Nah, from what i understand the trip was to consult the local scientists, where he was proven to be retard and his calculations for work he did for US, and also used in Litvinenco case were false.
Realizing that he tried to make authorities aware of it, but they just said "lol ok, everything is fine, you did good job, now rest and move on."
