Back before men were as easily triggered as women.

the simpsons as a whole, who can relate to not havving a brokeb family?

It could but it'd pay a lot more towards the idea of general spiritualism/accepting all religions.
It's a toss up whether or not Ned would be obnoxious Fundie Ned or Boring Wuss Ned.

The gun episode would definitely ditch the parts about there being such thing as responsible gun owners and humoring the idea that it could be useful for self-defense.

Yep, they'd have the NRA members be just as irresponsible as Homer and Lisa would organise a gun control protest group to save the town.

You'd still get assblasted trumptards treating every single joke as an attack on the constitution.

>Homer the Heretic would be an episode about Lisa talking down to the town for following a hypocritical religion, with a subplot with Rod and Tod going to a jesus camp and learning to hate themselves ending with a failed suicide.

Simpsons existed as a form of anarchy. That's what Matt was known for. It's why even a president publicly condemned the Simpsons. Now, more than ever, we need a real successor to the Simpsons. An anarchist show with heart.

Careful there, you might summon Sup Forums here.

I feel like Rick & Morty was shaping up to be that, looking at public reception, but the creators couldn't handle it.

we can still save the series if we pretend Season 3 was just a simulation.
I mean, season 2 literally ends with Rick in galactic prision and the first episode of the third explains how deep simulations go

The episode is literally about people of different faiths coming together, it could absolutely air today.

Why wouldn't it work?

>Sup Forumsmblina can not post with out mentioning Trump regardless of how unrelated the topic is

That looks fun as shit

Really, it didn't work even back then because that entire scene requires that Ned left church early.

we can't do crap, we're just anonymous shitposters. if the creators didn't hate what their fanbase had become, they could "fix" the series.

It wouldn't work because Homer the Heretic is actually fun. My favorite episode actually.

Was that the one where he got brainwashed by hippies?

No it's OP's the one where Homer decides not to go to Church.
Is basically the Buddhism episode.

Ah. I haven't watched simpsons in a while and for some reason the hippy episode was on repeat for about a month the last time I did watch it.

They will never dare place a non-christian religion as intolerant.

>Lisa would organise a gun control protest group to save the town.
Didn't that already happen?

It was a Halloween episode and her gun ban led Springfield being taken over by armed outlaw zombies

Literally nobody will get in trouble for making white men out to be total idiots in any medium. Nobody will champion that cause, user. They could make that tomorrow and not face an ounce of actual blowback that didn't amount to a few guys (rightfully) calling out the double standard.

>intolerant
Outside of a few episodes (nearly all from the Zombie Simpsons era), Rev Lovejoy has been portrayed more as a lazy hypocrite who just wants to play with his model trains than do his duty than any kind of bigot.
