Seriously, France is possibly the language most dominated by random decisions sneaking into daily usage in Western Europe.
English at least patchworked itself into existence following ten different spelling rules from various languages.
French just started with a word, ground it down to half of it and keeps insisting to write it all out according to some random convention among medieval monks that hardly made any sense at the time.
You want to see language by committee, look at modern German.
That's 100% sexist, racist, chauvinist, homophobic, monarchist white Christian men laying out cut-and-dry rules for a gendered, case-heavy language that relies on making very long, hard nouns for penetrating any new subject matter.
