Symbiotes are a dying breed. We once had more Symbiotes than you could shake a stick at: Venom, Carnage, Toxin, Phage, Lasher, Scream, Agony, Riot, Mania, Raze, Anti-Venom, Hybrid even though that one's cheating.
Nowadays they're a dying breed. Venom, Anti-Venom, Carnage and Hybrid I think are the only one's left alive. Even most of the hosts themselves are dead like Pat and Scott. I'm okay with Toxin staying dead, but Scream and Mania should absolutely still be around. It's a crime that Agent Anti-Venom and Mania don't have their team-up book back with Scream as Mania's rival.

I mean, I'm pretty sure the symbiote itself is dead too, not just the person under it. Eddie's goal was to murder the symbiote more so than her, I think he just also didn't care that she was wearing it while he did it.

Plus, the Carnage symbiote was once thought to be dead, but it later emerged from Cletus again because it bonded with him on a molecular level, so you could say that the same thing happened. It's really easy to come up with some bullshit science-babble.

I think she'll be back at the end of the year to be honest. We know the Venom movie is part Lethal Protector, we know it features the Life Foundation, we know it hints at 5 other Symbiotes aside from Venom (Scream, Phage, Lasher, Riot & Agony), and we know Donna is confirmed for the movie.
I highly doubt Marvel will let Donna (and the rest of the OG Life Foundation team) stay dead when they have a film to promote. Pete donned the black suit again for literally no other reason than Spidey 3 was doing the Black Suit saga.
Hilarious that Scream and Co will get their cinematic debut before Carnage though.

I'm pretty sure Venom and Carnage will always be the most well known symbiote characters, considering they were the originals. In terms of popularity/people know who they are factor, Flash comes after them, then Mania, then Scream, and then the rest of them. Flash and Mania have a fanbase, but they're only known to comic readers...Scream had the biggest fanbase of the 90s post Carnage characters, but even still she's fairly obscure and even many comic fans probably don't remember her well, EVERYBODY knows Venom and Carnage even if they're not fans, and after that the other symbiotes are pretty much "literally whos" as far as most people are concerned

Technically only Scott died. Remender killed him off, but the Hybrid symbiote itself was being used in Carnage U.S.A that came out around the same time. Carnage U.S.A #5 released the week after the issue where Scream was killed, and still had the Hybrid symbiote alive and well. Hybrid was even used later on during the Deadpool vs Carnage mini.

Carnage should be saved for his own film, rather than be a villain in the Venom movie. It sounds weird, but Carnage could actually break new ground for Capeshit. We've had pretty much every genre and rating of comic book movie since Marvel struck gold with Iron Man 1. We've never had a straight Horror Cape movie. Spawn and the first Blade tried to be, but they weren't really horror. 30 Days of night was a comic book adaptation, but not a cape film. A Carnage movie could be the first ever R-rated horror comic book movie. Seems more valuable than just throwing him in to a Venom sequel, especially when the first film will feature FIVE different "evil" symbiotes.
I imagine if a Carnage horror film takes off, it could open the doors for a whole genre of capekiller movies.
