Why do people like to pretend that Ms. Marvel never happened?

Why do people like to pretend that Ms. Marvel never happened?

Why are "fans" of Carol isnistent on propping up KSD's work on the character when it was highly mediocre and nothing memorable happened aside from the costume change and name change? I mean really. What even happened?

People act like KSD did for Carol what DnA did for GotG when that's complete bullshit.

Why do media outlets continue to jerk off KSD and ignore Brian Reed? Why do Carol """fans""" act like Brian Reed never existed?

Why is Marvel pushing the Captain Marvel era of Carol as being definitive when the Brian Reed version way more likable. Everything KSD did for the character was a step backwards.

I just don't fucking get it.

Who exactly is doing any of this?

Cause there already ms marvel.

>People act like KSD did for Carol what DnA did for GotG when that's complete bullshit.
In both floppies and trades, KSD's Captain Marvel sells worse than Tony Daniel's Deathstroke.

Is this some trap question so then OP says "normies and blogs" and then you reply "who cares"? Because it's quite clear the companies do.

If this is a serious question you're too young to be on the internet.

>what DnA did for GotG
Ride Giffen's coattails for 25 mediocre event-hopping issues?

Carol doesn't have fans though

^This. Any she did have only loved her for her tits and ass which are nothing more than a distant memory now.

I was a fan of the old Brian Reed run, sadly KSD kinda flew Carol into the ground after that run ended

Because Brian Reed’s Carol is completely and utterly irrelevant. I don’t know why you would expect there to be consistent mention of a barely average run from over a decade ago. It wasn’t good enough to set a bar to be aped off of for years like Miller’s Daredevil or Morrison’s X-Men.
KSD’s run was trash but it set her up for where Carol is right now.

>I don't know why you would expect anyone to like an average book when they can like a completely garbage one instead
Checks out

I like Carol, and wished she was back in her warbird uniform and notoriety.

Mainstream/casual fans. Marvel themselves.
It's the best rendition and one of the longest runs the character's had. It's great. You have shit taste.

Thanks for having good taste.

>What even happened?

Well, she did decide that the word of a foreign agent of uncertain loyalty was more important the Spiderman's civil rights.

>pic related

It wasn’t great. It was really standard superhero shit that reached absolute heights of being sort of decent.
Also.

Scary and kind of funny how she went from feminine curves and long hair to Captain short haired dyke. Ultrapowered characters are the ones who can pull off leotards.

You're not making any point other than the fact that Marvel decided to go with KSD's run other than Brian Reed's run. But the question posited in the OP is WHY this is happening. So really you're the one missing the point.

Christ so you need me to spell everything out for you?

Brian Reed's run is no longer relevant and forgettable.
Marvel wants to revamp Carol as Captain Marvel.
KSD does this.
Carol is now Captain Marvel.
Ms. Marvel (2006) remains irrelevant and is forgotten.

BOSS OF SPACE

Carol doesn’t sell at all period.

bump

just look at the sales numbers

>Ms Marvel #14, Brian Reed´s (2006 - 2010) 42,833 units sold

>Captain Marvel#14 KSD (2012 - 2013) 19,320 units sold

the new "Carol Danvers" was a huge mistake but Marvel (Disney) don´t care.
just give up user, Marvel is a lost cause.

Literally, as they wipe Carol's brain again so they can write her without having to reference anything from her past 30 years.

So if she kept the cover-all costume, but got back her curves and personality, would you read The Adventures of Carol?

Ms. Marvel's push is probably most hilarious failed attempt at pushing the character in recent years.

The amount of push she is getting is proportionate to how little she actually offers. Only time she was ever interesting was when she was an alcoholic or Spider-man's not-sidechick.

I think movie has a shot at succeeding at pushing her to the moviegoers but only if they take everything Carol is and do the opposite.

I mean I can remember what happened in some of KSD's issues and I wasn't bored to death. I can't say that about Reed

You know it's still going to make bank just because it's an MCU movie. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney isn't using Marvel films in a massive money laundering scheme. The built in audience would be the perfect cover, and they would get to pad their ticket sales.

only her old personality would be a huge improvement, i´m already tired of the frigid bitch she´s now, is like she is not allowed to be a likable character anymore.

Angry Carol a best.

Like, does anyone have that pic of Carol prepping a Final Flash? That comparison always seemed fitting to me, Ms. Marvel has always been Vegeta, but now they're trying to turn Captain Marvel into Goku.

Marvel is pushing her hard to be the next Wonder Woman, though Diana has years and personality to help her alot, while carol is useless and it has only Mar-Vell to back her heritage

Monica would had been a perfect Captain Marvel, since she has more story and personality than her, but marvel seems to forget that she exists.

but then, South Californians are racists dicks when it comes to black characters, unless is SJW shit.

Monica is garbage, Carol is better in every way.

It appears they've waited too long. If they think they're "replacing" Cap for Cap and keeping the same amount of fans they're insane. The MCU wrllcwill be dry after A4 if they plan on going full legacy retard mode.

Cap America is confirmed done after A4 so they better hope the "woke" crowd is enough when the casuals move on.

This is a bait thread isn't it...

Carol was always shit, you're just butthurt that you have to go jerk it to actual porn like a normal person instead of funnybooks now

>Why are "fans" of Carol isnistent on propping up KSD's work on the character when it was highly mediocre and nothing memorable happened aside from the costume change and name change?

Because they get attention from her. She interacts/ed with them. She reblogs their art. They get their pics in the comic. They drew some of the fuckers into the comic. It's not hard to see why people would be pleased by sempai acknowledging them. It's how you build a loyal audience.

What I want to know is where all these people that supposedly cared about Ms.Marvel Carol before came from.

>Ms. Marvel has always been Vegeta
I would read the shit out of that book.

The Mouse gives marching orders and the drones obey.

I uninronically like her Warbird outfit.

Never forget, never forgive

Shit taste

Notice I only talked about her personality. I don’t give a shit about the costume. Nice projection though m8

Marketing. It's the same kind of reason why JaneThor was announced on The fucking View of all places.

Comics in general have always struggled to keep their female headliners both relevant and popular, and with the properties (though not necessarily the floppies themselves) becoming way more mainstream and drawing in a much wider demographic than they used to, it's as important as it ever was to keep a female lead in the spotlight.

DC's got the edge: Wonder Woman. Even before her movie, you ask any normie on the street to name a female hero and WW's gonna be the first name they pick. Who has Marvel got? A lot of their top names are tied up with other studios: Storm, Jean, Rogue, Sue Storm, She-Hulk, Spider-Woman. Or they'd have trouble carrying a solo film, like Wasp, Black Widow, or Scarlet Witch.

Captain Marvel has some of the ingredients for a pop culture icon: Recognizable name, iconic costume, fun power set, relatively unique concept (in broad strokes, a flying brick chick who's former military and fights space aliens). The problem: She lacks mainstream saturation, and she's the sidekick/legacy inheritor of a character who hasn't been relevant in almost 40 years. So how do they fix that?

The first part is easy. Let's go back to Black Widow. She's always been a side character. The things she's most famous for are dating Daredevil and being the spy chick on the superteams. She was put into Iron Man 2 in a minor role, which lead to her being in the Avengers... and people ate that shit up. BW as a character has never been terribly important but now you have normies watching the movies thinking she's the hottest shit and demanding she have her own movie. That seems great and all, but a solo Black Widow movie would either be too dark for the kiddies or too watered-down for the grownups: she's basically James Bond in latex. But the exposure here is the important part, just a small bit of exposure lead to her skyrocketing in mainstream popularity.

(continued)
Enter Carol Danvers. She can lead a much more exciting but still kid-friendly movie, isn't tied up in anyone else's film rights. The only problem is her origin is as the sidekick of a male character who died 30 years ago.

So what we're seeing is Marvel doing two things: The first, market the shit out of the character. Saturate the media with her. Make sure everyone knows about the Captain Marvel comic starring Carol Danvers, so that even people who don't read comics start to recognize the name and the image.

Second, distance her origin from Marr-Vell. Establish her as an independent hero, not tied to the legacy of a dead man. Make her fresh and accessible. And above all, make her IMPORTANT. Show her in the front of every line-up, add her to the roster of every team, include her in every game. Make her the focus of big events. Manufacture her importance as the female figurehead of Marvel. And to do that, they need to distance themselves from the older comics. Make them irrelevant.

Movies sell merch. Merch makes money. Floppies don't. It's just the way the industry has turned out.

So we have to defeat her to move on to the next level that lies beyond Space?

Nobody likes her, to tell you the truth, I do not think anyone has ever liked her, she's always been a sexy bimbo with super powers, the generics ones, fly, super strength, invulnerability, you know ... poorly explained superman shit, she never had anything special, is she hot? 90% of comic book characters are and her personality is also boring.

Then for some reason they masculinized her, and they said, "Now she's important," she went from super sexy bimbo to super bland androgynous leader ... at least before she was pretty
