In communism where does art come into play? It seems like in communism there would be no reason for movies, paintings, music, or anything else that is a net loss of utility to exist. Wouldn't they just be a waste of time/resources if there is no money to be made?
Why should the state allow some people to go off and waste time perfecting their acting ability while everyone else works in the fields?
The only reason I can think of is to entertain the serfs so they do not kill themselves, keep the workforce complacent and entertained, or training spies.
>Wouldn't they just be a waste of time/resources if there is no money to be made? Fundamental misunderstanding of communism. Can't conceptualize it through a market mentality.

>He hasn't watched soviet kino

originally communist art looked like this
Jonathan Edwards
But then stalin cucked the shit out of jews and their degenerate art was changed on socialist realism which is totally top tier. will post some russian art from that era

>You can make art in your free time after everyone's been fed, unlike in capitalism where you celebrate while your neighbors stave to death. Yeah, except that's not something that ever happened in capitalist societies where everyone has the leisure and can afford basic art supplies, but in communism people starved together, that much is true.

Well, Russia ended up with lots of playground "art", not sure if pic is post-Soviet or not.
Anthony Myers
Is it a coincidence that social realism art looks like renaissance art?
Gavin Peterson
I have to give Stalin one thing he was a rather handsome man.

If you don't mind, a question for you first. Any 15 year old with a mild interest in art is aware of the wide acclaim that soviet art enjoys, which leads me to believe that you're either trolling or retarded. Why should anyone bother answering your question?
Nolan Lopez
Soviet Union wasn't true communism. In a true communist world where is the room for the arts?
Asher Green
In a true post-scarcity communist society people wouldn't have to work if they don't choose to. Arts would thrive as before, and even more when people are freed from menial labour and can pursue their artistic passions freely. Artists don't stop creating art just because there's no material benefit in it - where do you think the "starving artist" cliche comes from?
Cooper Gonzalez
Movies/Games/Music with expensive budgets are made for future revenues. Unless the artists are already rich enough to support themselves most art would not be made if it weren't for monetary returns.
Zachary Myers
You don't understand. Communism is means a classless, moneyless, stateless society. There would be no concept of revenue or monetary richness. Everyone's needs would be provided for. Thus there is no need to worry about whether movies/games/music would generate profit.
Connor Hall
Most art is made from the incentive of money. True artists would make art in their leisure, but lots of great art is made to make money. Marx did not believe in abolishing money.
Matthew Smith
again this shitty thread? op fuck you sage
Wyatt Russell
Yes, lots of great art is made for the purpose of acquiring money. It doesn't mean that the arts would disappear or decrease in quality. I've already addressed your point.
Owen Ortiz
And others have said that art disappears if it's anything than state propaganda. Artists are deemed social parasites and are executed.
