Also: using that chick from die antwoord as a model for Magik is a godawful idea. She looks like a used-up crackwhore. I suppose props to the artist are in order for capturing essence of her crackwhore-ness.

Current Magik started out as a soulless copy of the original made just before she was de-aged and later died of the legacy virus.
The copy eventually recovered some magical stones that had made from the original's soul.

How does that even work? If someone is concious, sapient, sentient, able to think and make decisions and is alive, that means they have a soul. Ben Parker and other clones have souls, why wouldn't a magical clone have one?

She wasn't deaged, they ran into an alternate Illyana in Limbo, 616-Illyana was burned to a crisp during Inferno and pulled a switcheroo before she died. Her charred corpse was shown in the Inferno-Babies arc of New Mutants. I haven't read the story of how Belasco made that copy, but he used her corpse wouldn't that make her the original?
