Off the top of my head, from florida

University of tampa (private college): Most majors had a baccalaureate requirement, which is basically a number of classes outside of your major, from a number of areas, including sciences, social courses, etc. Even say, an engineering major would be expected to have a biology+chemistry course, as well as some kind of humanities course in there somewhere.

University of South Florida (Public college): USF has something called the FKL requirement which also includes humanities requirements, as well as some writing component as well. I dont remember everything about it, but I think you needed a minimum of 12 hours of humanities regardless of major.

Hillsborough Community College (Public, shitty, etc): Most degrees also have some sort of humanities requirement.

Basically no matter where you go, or what your major is, at least in florida, there's some requirements outside of your major. You'll still do 80ish credit hours at least within major, but the other 40 involve humanities, other sciences, and whatever other bullshit you can find that meets the elective requirements.

I have to take one class in multicultural studies in order to get my associates degree. Almost known of it is useful and the books are expensive.

I had sociology on my veterinary course, the bitch had a PhD on Sociology that she got on Germany, her first class was about how Marx was such a good person and we should run and get some political party participation.
