Yeah it always seem like they go too far one way or the other, like they just can't hit that old balance or are afraid of seeming unoriginal. Like you said, they either make them too on the scrawny or too thin side ( kind of like Gadot) or make her so buff it's really kind of off putting, like female body builder creepy. Yours, and my original above just seem right for the character.
is a bit closer to the body builder type but not quite too the creepy level, so not bad, certainly better than a lot of others. Especially since there's no overly blocky or too manish face.
I think part of the problem is how feminism has shifted in the past couple decades. She was always a symbol of female empowerment and that's cool but the extremism of modern feminists and social justice mixed with the more cancerous shit from hings like tumblr or the 'there's 38 genders' people, it's just muddied the waters too much. Seems like they try to pander too much instead of just sticking to their guns and staying true to the character. Shame too, she's one of the more interesting DC characters.

She is, but one of the issues plaguing her is that she isn't an was mode character. There isn't really some buzzword phrase you can repeat to describe how she works.
That, and DC keeps trying to make her into something she's not. First it was Superman-with-tits, now it's a Xena knockoff. Frankly, she's in the same quagmire of fucked public perception as Aquaman. To the point where they keep downplaying her unique elements in favor of more generic "badass" shit.

I certainly wouldn't count her out. Wonder Woman's broken powerful but Xena's pulled off some pretty crazy shit, killing gods included. It really depends on the amount of plot armor and what kind of mcguffins are involved.
Straight one on one fight though? No, probably not. Diana would be greatly impressed but unless her weakness (See: never really seems to be an actual weakness in practice) of bladed weapons allows Xena to actually hurt her then no. Xena's still basically a peak level human without powers and doesn't really have a way of hurting or even keeping up with Diana. Would probably still be fun to watch though.

I'd just like to say that the idea of Diana being invulnerable is kind of stupid. Not just because it invites unwelcome Superman comparisons, but mostly because it downplays the bracelets. If you need her to take a hit, just have her fuckin block it.

I suppose it would have been better to say she CAN be one of DC's more interesting characters when done right. Inconsistency and indecision plague a lot of their characters when it's not just flanderization, like the frequent Bats the Grumpy Justice Man.
She was Dead at the end of the series. Seriously though I think that was only temporary, a convenience for the plot. Like the couple times she did telekinesis and ki blasts during the weird China arcs...
Or actually take the hit, have some actual fucking tension and consequence.
