Aside from the thick ass, this has pretty much nothing going for it. Much like Russian cinema, Russian animation is a pale ghost of what it was during the Soviet era. At best, it rivals good made for TV movies from the West. As for 3D animation, it's at least two decades behind.

It's always going to be compared to the original, so there's that. Of course anything will look bad next to that classic. The characters are nowhere near as charismatic, and that bulldog is Scrappy Doo tier annoying. But it's not TOO bad, somewhere on the level of your average "animals do random shit" Dreamworks movie in entertainment value. And then if you compare it to the more recent shit like "Three Heroes 15: the heroes vote for Putin", it has a lot more heart than that cash-in shit..
