SS and the Milligan series are all I knew him from but I've been catching up on Changing Girl so wanted to read the original

This died in the DC Implosion, right?
Did you happen to see the Fall 2018 DC Catalog? There's a Nathaniel Dust collection listed in it.
Jacob Perez
Yup, the last issue is in Cancelled Comics Cavalcade #2
Also I did see that collection, great timing on it, too. I should post Nathaniel Dusk II some time.

This almost feels like Ditko's answer to Kirby's Fourth World saga a few years earlier. Not in a vengeful or jealous way, just "this classic Marvel artist developed a rich sci-fi world with psychedelic artwork and an epic story, let's get another one to do the same" and this is that with a Ditko twist
More likely I'm reading too much into it though
Jaxon Lewis
Does that mean Changing Girl is the equivalent of King's Mister Miracle?
No, no it doesn't

I'm gonna be re-reading the Vertigo series soon for the first time since I was like 20, so I'm interested to see how I look at with knowledge of the original

I picked up Shade the Changing Woman issue 1 because I really liked the cover art. I was very confused reading it though. How far back do I need to go to understand Shade the Changing _____
Tyler Phillips
There's also an Agent Diana Prince omni, which I wasn't expecting.
Juan Jones
Only half of the Vertigo series has been collected into TPB format and it drives me insane.
Owen Bell
Changing Girl is only thematically related to previous series. It might seem confusing at first with all the stuff about Meta but it's all explained in time.
Woman is a sequel to Girl
Oh yeah I saw that! Instant buy for me. I'm guessing the movie has made it so they can basically reprint anything Wondie related and it'll sell enough.
Carson Edwards
Jack Murphy
For that, start with Shade, the Changing Girl from 2016-2017.
It draws some stuff from the late 1980/90s DC/Vertigo series but can be read as a standalone.
Carson Morgan
Logan Thompson

I'm really loving how different from Ditko's other stuff this is. Doctor Strange, Question/Mr. A, Creeper, obviously Spider-Man, they all stand completely on their own.
Hawk and Dove was a bit of a dud, though

Only 19 issues out of 70.
The older Milligan series is well done for the most part, and explains what is going on very quickly. It doesn't have any direct-direct connections to the first series, or Changing Girl. I think they only really share some names (Rac, Mellu, Wizor, and planet Meta).
Brayden Bell
No prob, I think Changing Girl is one of the best comics of recent years. It doesn't have that problem a lot of other non-cape comics have where they feel kind of like pitches for TV or movies, it's just a genuinely creative expression of the author's feelings with really good art.
Henry Torres
Nicholas Russell
Changing Girl is similar to Way's Doom Patrol where it's kind of sort of loosely connected to the run it's inspired by (Morrison's DP, Milligan's Shade) and ignores anything else that's been done with the characters
DP is a little more explicit though with characters referencing specific events from that run

>ignores anything else that's been done with the characters
Isn't that what should have been done with Shade? After all (ending spoilers) it ends with him time travelling back before the story started, and trying to do things in a different way. Milligan ignored that ending himself when he wrote Hellblazer later on and seems to believe that #50 was the real ending to the series.
Isaac Jenkins
Recently read this mini, it was surprisingly pretty good
Dylan White
I've only read the first two TPBs because that was the only way available to me to read the comic at the time
