Alt-right is mostly libertarians and right-leaning types who got tired of losing and woke up to demographic realities - namely, that no matter how good and decent the average mexican/muslim/african whatever is, as a demographic they will vote away all your most treasured rights and raise your taxes while slowly choking out the culture you prefer to live in. No evil intent required, just breeding above replacement rate and voting.
Trump gave them something to rally behind, but campaigns are fun by design while actually governing is boring as shit. Alt right will naturally go through some growing pains as it adjusts, which sadly has to occur just as the (((media))) is attempting to paint it as a white supremacist movement. This is a shell game; a grasp of demographic realities requires no hate or bigotry of any kind, though they certainly don't preclude it. I'll reiterate: millions of perfectly decent, friendly brown immigrants may all be great friends and neighbors, but they'll also change your government and your culture in unacceptable ways, and there is currently no means by which to escape that in the West.
Fortunately the alt-right is very adaptive. Give it time and it'll find new direction.
