All in all we've simply answered people that economics are secondary, they don't matter in such a way as to be a fundamental and defining element of Fascism. The answer didn't change, however there is now a way in which we can describe this attitude to economics, and it's actually a word we've used repeatedly in reference to Fascism anyway: Socialism.

It would be more accurate to say that to Fascism, Socialism is the definitive social structure which is more comparable to the structures of Individualism and Collectivism, yet it stands in opposition to those two structures as well.

We had several really good /nsg/ threads just yesterday. NatSoc definitely isn't dead on Sup Forums
Bump, I have a bunch of questions about NatSoc. I like the third way economic aspect of it, but I just can't get on board with the social authoritarianism. If the people are happy, the nation is happy IMO. Is it true that the Nazis limited civil liberties like gun ownership and political dissent, or is that all Jew propaganda? Thanks.

Read Mein Kampf first. Then it's up to you, but Nazi-Sozi, Manifesto For The Abolition of Interest Slavery, Zweites Buch, and Culture of Critique are good starters.

I'm still studying NatSoc myself, and I haven't broached that topic yet. I do have some insight to share though.
You're correct that a happy people equates to a happy nation. In German NatSoc, the goal of the leaders of the people was to lead the people well, unlike in democracy where the goal is to be reelected. Thus the actions taken by the nation through the leadership are done in order to elevate the people, just as the actions of the people are done to elevate the nation. The people and the nation work in tandem, rather than as opposing forces. The people are not seen as a resource- votes to be harvested. Rather, they are seen as an integral aspect of the nation that must be respected.
While civil liberties may have been curbed, the German people experienced tremendous freedom. However, freedom was defined in regards to economics, not their liberties. People in modern western countries are slaves to money, unless they become wealthy enough to disregard cost. They may have all the liberties they like, but so long as they are beholden to money they will never really be free.
These different definitions create a bit of translation error. Whether or not you agree that the fascist definition of freedom is better than the classical liberal definition of freedom is your opinion to have.

They could enjoy life. Have seen them in videos and pictures? I've never seen a people so happy.
Economic freedom was granted by removing the scarcity factor for German people. Think of a modern welfare state that protected the people, but was also protected from the sorts of leeching we see in the USA. The people that rode the government dime and were parasites to society were expelled from the society. The people that were in need were given what they needed, but in return they had to contribute to the nation through quality labor.
Thus you had a system that rewarded the people who worked hard and removed the people that sought to abuse the welfare state. Therefore, no honest, hardworking German was beholden to money in order to survive.
There are specifics that I could cite to you, but it would take me some time to find them. I can only detail the idea behind the system off the top of my head

If you were in need then your labor would be conscripted in service of the nation. In return the nation would provide for you your necessities. If you wanted to be a vagrant then you had no place in the fascist society and would be expelled. I don't recall the exact mechanism for expulsion the Germans used, though I would wager it would be deportation, similar to how they deported the Jews.
Under NatSoc there would be no welfare recipient that didn't have a job, and as soon as their needs were met they were cut off in order to self actualize.
In that document I linked you, #12:
"There will be fewer drunkards and degenerates under Fascism because there will be no room for them in a higher civilisation. Yes. There isn't a gun to your head to force you to work, however in order to receive aid from the society you must give back to the society. Also in certain circumstances your labor can be conscripted into certain industries that require it and also benefit the nation. Of course, you would be compensated for that labor like any other position.
For instance, a retail worker could be conscripted to a factor to manufacture arms in the case of a war (which happened in Germany). The worker would be compensated like any other worker of the factory and as soon as the need for the labor was met they would be free to do as they please with their labor.
This allows the nation to focus the productive ability of the people in times when such focus is necessary. In a time of famine is it more important to have farmers or painters?

Nice. I read some of this: and I have a question about fascism. It sounds really great, but is all riding on the fact that the government's sole purpose is to do for the people. How is that guaranteed? How do we know that the government will represent its people and do what is ultimately best for the greater good rather than just their own ruling party, especially considering these people are not democratically elected?
There is always the looming threat of a dissolution of government by decree of the people. The people of the national always have the final say in regards to whether or not they wish to remain in a fascist state. This is contrary to many dictatorships that do not permit the people the ability to dissolve their rule via a vote.
Contrary to popular belief, fascism is quite democratic. There are still representatives that are elected by the people, however the representatives that people choose from will be people themselves first, rather than politicians. There would be no party system, and thus there would be no political class. Elected officials would be elected based on their productive merit rather than their ability to schmooze the population with silky words.
