I like the fact garnet has a personality now. I would hope that the show is getting better, but i know better when everything this decade has only given me false hope in life only to let me down miserably, this show included.

I still don't get why steven didn't bring up the sword. It was shown he did in the teaser! In all honesty I just think the Diamonds have a unique "Poof" and everyone mistook it for a shatter

We already know that it couldn't have really been Rose that did it in the first place unless the circumstances around the shattering were changed drastically.

Going by Eyeballs statements during the trial, and keeping with the inconsistencies about how Rose could have been there, I feel like the person who actually shattered her was Pearl shape-shifted to look like Rose at the last minute.

Though to be fair, that still doesn't really explain HOW Pearl shattered PD, since Roses sword couldn't do it and neither can her spear.

I wish Steven had brought it up to Garnet after the story was finished, or at least hint at the fact that he noticed the same inconsistency in Garnets story that came up in the Trial ep too.

William Diaz

What did she say?

Jayden Thompson
Jayden Thompson

Told the story of Roses rebellion that we know at this point couldn't have happened as Garnet describes it.

Though as it stands, it's more likely that Garnet was also lied to by Pearl/Rose and just thinks that's actually what happened.

Joshua Russell

garnet said rose shattered PD with her sword
according to bismuth who made the thang ding the sword was designed to destroy a gem's body without shattering it

Hunter Ross

the person who actually shattered her was Pearl shape-shifted to look like Rose

This, I don't know why anyone believes otherwise. It's been hinted at as much as Garnet being a fusion

Garnet and Pearl held Rose up to an almost messiah like point, a lot of the Crystal Gems did, so trying to tell them that Rose didn't shatter Pink would mostly fall on deaf ears.

I'm not sure why Steven's seeing visions through Pinks perspective, maybe he really is just Pink or something, but it's obviously important to the story since he's never done that with Rose's memories(I think, right?).

Pearl being the one to shatter or poof Pink seems unlikely unless Pink and Rose were having a meeting to discuss peaceful negotiations, and Pearl walked in and misinterpreted.

My theory is that Rose somehow got Pink to revert to Gem form, and placed her inside of her own Gem to keep her there.

Only reason Steven is seeing visions is because Pink is still alive and they're bleeding out to him.

Daniel Lewis

it would also explain why pearl never shapeshifts.

It's not a lie, if she thinks it's the truth.

Jonathan Price

Though to be fair, that still doesn't really explain HOW Pearl shattered PD
Pearl has normal iron swords though, and of course there are other gem weapons. The breaking point is the 'best' weapon to break a gem, not the only one. Remember how amethyst broke hers by simply falling from a height? Sure a diamond is harder, but these are fictional gems after all.

Garnet and Pearl held Rose up to an almost messiah like point, a lot of the Crystal Gems did, so trying to tell them that Rose didn't shatter Pink would mostly fall on deaf ears.

It doesn't really matter how highly they regard her at this point, both Garnet's and Homeworlds version of the story has inconsistencies that make the events that unfolded technically impossible.

I'm not sure why Steven's seeing visions through Pinks perspective, maybe he really is just Pink or something

That's something we still don't really know, for sure. Though it could be true that Pink is technically alive somehow.

Pearl being the one to shatter or poof Pink seems unlikely unless Pink and Rose were having a meeting to discuss peaceful negotiations, and Pearl walked in and misinterpreted.

I wouldn't think it's unlikely at all, depending on who Pearl belonged to at least. If she belonged to one of the diamonds or PD herself before changing sides, it makes sense as to why she would be able to approach PD directly even though she had an armed guard, why none of PD's sapphires gave any warning ((who would look into the future of what a Pearl would do?)), why no one saw 'Rose' approach and yet Eyeball saw 'Rose' deal the killing blow, and why Pearl nowadays gets extremely upset whenever the shattering of PD is mentioned, as well as why she dislikes shape-shifting.

placed her inside of her own Gem to keep her there.

That seems even more unlikely, desu.

Christian Ward
Christian Ward

I think Pearl's are an organic race (pearl isn't an actual gemstone) that Homeworld enslaved ages ago and made what they are now in a science version of how Steven was made. She doesn't shapeshift because it goes weird for her like it did for Steven.

I do think it was a shapeshift that killed PD, but I think it was WD, and Rose mind controlled Pearl to never reveal it because it wouldn't just stop the invasion of earth, it would destroy Gem society entirely. There has to be at least one more morally ambiguous reveal for Rose at the end of all of these, and suppressing the truth feels like the only option left that fits.

Christopher Butler
Christopher Butler

that seems really convoluted.

Ryan Moore
Ryan Moore

So I'm probably straying into tinfoil territory and all

But I'm starting to think that Steven could be Pink (possibly some form of punishment or agreed upon experiment with Pink), but Rose might be a separate entity, for all we know she could be bubbled and sitting in the temple or the chest in the pocket dimension. Which would explain the whole "connecting to the diamonds" power Steven has.

It could also be that Pink orchestrated the whole rebellion. She seems like the king of personality that once she had what she wanted she wouldn't appreciate it or immediately not want the responsibility, or something, and things got way out of hand in the aftermath of her shattering.

Leo Lopez

It's possible that Pearl was some kind of manchurian candidate planted by WD and she IS the one who killed PD, but either way I think WD is behind it. They've been too cagey with the WD reveals, and there's just something missing entirely for Rose or Rose/Pearl to have been responsible for it at this point. Pearl's pearl placement/WD's gem, etc, etc. Lot of early clues seemed to point to Pearl having been WD's. Either way, I think she really is physically incapable of telling the others what really happened, that fighting her own hand held over her mouth thing might've just been her being dramatic but didn't feel that way. And the earlier episode...Lion's Scabbard? Whatever it was, the scabbard reveal. The way she insists Rose would never have kept a secret from her, ESPECIALLY not her, goes beyond merely "I luuuuvs her so much and she loved me, really". It's said like there was a reason Rose knew Pearl would never be able to reveal her secrets.

Kayden Turner
Kayden Turner

Pearl might think Rose would never keep a secret from her, because Rose is carrying a big secret from others about Pearl, like that Pearl was really the one who shattered Pink.

And no, the "she literally can't say what happened because mind control" doesn't make much sense, as clearly Pearl refuses to do so for emotional reasons, not because of any mental block. The face she did when she thought Steven was asking about her was clearly not one of "This mental block is stopping me" but clearly a "I can't say this because it is too painful to explain"

Jordan Rivera
Jordan Rivera

If Rose isn't PD I'd bet everything Pearly killing PD (possibly to save Rose) is the truth.

Dominic Scott
Dominic Scott

Could be that instead of belonging to PD Pearl belonged to WD? That might bring her enough into the story in order for her to be somewhat relevant.

Could be she intentionally wanted PD gone because she was a burden, and that could potentially turn YD and BD against her.

As it is though, anything relating to WD at this point seems like pure guesswork, and I'm just going by what we know now.

David Price
David Price

See, I feel like that face is equally valid interpreted as trying to force herself to say something that mental conditioning wouldn't let her. Like not just upset that he asked, or at the memory, but almost in tears that she wants to fess up but can't.

Samuel Green
Samuel Green

Blue Diamond and Yellow seem to have loved PD regardless of her quite possi-probably being defective. Honestly, YD I'm not sure about. She seems to have a real mad-on against defectives and organic life. Could just be because of the Crystal Gems, and PD dying, though. But White Diamond maybe considered a defective diamond unacceptable. Give her the colony she's been begging for as a chance to kill her off and blame it on some kind of outside agency.

Honestly, I'd be willing to believe YD was in on it, either instead or also. She kind of seems like she manipulates BD's sadness over the whole thing a lot in the trial. But as far as Pearl being involved, the obvious connection seems to be more towards WD unless we finally get a reveal that provides an amazing reason for Rose or Pearl on her own to do it.

Oliver Diaz
Oliver Diaz

See, I don't have faith in the writers to keep that characterization consistent.
Garnets stoicism had dissapeared, her other traits might as well.

Adrian Hernandez

the obvious connection seems to be more towards WD unless we finally get a reveal that provides an amazing reason for Rose or Pearl on her own to do it.

Again, we know next to nothing about WD and basically no one has so much as mentioned her, so until we actually do get some kind of info on her, I'd figure it makes more sense for Pearl to have done it and Rose took the credit.

It's not that outlandish of an idea that they killed/poofed/stole away PD as a message to Homeworld that they weren't fucking around and to establish the CG's as a credible REAL threat. I mean most Homeworld gems revere the Diamonds like gods, who the hell would want or think they COULD fight a gem that killed one?

Jeremiah Cook

The interesting things that were shown in Your Mother and Mine are that PD is shown to not care at all about humans but we know that she had the zoo created for them. The other thing is that until PD's death, the characters are all shown as silhouettes but they are shown normally after that which may be the show attempting to disguise something.

Isaac Young
Isaac Young

I meant as far as Pearl having any prior history with a diamond. There were a few hints over the seasons that she was WD's, but then they seemed to drop that. She doesn't have any obvious connection to YD, and I agree we know nothing about WD. My only thing against/about YD is she seemed a little too intent on manipulating BD's sadness to gloss over inconsistencies during the trial. Could just be she hates Rose soooo much over it all and is absolutely sure she's guilty, or she could have been trying to cover something.

Basically it comes down to this.

As things stand, unless one of the diamonds was behind it the only 'answer' that makes sense currently is that 5 years of build up and intrigue is answered by, "Pink Diamond threatened Rose and Pearl straight up cut a bitch." Do I think the show could drop the ball that hard? I watched the finale of Gravity Falls. So...yes. Yes, I believe that is possible. But I'm really hoping there is more to it.

Here's the thing though, I am pretty sure that when you really get down to it, Rose doesn't give a shit about gemkind and instead just really likes humans and organic life. She never cared about changing how gems operate, she just wanted the native life of Earth to stay where it was, it's just a lot got built up around her.

Justin Stewart
Justin Stewart

See that's the thing it makes sense for her to be excited as shit in this episode because she loves fusions thats been a consistent element from the beginning of the series

Jeremiah Parker

Maybe Rose stuffed the shards of Pink Diamond inside her gem and has been siphoning power from them. That would explain the mural that had Rose holding up a diamond to fight the other diamond, Seven being able to see into Pink Diamond's memories, and Steven having so damn many powers.

Jayden Turner
Jayden Turner

This was one of the first pieces of evidence that there was a Pink Diamond to begin with.

Garnet has be just so gosh darn CUTE lately. She's always been best gem, but goddamn has she been fuckin great this season.

Also, I agree, we need to hear Rhodinite's story.
