I'm not sure why you'd think that people would be upset by them using the song from the film simply because Kristoff is played by a black actor? The race of the actor doesn't change the role of Kristoff. Disney Theatrical uses (theoretically) color blind casting for these roles.
There's a somewhat bizarre number with the sauna character where he and his entire family come out in mini-towels. Anna, I've heard, ends up donning one. Close enough!

No, they don't say Kristoff is black in the story. None of the characters in Frozen have a specific race, so an actor of any ethnicity can play them. Disney does this with all of their shows. I don't know if he's supposed to be Saami in the show, but since they didn't really bring it up in the film I doubt it.
