Well?
Are intelligent people prone to depression?
...
Only if you're weak willed.
yes
ignorance is bliss
There is a correlation between high intelligence and mental illness, sadly.
>135 iq, cynical, sarcastic, never smile, normie stuff never interested me
I would day so.
t. Mexican intellectual
It has to do with brain connectivity. This is why fags (literal homos) have such a high rate of suicide and a higher IQ, as well as more mental illness. Their brains are literally different in structure. Chemical therapy might work, but there's no real guarantee. They should have our pity, they really can't help that they're fucked up.
No
1. You are not intelligent.
2. There is no such thing as depression.
You are simply a faggot.
qed
these anons get it
Op is just.l. literally a fagto
Is anyone else dumb but smart enough to reliaze they are dumb?
Hes right you fuckable bunny.
>tfw to intelligent to feel happiness
if you're depressed past age 12 or 13 you are definitely not intelligent
literally just stop being depressed
yes, feels dumb man
The ones who question everything are.
this OP
Not really. Everybody has heard about """The only thing I know is that I know nothing""" said by some guy a long time ago. But in order to understand it you have to have a lot of knowledge on a lot of different things. People don't appreciate shit, because they are not aware of the quantity of information that is known about a given field/science/job/whatever
>Just stop having PTSD, silly
autists like yourself will hang when the day comes
It's ok OP, I will cure your depression for you
>t. 80 iq Tyrone
The most retarded thing I've read in a long time.
>tfw too intelligent for depression
that's because we have to deal with all the fucking idiots in this world
The stronger correlation is with low intelligence and depression. Look it up on pubmed. High intelligence people are generally happier because they end up in better careers like medicine.
dont be homeless, buy a house, live in it
I've seen this statistic, but it seems like all anecdotal evidence points the other way
Yes, ignorance is bliss.
Yes but it's not because you're intelligent. If you're depressed you aren't depressed because you know too much or you're "enlightened", your brain is just broken.
Implying depression is real. It's an excuse used by pussified whities to justify being a loser
This. The whole society is tailored for and by idiots.
No. It's brain chemistry. Keep trying substances of all kinds until you feel good. Do not fall for the psychology meme. Your problem is material. If you feel like shit then it is a chemical problem.
That is true, having a low IQ makes the world confusing, difficult and seemingly unfair, leading to depression.
This is not the question though. The question is :
>High IQ vs Average IQ
not
>High IQ vs Low IQ.
High IQ vs average IQ i got no clue i dont even care they probably the same who can say
Well yes. But if I take all your money + property, and destroy your career then your brain will react by producing chemicals that make you depressed. So while you are right, everything does reduce to chemical levels, te environment you are in can change the chemical levels in your brain.
Also the environment you're raised in. Shitty childhood? Fucked for life.
>the world confusing, difficult and seemingly unfair, leading to depression.
sheeeeeeeit I genuinely feel this way. Am I not as /highiq/ as I thought?
In my personal experience it's always best to attack the brain chemistry problem first.
Everything else is relative and ephemeral and you can waste your entire life chasing ghosts in a bad paradigm (Freudianism etc.) when you could just take some supplements and not feel like neurotic dogshit all the time.
here's an anecdote in line with the evidence then:
at my lowest, I bit the bullet and tried group therapy for depression a couple years ago when I was 28(low to mid 130 iq here). it was a bigger group of like 25 people maybe, everyone was like older 30's and up. the average age was probably like 45 or something tho and everyone looked totally fucked up, poor, and stupid. like you can tell just by how they dress, talk, and carry themselves. man and they were pretty fucked up, like it made me feel better just knowing that like, maybe I was feeling like life was pointless and hopeless but at least I wasn't in this weird kind of confused agony they were in. a lot of them talked about their shitty jobs or shitty kids or shitty family. definitely wasn't the demographic I was expecting, based on how online it's always a bunch of nerds who are generally above average in intelligence.
>you can waste your entire life chasing ghosts in a bad paradigm (Freudianism etc.)
Taking substances to numb the pain doesn't make the initial problem go away. It's better in the long run to fall for the freud meme
>For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
Yes. Some are but not all.
I feel like this is a different kind of depression though. Pretty sure OP was implying existential depression.
>Lower intelligence people aren't much less likely to be depressed because they don't lack any real self awareness, forethought and don't just tow the line like good goys living from day to day
That must be why niggers have the lowest suicide rate, right? With them being massively intelligent and they all have great careers. Please go back to plebbit or whichever echochamber you virtually "hang around" at, you're retardation isn't welcome here.
Yes, they are. It's difficult to hold conversations with your normal friends and family because their discussions are often banal and contain many fallacies or inaccuracies. It's either boring or frustrating. They can't stay on topic or follow a line of reasoning.
So this means smart people tend to be lonely unless they can find their own kind, and that is a rare thing.
what kind of shit happened in your early childhood that made you have this kind of belief?
I agreed with you and fucked up my life. The first time I took Ritalin and some other stuff it was like a revelation.
I misinterpreted my problems completely. There is the signal and there is the interpretation. I was anxious and irritable and inattentive all the time and I thought it was because I had a shitty chilhood. Then I took a pill and it felt like there was a block of wood put under the shaky table of my brain.
You don't even have to try prescription stuff. There are supplements like 5-HTP, L-Tyrosine, and Mucuna Pruriens that boost serotonin/dopamine, or vitamins or whatever.
SSRIs are trash but for the love of god try SOMEthing if you feel like shit. It is crippling your life and pills can solve it.
Almost every "crazy nigger criminal story" is really about an imbecile doing something that seemed logical, possible and brilliant in his head.
At first I think yes...
But then you realize the emotion of feeling sad is merely just a by-product of chemical and/or hormonal imbalances etc.
Idk, I think it's probably all the same kind of thing. intelligent people are able to parse through it more deeply and analyses the causes and effects and implications more than less intelligent people, but in the end it's this feeling of emptiness and loneliness that is felt in a very real way. I think you don't have to be intelligent to intuitively understand there's nothing but an indifferent void underneath all your conscious senses.
like some of these people in the group would kinda clumsily grasp at straws about why they felt so shitty, but in the end it was always like, "fuck I'm so lonely, what's the point" I think you can make that statement as complicated or as simple as you want but the core value doesn't change
>SSRIs are trash
Eh, not always, but I've seen them work best for people who are otherwise generally healthy (physically and weight wise). They seem to lose their efficacy if you're body-sick or overweight.
yep
>being intelligent
>always questioning yourself
>low energy
SSRIs are a leading cause of feminism and beta-males
I think it's more a case that bored minds are more apt to be depressed, or if you have unnaturally high anxiety.
>"fuck I'm so lonely, what's the point"
This is true. Even then, aren't more intelligent people more prone to isolation?
Ha! You have never felt love than user, and that means you belong here. Kissless virgins will never know the depression of love lost.
I agree 100%. I was simply saying environment can have an effect on brain chemistry. But yes it makes absolute perfect sense to tackle the chemical levels at the root.
Psychologies ultimate goal is to alter brain chemical levels through speech, so why not bypass that expensive bullshit and buy the pill. Honestly I don't get it.
My brother had 10 years of behavioral therapy and it did NOTHING. Quite literally had no effect. After one awful period with my brother i decided to take it into my own hands. I researched medical papers on google for his problems and within 1 week had ordered a bottle of pills from amazon that reduced his symptoms 90%.
10 years of therapy and anguish, and all I had to do was fucking google it and buy some pills from amazon.
If youre interested the pills are called n-acetylcysteine. The help drug resistant people (serotonin based drugs) with depression, OCD, bdd and any anxiety disorders.
>tfw when thoth must have been a suffering incarnate.
>t. brainlet
Well my IQ is 147 so I'll tell you. Imagine living in a society full of retards made by them for them. They think everything you say is dumb bc they can't comprehend it. Yeah if you deal with too many average fags you're going to get depressed, especially if you care about them and watch them not listen you on how they could easily improve their lives when they're going through bad times
>especially if you care about them
That's a good point that doesn't come up enough here. Everyone always acts like we're lonely worthless fucks with no connections to anyone but that's not really the case.
well that's what I assumed for a long time but there's something really fucked up that happens when you get older. I'm 30 now so I'm beginning to understand all this shit older people in their 40's and up would say when I was younger about 'I just stopped giving a shit about what other people think'. it's a lot more complex than that tho, it's not so simple I think. I used to be highly emotional and "empathetic" but it's slowly degraded over time and I understand at this point it will continue degrading as I age. I already feel this weird division between myself and others that's unlike anything else I've experienced in my life and I know from how it all feels it has to do with my aging mind.
anyway my point is, it seems to me that Everybody is prone to isolation. it's truly just a horrifying part of aging. so the stats about less intelligent people being more depressed, as well as older people being more depressed, lines up well with my experiences as I get older.
perhaps higher intelligence isolates you more when you're younger tho, perhaps that's where the statistics don't seem to line up with experience. a lot of the stats come from the older people cos most depressed people are 45 and up. this is a good indicator tho, it seems to indicate that intelligence is a burden when you're younger but it can save you when you're older
>Imagine living in a society full of retards made by them for them
you're dumb and useless
