With Cotugno as a director the chances of that happening are literally nul, given the released synopsis for Tough Love Meteora is probably not going to stay as a villain and she'll be instead the posterchild for promoting the show's dindu policies. When he killed Moon's mom, he did it cause he didn't agree with the Mewni peace treaty for whatever reason. But after that Moon showed him that magic was able to kill his kind. Since then, his whole goal was simply to remove that threat to his people.

If it were just that, I think people would be sympathetic towards Marco like they were with Star in Season 2. It's more the fact that Marco and Star seem to be using other people just to have more cucking drama in their relationship.
