Under Budget, and Ahead of Schedule

Whats carrier

he's not even president yet and he's already saving jobs.

Large air conditioning manufacturer

>not even president yet
>corporations bending to his will
AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

air conditioner manufacturer, they were going to make ac units in mexico and sell them to americans, making mexico rich and ripping off the us.

Something that is more carry than other things

It's actually kind of creepy that he's sticking to his plans on this. Politicians usually get amnesia after getting elected.

So it's nothing? Where did they say they were staying?

I always thought if I was the PM of Greece I'd not sit in an office all day, I'd go and beg foreign companies to move to here instead of Bulgaria or wherever.
Pay no taxes I don't give a fuck just stay in the country.

We've lost like a hundred thousand businesses to Bulgaria in the past 2 years of left-wing rule because Bulgaria gives them 10% tax rate. And now Hungary promises 9%.

Hillary still needs to get SWAT teamed

Kek

I always thought if I was the PM of Greece I'd kill myself and burn my abomination of a country down

He's still Hitler tho, imho

>So it's nothing? Where did they say they were staying?

No way they will leave in this environment, after Trump talked about this in public.

This is the sort of open environment that Trump is creating, and it's great. This is the nationalism we need. - Businesses will work to the benefit of this country, or we will punish you. We're done with globalism.

He promised he would get on the phone with the boss of Carrier and he did it, the absolute madman.

I work in the industry and have some relation to what is going on. The plant in question is the CMX E plant. CMX A through D have been up and running for some years now. The issue with the Indy plant was it required capital investment for new tooling and the plant was unionized.

There is also the issue that now it makes sense to do all manufacturing in Mexico because of the close proximity to Carrier's suppliers. Regal Beloit (motors), Emerson (TXV's, compressors) are all right down the street from the CMX plants. That sort of supply chain consolidated is similar to why Apple has continued manufacturing in China (despite all the legal/political issues).

There isn't a shot in hell that Trump will reverse this decision short of barring importation of CMX's products. Even Tarrifs would do nothing. The amount of time it takes to set these plants up means that it would be years before Carrier could respond by adjusting it's supply chain. This move has been planned for years, and it won't be stopped in the final hour.

He said he shouldn't do it as president so right now he is doing it, MADMAN.

>Regal Beloit (motors), Emerson (TXV's, compressors) are all right down the street from the CMX plants

Are these all in Monterrey, Mexico? If not, where are they?

>Even Tarrifs would do nothing.

I am convinced the Left Wing does not understand tariffs the same way that the Right Wing does not understand tax cuts. Literally, putting a 30% markup on your product, by definition, undermines the entire benefit of outsourcing in the first place. If Carrier STILL decided to outsource their product under the penalty of tariffs, a domestic competitor would take power because their profit margins wouldn't be penalized under such a tariff.

And that isn't even taking consideration to other kinds of measures, such as "Outsource to Mexico and we'll cancel your government contracts."

Humans aren't stupid, their biased.

Carrier is in Monterrey Emerson and Regal are in Reynosa. It's like a 2hr drive between the two.

It's actually a huge pain in the ass to source components in a different country. Logistics is a huge problem and production issues can't be solved quickly. It makes production much more seamless if you can quickly respond to the issues that day as opposed to having travel or wait for the supplier.

That's not to say that Carrier is not immune to political pressure. They could come back and delay the inevitable and then quietly wind down the plant over many years (like they are doing at the Syracuse facility). But nothing is going to stop the inertia that is pushing manufacturing out of the states.

>Literally, putting a 30% markup on your product
Tariffs are imposed on incoming goods, not outgoing. Retard!

Ah. This is the actual first argument I've heard that puts a hole in the Tarrif plan. Normally I just hear "Muh Automation" which doesn't really hold practical argument. Well done.

So if Carrier makes more revenue doing business exporting to other countries rather than interior countries, Tariffs will in fact not be the stick necessary to keep the jobs within the nation. However, this does mean that domestic competitors will rise within the United States to fulfill such a demand. So there could be a US-version of air conditioning providing.

Good point though. I've been debating people for days on this topic and I haven't heard someone bring up this point.

Yea, I know Reynosa. Across from McAllen, Texas. Used to go to boystown there back in the day before the cartels didn't fuck it to shit. Former RGVfag here. Monterrey is right there.

It's basically the maquiladoras that are fucking us with jobs I guess. Thanks, NAFTA.

I wonder what Trump will be able to do. Why don't they produce the components here? What's stopping them? Are Emerson and Regal US companies?

Actually. No. What would happen is Carrier would keep the plant in the US to provide for air conditioning in the domestic market, while still keeping its Mexico plant for the foreign market.

So on second thought, the plants still stay, just to fulfill domestic demand. So the Tariffs still work, just not as effective in some industries.

It doesn't work that way. The supply chain is planned out years in advance. The ramp up in Mexico has been going on for the last decade, companies can't just snap their fingers and change process immediately. Carrier would just have to eat the cost until they can reopen their American plants. Which would mean a lot of engineers and white collared works (myself included) would probably lose our jobs in the aftermath. Severe tariffs would do significant damage in the short term.

And even with the tariffs it is still probably cheaper to manufacturer in Mexico.

Trump is a motherfucking god emperor. Even if he fails to convince Carrier to stay, he's gonna squeeze 35% taxes out of them. He's playing this like a general - "do as I ask, and we will make it work for you - do your own thing and I will make your life hell".

If they chose to keep their manufacture here in the states, they will reap a whirlwind of praise. Millions of dollars of free publicity, and a renewed pride in their product for being 'American made'.

Trump is offering them a golden get out of jail free card + an all expense paid vacation if they choose to follow his lead. He's amazing.

>Severe tariffs would do significant damage in the short term.

Fucking Hitler cartelled his businesses and manually redistributed profits between the companies as he saw fit. And if industralists protested too much, he'd personally fuck their lives up in anyway he could. Nobody gives a shit about how much pain you are going to suffer now that the Far Right is in charge. Eat the losses and do what the God-Emperor demands. That's how the Trump Party is going to work going forward.

Don't like it? There's a reason why people put up with the Left-Wing.

Literally the same post.

Normally I would just say "pay debt", but those debts are to the GU and by proxy Germany, so fuck em'.

god I really hope that if I ever meet trump in person he grabs my wife right by the pussy. he is so much more manly and confident than i am. i bet he could make her orgasms great again. Anyone else wanna be trumps little sissy bitch?

whats this socialist shit? why not let the free market decide? rly makes you think

You understand very little of economics.
Moving the place of the factors of production doesn't rip off one part or another.
The factory is moving because government regulations.

>"WELLLLLL TRUMP DIDNT ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING!!!!!"

It's expensive to manufacturer in the states. Labor cost are like 4x in the states vs Mexico. And HVAC is an industry with very low burden outside of labor costs. The capatlist want to make money so they will push to lower labor costs to the bone.

And Hitler's dead. Get over it. Your little Nazi fairy tale isn't gonna happen their buckaroo. This is the US not some third world banana republic where a dictator can go around doing whatever he wants. But from the looks of things people like you will take us there.

Yea, I used to be able to get a fuck for $15 in boystown. Probably can get an 8/10 for about $60 in Monterrey. I wonder if the Carrier execs had that in mind too.

Dude, I'm politically independent/left wing. But the writing is on the wall and I'm just the messenger of our brave new world.

A leader can die, but ideas never do. The best ideas win out in the end. That's why Trump was elected.

>This is the US not some third world banana republic where a dictator can go around doing whatever he wants

wow look at this fucking liberal cuck, doesnt even want trump to be a dictator...

>Moving the place of the factors of production doesn't rip off one part or another.
Ask your fishermen

Michael Carrier invented the copper coil air conditioner compressor. Basically invented the most common type of air conditioner in use today.

For the US in particular tariffs could be exceptionally effective at promoting domestic business due to the sheer size of the market.

Because hes the God Emperor

Exactly. A nation like Germany couldn't rely on Tariffs for job creation because their market is well too small for its productive capacity. Which is why they have the Euro to prevent currency devaluation for their exports.

Their are many paths to victory as long as you know where you are going,

"Free trade" has become dogma to so many that tariffs, something commonplace for every country in the past has become a dirty word.
