Do you ever try to escape this right wing echo chamber by listening to anyone from the left? If so whom

Do you ever try to escape this right wing echo chamber by listening to anyone from the left? If so whom.

Well my roommates are leftists and my gf is but has been refilled. I mostly just don't talk politics with the roommates because theyre bad at not vilifying opposition and argue like fascists.

I go on reddit every once in a while.

My nigga frank didn't give a fuck. He just was trying to ride out his last year

Real life.

I avoid talking politics IRL but couldn't help myself defending Trump in front of my boss and colleagues.

Everyone here just repeat the same thing they've heard on tv, it's frightening. It's so easy to beat them in a debat that I make sure to not make a fool a them in front of everyone, cause you know, people think they are smart and really use their brain while they're just brain dead goyim parroting the electric jew.

I like to go gentle on the gentiles.

All you have to do in Leafland is turn on the news desu

do you not get called racist, xenophobic, islamaphobic, or homophobic?

I try not to discuss politics IRL because I dont want people yelling at me that im some kind of bigot

I read a very lefty, champagne lefty, newspaper - it just hardens my views

I have friends that are super liberal. When I tried to explain the numerous legitimate reasons why Hillary was a terrible choice, all they said back was "but trump grabs women by the pussy!". Makes me sad because outside of politics they're good friends.

>I try not to discuss politics IRL because I dont want people yelling at me that im some kind of bigot

aka the reason why every single pre-election poll was wrong

Most of my news is lefty. Funnily enough that's what pushes me more away from them.
Also I listen and read quite a lot of Sam Harris.

Yesterday I was in this echo chamber AND listening to my roommates bitch about Trump at the same time.

Funny thing is one of them is Green Party, so I don't know why she was complaining about the results. What'd she expect? At least they both seemed to hate both candidates, they just hated Trump more.

I'm surrounded by leftist imbeciles, all they ever talk about is how much they hate trump and how white people are bad despite them being white themselves.

Pol is a sanctuary

I like to go on leftist facebook pages sometimes to see what they're talking about

Kek I remember that game

I check out joe Rogan s podcast when the echoing silence becomes to one sided they're fags but they like masculinity and dislike sjws so they ok for a pallet cleanser imo

Sup Forums is the First Amendment in action

you are confused

sage

I try to avoid politics in general. I've grown so tired of leftist subversives that I will do something I regret one of these days. I'm just trying to push it off until most of my family is gone.

Learn2spin & be centrist
Obviously practice on reddit before going autismo IRL
Islam is the easiest to counter surprisingly: I'm Wahabbi-Islamophobic
while any difficult to defend thing like racism/ xenophobia/ deportations, use economy & budget to counter instead
let them win a little, it's like playing fishing

I read Jacobin

Virtually everyone of my friends are liberal but that does not matter because most people are liberal here to, the left has pushed a huge tract of liberals to move right.

My liberal views
>I dont give a shit about race mixing
>I dont care if gay people wanna get married
>I dont care if people want to get abortions
>I dont care about drugs
>I dont care what religion a person follows

Right wing views according to the left

>White people are not responsible for the actions of their leaders or ancestors
>White people have the best most open and free societies on earth
>Africans, Arab, Indian and aboriginal men are ten times more sexist, racist and violent than white men
>Illegal immigrants should be deported and not allowed in, in the first place
>Nationalism is not a bad thing
>affirmative action in any form is racist and discriminatory

So basically to sum it up, anti white racism has driven millions of people away from liberalism and there will be a reckoning.

>Do you ever try to escape this right wing echo chamber by listening to anyone from the left? If so whom.

The Media.

George Galloway. Actually when I discovered horseshoe theory.

Yeah I did a double degree in business management majoring in HR and political science with a focus on political philosophy and internationalism.

It turned me into a communist.

The problem with Sup Forums is that it lacks depth. People on here who know how to make a political argument and know how to separate their opinions from the arguments they get into are few and far between. More often than not you end up in "debates" where your opponent is not just completely unwilling to participate in good faith but proud of the fact that they won't. Being the loudest and most aggressive person is trumpeted as an achievement, and the less you listen to your opponent the more right you are. It annoys me.

That said, the standard of discourse here is still much higher than the average university lecture theatre or tutorial because Sup Forums, at least, isn't afraid to tell you what it thinks.

Theres only two dinstictions of prosperity. The right or wrong way.

>"debates" where your opponent is not just completely unwilling to participate in good faith but proud of the fact that they won't

That actually mirrors real life 100% in my experience.

I frequently watch liberal leaning youtube videos. I watch CNN on a daily basis to hear what drivel they're spewing. I check out comment sections on HuffPo and other liberal outlets.

This isn't an echo chamber. We frequently provide links to liberal opinions.

Their opinions have been weighed, measured, and found lacking.

Definitely it happens in real life too if the kind of debates you get into are impromptu "on the street" kinda stuff, but if you go to places that are for debating - like university, or like a debate club or student forum or panel discussion - you get a much more reasonable and engaging reaction most of the time.

I don't really expect Sup Forums to be highbrow or anything, and it is better than all the other "on the street" debating that occurs, but the number of times I've seen somebody say things that are blatantly wrong and recognisably so with only a few minutes of reading - like "liberalism is just soft communism" when liberalism and socialism are completely philosophically incompatible because liberalism supports the plurality of goods whereas communism maintains an objective rational good - is frustrating.

But at least on Sup Forums people actually talk about these things. People IRL just parrot news media talking points instead of focusing on the big ideas that actually matter.

I try... I try to listen to them, but there's no nuance. They're trapped in the bluepill bubble.

>right wing echo chamber

It's a Trump echo chamber these days. And Trump's rhetoric isn't right wing. We'll see if he's right wing in practice come January.

I read the Atlantic, sometimes Slate, Salon, even Jacobin.

Dave Rubin and Joe Rogan even though they're more libertarian than liberal nowadays. At least they invite liberal guests to their podcasts.

Any "normal" American news outlets, literally all of FB, Imgur, Reddit, any social media essentially

the left owns the internet for the most part, places like Sup Forums are rare

Actually everytime i am at university, or read some newspaper or listen radio or watch tv.
So i have enough input from the left.
That said, im glad there is something like pol.
Keeps me sane. Otherwise, maybe i would be some nigger-hugging refugees welcome fagot too. Glad im not.

>people think they are smart and really use their brain while they're just brain dead goyim parroting the electric jew.

This so much.

It's painfully obvious when talking to someone who only listens to one media source. I've seen people unironically parroting huffpost talking points and coming across like they think they are some prime intellectual for doing so. It's so sad.

If only they could comprehend for a second how little they actually know.

> if you go to places that are for debating

That's student life, not real life. All real life "debates" on politics are on the street kind of stuff. If that's your standard it's an unrealistic one because it takes place in an intensely artificial environment.

I listen to On the media, NPR, Thus American Life,!watch the occasional Woody Allen movie...
I listen to every senate or congressional hearing that I can.

Nice worth- and meaningless papers there, m8.
Hope you get some free helicopter ride some day.

i work for disney.

every wall in the office has some gay pride poster

>That's student life, not real life
I've participated in a few discussion clubs since I've left uni and the difference between educated professionals and Sup Forums is like night and day.

>If that's your standard it's an unrealistic one because it takes place in an intensely artificial environment.
I think it would be more accurate to say the vast majority of people have no real education in political philosophy and so expecting them to be able to have meaningful debate is silly, and this definitely applies to Sup Forums.

I don't expect meaningful debate here or on the street, though both occasionally surprise me. It just annoys me that Sup Forums is so opinionated when it's so unqualified. And I don't mean "unqualified" as in "disagrees with me" and I don't even mean "unqualifed" as in "has no formal education," I mean "unqualified" as in "has never read a single journal article relating to any aspect of political philosophy at all, let alone a book other than by meme ideologues like Friedman."

I've got a graduate job so I'm happy. HR is a great industry to get into because it's so transferable. Everyone has a HR department so it doesn't even matter which segment of the economy is booming or in bust because someone's always hiring. The work is boring but if it was fun they wouldn't have to pay me to do it, and parts of it are enjoyable.

Harry Shearer - Simpson's voice actor has a pretty good podcast and he's a bernie level leftist.
