The Cartoon History of the Universe

Moon Girl?

Is that actually educational, or just "I FUCKIN' LOVE SCIENCE" circlejerking?

Crossed.

How old is the little shit stain? What are his interests?

10. He's into history and computers.

>history

Uber.

I got him Nazi porn last year.

Then he will enjoy Uber.

But dat purple drank dough.

Too redundant. And the last thing I want is for him to like Gillen.

If he's into history he might like Asterix. And they're age-appropriate for the most part. And they're good.

Usagi Yojimbo. There's quite a few stories about traditional Japanese crafts and food preparation.

Histeria.

That's actually a good idea.

He already has the Action Bible.

Good call. Don't know how I overlooked that.

Magneto: Testament

Usagi Yojimbo or Groo if he's a lightweight. Lone wolf and cub or Samurai executioner if he's hardcore.

Hard to determine that without an age, but I recently got Earth Before Us vol. 1 which has the most accurate dinosaurs I've ever seen this side of Saurian. It gives me nostalgia for the magic school bus.

If this has been ripped, I haven't seen it yet, but it was worth buying. The art is a bit simple, but it really does a good job.

Like, it goes into the weird shit Crocodiles went through in the Mesozoic, and the fun mammals and insects were up to at the same time.

Also, any of the Big Book Of series if there's a specific subject he's into.

Every PBS Kids shows. Like WordGirl, Martha Speaks, Cyberchase, Arthur, Wild Kratts and it’s not a cartoon but has some animation in it is the Electric Company. It’s not PBS kids but Crashbox from HBO Family is really good.

OP said "comic", user.

WordGirl has comics .

how old is he?

Nevermind, I just saw that he'S 10.
Maybe Alpha: Directions by Jens Harder? The artwork is incredible.

Also: Tintin.

Granted, they're not quite "history"-based, per se, but they are period comics.

Thanks.

Just make sure to avoid Tintin and the Congo. Your kid might be smart enough to understand if you explain its context (made a century ago, not very well researched and was chock-full of racial stereotypes) but otherwise, honestly, skip it.

>Not starting with Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, the actual first book

For real though, I admit I read it as a kid.

The fact is that both are just the worst of the Tintin albums, and are better appreciated as an adult because of the context of Herge's career.

>chock-full of racial stereotypes
You ever been to Africa? He went easy on them.

It was one of the only books Herge actively regretted making, and it's disrespectful to his work to assume he believed otherwise.

What doesn't help matters is that this book is all Herge's known for because of dumbfucks like yourself

So you haven't been to Africa, then?

the why why family

Age of Bronze is really good

How old is he, and what kind of educational are you looking for? If you're looking for stuff that could get him interested in history, there's Boxers and Saints, as well as Maus.

he's 10

Usagi Yojimbo.
Tell him it's set at a time that's like a Western with gunslingers, only they use Swords and serve either themselves or lords that command armies to enforce the law, or their will, or both.

There's enough violence and learning in each issue to keep a kid's attention.

Level Up and Secret Coders by Gene Yang
Jim Ottaviani has a ton of history/science stuff too

one of the coolest books I own

Get him a realistic book. Fuck your PG bullshit. "Age-appropriate" like that's even something that exists outside of books. The REAL world doesn't care how old you are. It'll shit on you no matter what and your nephew should be prepared. Give him something like Hellboy or spawn. Get him into something that will teach him to overcome adversity and the hellhole that is Earth. Spider-Man Todd McFarlane would be a great start. It's not rated R but it's definitely not something the average Jesus ball sucking Christian would want their children reading. Spidey stops child killers and all kinds of shit.

Pic related is like Christian's view of the world. Let's portray ourselfs and our fiction as perfect, even though the world is far from such irrelevancies.

Lucky Luke is sprinkled with a few historical facts.

If he likes bees, Clan Apis is a must

Definitely; not a lot of text, but the art is amazing; and it's also a very realistic explanation of the creation of the universe from the Big Bang to dinosaurs. Easier than reading Carl Sagan or Hubert Reeves.

Highly recommended.

Clan Apis is amazing.

>The Cartoon History of the Universe

First post unquestionably best post.

I can't recommend The Cartoon History of the Universe enough, user, it's just so completely and totally unquestionably kino. I'd recommend it to anyone with eyes.

It's just so fuckin' good, my dude. It's great. It doesn't get enough praise.

Asterix.

Don't give him shitty comics
Give him Horrible Histories, "The Knowledge" and Murderous Maths books

Flintstones?
