For all I know a bot DID churn out this post, how can I say he didn't?
It's like a reverse Turing Test.

Newspeak is real and every political party and their mother are using bots to influence public perception.

Also most people on Sup Forums are fucking idiots or have gotten so good at pretending that they’ve gone full retard.

...

The literal state of autism

>You could argue with me, you could contest my points or my rationale
He doesn't have an argument, that's the point. He's either a shit stirrer from Sup Forums or a general asshole who's mad people have beliefs and opinions other than the ones he approves of.

What? Bog is ok with any fanart actualy

>(though I'm sure it was more his wife's idea)
actually apparently it was someone else's idea also you know what happens when bog's wife contributes to the comic? this

I actually didn't even catch on the character was trans until the comment section went full faggot. I thought they were just a homely girl.

Bog can't write actual humans if his life depended on it though.

Threadly reminder that Jay did nothing wrong and Bog brute forced his villain angle.

The author lives in a fairyland that thinks if some extra-dimensional encounter with eldritch horrors happened we'd learn to get along.

Apparently he thinks we're already a galactic level civilization IRL and all of humanity has set aside it's differences and won't flip a shit if something as jarring as the existence of other dimensions and realities came to light.

You guys know you can just draw her with a pussy and the artist can't do anything about it right?

>quote-on-quote
>not quote (sentence) end quote

Attached: 1511283571838.jpg (300x223, 110K)

Would drawing the MtF tranny with a pussy be more offensive or with a dick, though? I don't understand gendertrender mental gymnastics.

does it matter? we're talking about a comic where most of the characters are concepts and the conscience of one man in inside a living cup of coffee, while said cup of coffee's mind is inside a computer.

>Threadly reminder that Jay did nothing wrong and Bog brute forced his villain angle.

Bog and others started claiming Jay is a "masochist." I don't think Bog realizes people like Jay are usually annoyed by everything and angry just because that's how some people are or taught, not because they're some sub-conscious secret "masochist."

This sounds like Bogs marriage more then anything but I don't think he realizes it.

Attached: Screenshot.png (1271x259, 62K)

Bog is one of those people that think people can legitimately be "evil" as if it's a cartoonish inclination and not the cause of a combination of upbringing, biology, and environment.

No one just knowingly decides to kill several dozen people and stow their bodies in a mass grave without a shopping list of issues.

In a story full of people who look and act like monsters and may not mean to, throwing Jay under the bus because he's the mean nasty white male was kind of moment of realization that this comic's going to suck now.

Bog is the least inclined person to have any sort of opinion on psychiatrics.

You mean like not catering to tyranny delusion?

Attached: 1435422677619.jpg (290x225, 24K)

Source on your image? And do you have a link to that catheter chick image?

maybe I missed it, but i saw little drama caused by the transness in the comments. Mostly just circle jerking performative excitement.

A huge chunk of drama seemed to come from:
-a dude personally offended by the "apathetic service industry worker" personalty trope
-another dude getting mad about the "heh, "normal"" line by reading it wrong in a way you would need crippling autism to do.
-another dude personally offended by every "seduce____" joke and talks about shipping under the impression that this new hot red head was still a teen

these three causing a bunch of weird spin off arguments and people having exaggerated breakdowns because they have that kind of autism were the smallest, most trivial, least heated arguments is just completely impossible for them to deal with.

Imo Bog should just use Sup Forums threads as a comment section instead. Our crippling posting personalty disorders are way less grating then the Web Forums Circa 2009 he's got in his comment section.

Serious question: are you the creator? I can't imagine anybody else giving a shit about this dude's stuff anymore to spam these threads.

We know he comes to Sup Forums because he's mentioned threads before, and for a while he went to /tg/ to shill for his nonexistent tabletop game.

>Serious question: are you the creator?
Serious question: are you utterly retarded?

Attached: 227n[1].jpg (640x480, 39K)

I wasn't even him but if you think making a REEEEEEE post is more intelligent than a 'comblr meme' you need to get your head out of your ass.

Hi, bogleech for real again.

Nobody else in this thread was me.

I also never posted on /tg/ in my life.

Anyway I don't know why this is a big deal. I based this character on a combination of a couple friends, it's not a "political statement," and I've never used the comic to make other "political statements."

...They're just drawings.

There also wasn't any particular other person who came up with the character, but a couple different people took credit for whatever reason.

Like others pointed out, there was barely any drama. Only one person was an asshole about it.

I also never really meant Jay to be one dimensionally evil.

What happened was, the second I made a human character who was a murderer it divided people so severely that I felt like I had to walk on eggshells and be black an white about him.

I think it's okay to sympathize with aspects of him, other than the "killing people" thing, because that's how fictional villains work, but there were people talking like they were ready to slit my throat if I made him at all sympathetic.

The journal I gave him was kind of a compromise, and turning him into the weird, new monster character was a further compromise.

Nobody ever gets so upset over my non-humans. As soon as a character is human or even hypothetically human and not totally perfect, everyone reads them as an ethical or social statement.

It's legitimately so exhausting to try and live up to the expectations some people have of my goofy little doodles with a story attached to them.

....Boy that sounded sour and pessimistic. Didn't really mean to go that route.

Sometimes it's just that even positive feedback creates pressure. When people really like something I wonder if it's a fluke or if I can ever make something that good again or better, you know?

Most of my commenters are fun and nice, and the good things outweigh any of the bad things for me, it's just that when drama does happen it throws me SO off guard because from my perspective I'm just having fun drawing stuff that I like or references things that I like and people I know. It's jarring when people are so invested in it that they can hate me for how I drew a thing or what words I typed under it.

Not bad enough that I regret doing it all, though. I don't know what else I'd be doing with that free time besides writing about bugs.

I think your opinion on Blissey is dumb but I respect your opinion on Lucario

I don't actually read your comic so that;s all I have to say

The person made it sound like they had a decent part in creating it, and then spent the whole comment section going full autism and worshiping the character and then lashing out at anyone who said something not satisfactory to them.

They did this before on another account though and just used the comment section as a personal space to vent and freak out about real life shit until they later left.

Sorry to be this fucking blunt but do they just never get banned because they're a in real life friend? I was never annoyed by Miss but just this person.

>m-muh feels

The ginger thing was one of the things borrowed from real-life friends, I didn't know it was a trope.

Practically the only other webcomics I've followed in years are Oglaf, Whomp, Feast for a King and the comics by Thorsby.

I try to stay out of moderation, honestly. In some ten years of my site having active commenters, I've personally only banned maybe four or five accounts under really severe circumstances.

Other moderating is left up to my other couple mods, but they try to avoid banning anyone too unless the person really intends to be causing trouble.

We def have some regulars who get emotional enough about the comic that it causes minor chaos sometimes, but they don't mean anything bad by it. I can usually work it out in a quick chat if I have to.

>The journal I gave him was kind of a compromise, and turning him into the weird, new monster character was a further compromise.
I guess this is why people draw funny animal comics.

^
>Nobody ever gets so upset over my non-humans. As soon as a character is human or even hypothetically human and not totally perfect, everyone reads them as an ethical or social statement.

No matter what anyone makes they will never make everyone happy, there will always be people upset for whatever reason on both sides of the spectrum. The people on both the right and left side of the political spectrum on Sup Forums are just jaded because of a creative climate in a polarized political climate. Then the name calling starts and people get overly sensitive regardless of the author's intentions.

You just can't win so, as bad as this may sound, don't exhaust yourself trying to give people what they want. Making something for other people will only make you miserable.

Boy I can't wait for my webcomic where everyone is an awful person to attract an audience like that

Not that it ever will, do you know how hard getting an audience for a webcomic is these days? Very.

I'll never understand why people get so triggered about trans side-characters.

14.7 years in photoshop later.

Attached: WHO-CARES.jpg (808x1024, 329K)

>Making something for other people will only make you miserable.
THIS THIS THIS.
THIS IS SO FUCKING IMPORTANT.

DON'T BE LIKE ANDREW FUCKING HUSSIE AND MAKE SOMETHING YOU DON'T WANT TO BECAUSE YOUR AUDIENCE WANTS IT.

GOD I HATE HOMESTUCK ACT 6. FUCK. I'M MAD AGAIN NOW.

It's not a good solution. It's only possibly a slightly better solution. It's butchering your body to feed a delusional mental illness. It doesn't give good results and you'll look like a very ugly person.

However, it might reduce suicide rates a bit so I guess it might be reasonable.

Okay. But what does that have to do with people getting upset about trans characters? Just don't concern yourself with the made up life choices of cartoon characters. It's that simple.

e621.net/post/show/1096026

>It's not a good solution. It's only possibly a slightly better solution. It's butchering your body to feed a delusional mental illness. It doesn't give good results and you'll look like a very ugly person.
Why would you encourage that as a good thing? The only answer I can give is that it might reduce suicide rates a bit but I can see why many people wouldn't accept that answer.

>Just don't concern yourself with the made up life choices of cartoon characters.
Where do you think we are?

it's a lot of things. It would probably be pretty interesting to do a study on that kind of topic.

You got the people who actively hate or disapprove of them. People who would just rather pretend trans people don't exist at all.

You've got people that get mad that *other* people like having the character.

There's people that actively recoil at any kind of 'political' statement or pandering, and having any kind of minority is a political statement. Some people see it as the SJWs or PC invading, and they need to fight back.

On the other side, there's people that appreciate the gesture, but you're doing it the 'wrong' way, or not going far enough. And people that get mad that other people *don't* like the character.

Frankly, there's no winning and your best bet is to just never make anything other than straight white men.

Who said anything about encouraging it? People like you are the reason Logan can't smoke anymore. Because people like you think that just showing something is the same as encouraging it.

>your best bet is to just never make anything other than straight white men.
But you'l trigger people for doing that too because you're ignoring everyone else.
The real winning move is to not do anything at all and just stick with shitposting in social media.

I don't get why Sup Forums tries to portray you as some frothing at the mouth extremist, you seem like a pretty cool dude.

Bog if you're still here, have you ever considered making an actual RSS feed instead of just announcing updates through twitter?

You should look at Nedroid, it's universally liked here which and based off of the other comics you said you like you'll probably enjoy it.

Also, I'm loving the direction the story itself is going in AH. Keep up the good work and remember that you don't have to make everyone happy, it's your webcomic.

If you didn't read what he said, Bog tries to appease everyone without really satisfying anyone, much less himself.

Pandering is bad, m'kay?

Or maybe he doesn't want to create drama? The fact he's willing to actually to talk to people on Sup Forums despite Awful Hospital threads more often than not being circlejerks complaining and spreading rumors about Bog is a plus in his favor.

I don't understand why you said Naganadel ruined Poipole, when Poipole suffers from the "small bigheaded floaty legendary" thing you often criticize other designs of.

hey glad your here, it'd feel rude to put this in the comment section directly.

My condolences on having a fanbase that is Like That. Half those people can barely read.

Hope your fanbase dosn't grow much bigger then it needs to be to support you. A huge fanbase can kill a mans soul. Just look at Hussie.

Well, in the end, this was one of those situations where only like two people were overtly shitty, other people entered a hyper-defense mode because of it, and there wound up being way more rumors of drama than any actual drama. I think it's all back to normal now.

The character's real-life inspirations aren't even commenters themselves, but they thought she was cool, and I'd already planned her for a long time and don't have any regrets. I really just thought it'd be interesting to have someone who would have been ostracized in this world, and now lives in a realm where being "weird" doesn't matter, but was kind of already jaded. Both her and Fern basically stepped into magical fantasy lands only to find them run by idiots.

On the "trying to please everybody" front, it is tricky because the whole principle of the comic is that it's driven by feedback, though ever since the Jay discourse I've erred more on just what I think is cool. What readers mostly contribute at this point is the order in which things get explored, the questions Fern asks, and if they seem to like one minor character a lot I'll think harder about their backstory and fleshing them out.

I do like Naganadel, I just thought the most interesting aspect of poipole was having a huge alien head full of poison, and making that a wasplike abdomen on Naganadel just felt more "mundane" to me I guess. Still, like I said, Naganadel is overall cool and I'm loving what this gen did for poison.

If you're really Bog, I like your comic - it's been inspiring me to want to make my own stories. It's always great seeing your character designs too - I've always loved monster stuff - but how do you come up with those characters though? Sometimes it just seems hard trying to be creative like a "blank page fear" thing.

So, the obvious question to ask from here is,
when will he/she/they/xe/attackhelicopter fuck Fern? This webcomic about interdimensional baby theft is way behind on its required quota of benis in bagina action.

Yeah, its hard for CYOA to keep the players control the same as is at the start of the comic all the way through. A some point you start having to take more control as the story becomes more concrete and the audience gets bigger and harder to get coherent suggestions from.

Also if one more person comes in talking about Wendy like they are the first person in 800 comments to notice a similarity I'mma flip a bitch.

Also when do we get to visit the Candy Dungeon? Or you saving that for the inevitable patron only erotic adventure.

>And do you have a link to that catheter chick image?

someone posted it in the /aco/ thread

I think the real question is when are we going to date that cutie Burgrr. He may have fucked over Earth but he's a 10/10 heart stealer. Also probably a literal heart stealer

If there's a trick to creature design, it's really just "fuse things together." Even the most original monsters and aliens out there can be broken down into various animals or objects they draw from. Lots of video game bosses and enemies are just like "how would it look if a spider and a jellyfish merged together?"

I'm only JUST playing Bloodborne lately and the bosses are really superb, but you can point to any of them and say "that's kind of a big woodlouse" or "this is basically a slug with a bunch of coral for a face."

Amygdala's freaky head bubbling with eyeballs is literally just one of those gooey mesh stress ball toys. Anything in the room can become something cool through the right application.

Attached: mesh-stress-balls.jpg (531x552, 29K)

Thank you, I appreciate it Bog. That'll be something to practice around spitballing ideas of to see what's cool. Bloodborne is something I like a lot too, that and Lovecraftian stuff in general - if you haven't yet you should look at developer concept art for it sometime. It's interesting seeing their process for the bosses and monsters they made from 2D to 3D.

>Well, in the end, this was one of those situations where only like two people were overtly shitty, other people entered a hyper-defense mode because of it, and there wound up being way more rumors of drama than any actual drama. I think it's all back to normal now.
That's basically most of Sup Forums in a nutshell. Most people here are actually pretty reasonable adults, the only time it ever gets over the top is when Sup Forums (a conglomerate of actual racist neo-Nazis and braindead neckbeards who blame feminism for their lack of girlfriends) decides to start shit in other boards and spread their bullshit hate.

OP here, and I'd like to point out that I have no real beef with Bog or the majority of his fans, and I certainly didn't want to come off as some Sup Forumstard or the like. Whilst I do admit the situation is not as bad as "REEEEEEEEEEETHECOMICHASGONEFULLLEFTISTGASNOWSCREEE", problems still arise when moderators start deleting entire comments and suggestions due to minor slipups regarding the gender of a fictional character, which could potentially end up problematic in the long run, especially if such a thing continues beyond the initial appearance of said character and is extended towards any mentions of them from thereon out.

Attached: Crumbs3-cr[1].png (628x502, 267K)

leave it to bog to still find a way to inject social issues and ham handed 'representation' into something as outlandish as awful hospital. It's like if in the movie Labyrinth or some shit they added another human besides sarah who was trans or some shit.

I blame his wife, honestly.
