Are games like Banished and other city building games blue-pilled?

Are games like Banished and other city building games blue-pilled?

All that central planning and common stock of resources.

Why not have a city building game with free-market?

I love games like this. I have every single one. Tropico is probably the best

me too, Tropico 4 was my favorite.
I just couldn't get into Tropico 5.

Did you like T5?

City planning is a nigger major so no.

Honestly, I call this game Amish Settlement Simulator on my steam.

Do you like Stronghold? It's a bit hold, don't know if you know it.

*old

>Do you like a game that you can build HUGE walls

Yes
Yes I do

>free market
Cities Skylines

Nope. Lol. 4 was great. Muh ziggurats. There are free market games like capitalism ii. There is one called aven colony i think. And resource traders im foregetting names of. I like the central planners. The micron managers to be honest. Im a social democrat though so i stridently believe the economy is a big machine. Also i tend to believe that too much individualism is bad. I'm also Christian though. In vidya if you have too many NPCs not told what to do specifically the game breaks. There is a market or niche for what you want though

the game that taught me that having an increasingly old population that threaten to doom society is something that passes, and that importing immigrants is not necessary to fix the problem. the age group fluctuates

>Banished
>Blue pilled
immigrants come in and bring disease with them and eat all of the food causing famine.

Stronghold is one of my favourites besides Cossacks 1 + 2.

Superb games.

Also Command and Conquer and Age of Empires II was awesome.

Why does every new game suck?

No i dont like military games
That looks good. Is good game. Fucking hard. There's another similar one whose name im also forgetting

I played Stronghold 2 so much that I found out exactly how many of each building needed to be built with full population in the most efficient way possible.

Don't make weapon smiths, you are much better off trading bulk raw iron for all your weapons.

Not really citybuilder but the Patrician series are the ultimate jew simulator.

I just thought that it is very common among right wingers that they played society simulators in ther youth - what do you think about this hypothesis?

OP, it's hard to articulate just how fucking retarded you are for even pondering this question.

The point of a game like Banished is to start a village from scratch and see how far you can take it while battling the RNG trying to murder your settlement.

It's not a political statement about governments, as the game doesn't have any sort of government mechanics built into it. It's purely a resource and risk management game that never ends so long as your settlement isn't wiped out from natural disaster or running out of resources.

The idea that this game should have a free market option despite that it's a single player experience, is completely asinine. You have nobody else to participate in this free market. There are other city builder games designed specifically for multiplayer, and free markets are actively encouraged for success in those games, along with traditional government elements like forging alliances and agreements with other players.

You stupid fuck.

how do you get immigrants?

Fuck my life everyone just dies of inbreeding nonstop.

I only see one trading post there when you have space for what it seems like atleast five in that area, and the one you have is inefficiently placed. Scrub. You'll never get 2000+ pop unless you step up your game bruh.

Plus, it's redpilled because nothing can ruin your town like immigrants can. Sustainable growth is the only way to go.

>having any market model in that game
is that pic even C:S? it looks like cities xl

Children of the Nile. Wheat is currency, all the inhabitants have their own private reserve and use it to trade on their own. Good lick getting it to run though

Stronghold is only 50% a military game.

Do you like the Anno or Settlers series?

Only if you build roads

You build the boarding house and they flock to your new village eventually starving the starting population and their children and bringing a plague that will thin out the herd so there's enough food until you realize that all of your farmers and fishermen just died.

This. Just sell Iron and Stone en masse and you can buy everything.

I liked the 2d variants better thoug, the graphics of the 3d sucked big time and did not feel the same

Anno 2070 has competing, non-competing, and always-hostile factors in the simplest of demand=price setting.

It rewards autismal optimization of square by square output. It's a game played on of round, mountainous islands.

only lolbertarians can reach this level of autism
i almost admire it desu

>central planning
>result: small wooden village
>Free Market
>thriving massive metropolise
Seems about right to me

Yep. Settlers' build mode is fucking stupid though. Build a farm. Farm needs 5 houses. Build a bakery. Bakery needs 5 ovens. There's another game like this but im a stoner and forget the names of these 50 games. Best. Fucking. Games. Ever. Tomb Raider is fun too but I digress. Ill check out stronghold i guess

Did you play the lates Anno? And if so, was it good?

All you need is town hall but market and boarding house increases the chance. But honestly, nomads are only good between 50-200 pop and then they're just destructive. Build a school at ~50 pop and then just grow pop size organically.

Games that have you balance workers usually fail. Tropico did this VERY well. You can instantly control your unemployed and homeless. Resources i can balance like a baws but workers are fucked.

Children of the Nile runs fine on any computer. It's pretty good. SC4 is still the ultimate game

You need to check it out man, you will love it.

Make sure to buy Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader

its not free market though. all the mechanics are literally a command economy

Decided to ignore that shit heap right from the get-go.

Can confirm and endorse
Get traffic control mods though

Whenever I try to look at these games I realise I can't be fucked with them.

what kind of city building free market game is even possible? a free market would mean thousands of individual entities all working towards their self interest and there would literally be nothing for you to do as the player

>build a great city
>full stores and stockpiles
>produce every type of crop, breed every type of livestock
>everything's going great
>immigrants arrive
>immigrants arrive
>immigrants arrive
>immigrants arrive
>immigrants arrive
>famine
>you lose

Every game of Banished.

>not realizing that I just wanted to talk about city-building games with Sup Forums

How is cities skylines just trading and popping up on its own? It doesnt. Just two different graphical models. There are trade mechanics in all games. Capitalism is not a fix all. It's actually quite zionist and inefficient. Sure. We have a game of "rights" and illusions in capitalism but are they Biblical? No

The worst thing to happen in Banished is if you run out of tools before you can produce them at all/in big enough quantity.

Then you are utterly fucked :-(

>sc4 is still the ultimate
in most categories for a city builder, this is true. However i would describe sc4 as the perfect autistic organic city building game.
If you want a planned, thematic city, sc4 will make you tear your hair out

>back-pedaling this hard

Yeah I thought so.

1602 and 1404 were my favourites

It emulates a demand based economy with programmed wildcards for spice. It's a video game depiction of a free market, you sad, small, little jungle monkey.

...

Ok. Also um caesar and pharaoh and imperium romanum and some other roman game were good. Cant remember the fucking name again

And the irony is it was developed by a mass of SJWs

The drive to build a better world

SC4 you can make anything you want, even small rural communities and the thing is, cities and towns actually look like real cities and towns

The entire Breakaway games Autism Simulator series was great.
The (good) games were
Caesar->Pharaoh->Zeus->Rise of the Middle Kingdom.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah its hard to recover from, especially if you're not running a trading based economy. Firewood is the only way to go desu once you get up to 5-600 pop imo. Once you have a stable income of food through trading (auto trade is quite necessary) all you really need to do is city planning. Many times I have a city designed for 2000 pop laid down and on hold and just slowly unpausing the construction as pop increases and new districts need to be built.

Cities: skylines is piss easy. Sim City 4 is where it's at for a challenge to create a metropolis.

I actually got bored of winning in Skylines.

Anno 1404 is GOAT.
Futuristic shit is ALWAYS garbage, no matter what game genre.

Which explains why it sucks shit

>1404
>that supply chain management
>Those production grids

High Level play was so autistic but fuck it was amazing

Kurwa pjederast 2070 was a worthy successor.

No no you're quite right. These games give me boners. Keep talking about them. I am injecting two marijuanas

Cities Skylines sale on steam. Worth it? Do I get the dlc too?

1503>all others simply due to hunting whales and riots

Does this mean Banished is redpilled anti immigrants

>buying a game made by SJW fags

Oh. My. Goodness. People made walkthroughs of market grid layouts? This stresses me out. I just plop where ever. Im good with roads but if that game needs this grid ill have fires in no time. Nothing is more aggravating than "resource cannot get to market". Oh fuck off I have hospitals to build and lazy bums to boss around

This.

Do you like the Cossacks line?

yeah but leftwingers have the same drive its just like we drew more realistic conclucions based on facts.

Like when the enemy expands to our lands he must be killed. We can do this in games and woudl do it in reality. What do leftwingers in such games? Dont they see the parallels to reality?

I think my max was around 400 people. And I didnt really figure out how to get new and different livestock and seeds.

I remember Zeus, I was like 12 when I played that

>buy vicky 2
>pick your favourite meme nation
>put a laissez-faire party in power
>you now have free market dictating the infrastructure of your country
>scrap that shit LOL
>put the reactionaries in power, get state capitalism
>take all the money you can in loans
>buy all the LE EPIC liquor factories you can
>DOMINATE THE WORLD WITH YOUR LIQUOR REVENUE
>buy some cement factories to wash all the liqour down
>beat the game

It's a good buy for the price. I got After Dark too, but I passed on the winter dlc because it's poorly implemented.

>A FUCKING LEAF

you cant make curved roads, and you cant make thematic cities without pulling your hair out like i said.

>Step 1
Google for the optimal residential area builds
>Step 2
Begin frothing at the mouth because your built res smack dab in the middle of the plains and there's not enough room for optimal industry/stockpiles
>Step 3
Decide to wing it and build indu wherever necessary
>Step 4
???
>Step 5
Invaded, fire, disease, wrath of the gods, can't find the roadblock you accidentally placed in the middle of all this mess.

Didnt try it bro, havent touched vidya in a couple of months due to work.

You make friends with them and realise how they can fuck your hours given for progress so you have all your buildings destroyed but your tiny cheap army focusses on killing them anyways. They advance. You start over. You tie. You barely win. Military games suck for this aspect though. I dont want to commit to scouts and they die and i uncover one resource under the fog. Ooooo

Saved. Will play again soon.

Society/Building games are the only games I can get hard on currently

No, it just means every game is complete waste of time, because achieving everything there is to do is so quick and easy and losing (seeing it all collapse) is unavoidable.

It's probably some Buddhist metaphor.

Curved roads are so goddamn overrated, and you can make any city you want in SC4

>party that has laissex-faire policy runs country into ground
>they got voted in again
Democracy was a mistake

El Presidente frowns upon your faggotry

the tropican secret police will be at your residence shortly

anno1404.wikia.com/wiki/Building_layout_strategies

My brain hurts
What is the actual name of this game? Are there lefty parties? Is it a 2D map piece of shit?

>it emulates a demand based economy
you know how it "simulates" trading is the part that determines whether its a free market simulator or not.
Its not, all trading is controlled by you.

Does the game have worthless and traitorous immigrants? Leeches and criminals that ruin everything?

yes

Thanks

Well this depends on the game of course, if it is more automated it can be frustrating.

Modded Napleon/Empire Total war campaign is pretty cool as well.

I understandt, I need to literally force myself to play vidya and often times I fail.

Its old 2d game shit, runs only on win 7 and lower.

But I played it at age 10 so its nostalgia for me and the games are really good

Through trading. You have one of like a dozen different traders coming to your trading posts, some of which will sell seeds or new livestock. The best way to get a big pop is to run a firewood economy. Build forester lodges all around your town, and two woodcutters per market. The best map seed for this is Large Valleys, as flat as possible, with a river that has space for many TPs. My last run I had a native food production of maybe 12000 per year from my cattle and sheep, and several hundred thousand food units from trading. (Also, if you're growing anything, grow beans.)

>curved roads are overrated
expected that from a burger
can you make thematic estates? nope

>What is the actual name of this game? Are there lefty parties? Is it a 2D map piece of shit?

Victoria 2.
Yes, fucking socialists hijacking my upper house.
Yes, but I heard 2D>3D.

>free market
>building anything
R O A D S
O
A
D
S

Is that Skylines? If so, which mods?

Banished is red pilled as fuck, let in immigrants and all of a sudden everybody has a disease and your economy is crumbling because yyou cant maintain healthcare and your factories and mines stop producing because everybody is too sick to work.

Back when Caesar II was new, I found it incredibly hard to build stable cities that turned a profit. After some experimentation, I developed a small/medium city layout that never deteriorated its housing and provided decent tax revenue, which I then copypasted for every single campaign mission. Good times. Probably made me autistic.

Port Royal and Patrician are more market-oriented games and pretty good.

>mfw be me playing Tropico 4
>see rebels appear
>check almanac to see who is most unsatisfied to ensure no more rebels
>They lowest happiness are immigrants

Every. Fucking. Time.

its on a different scale to those you mentioned but have you tried stellaris??? excellent game but one hell of atime sync....im currently on hiatus from it until more dlc is released. also im loving gta online just going around picking on minorities.

Wew lad

>Third year Urban Planning and Geography major
>Whenever I come back from my classes, I play Banished, Cities Skylines and Tropico for fun.

AMA

Ok. But i'd like to see the hatching of the rooves of houses. Oh well. A border map it is
>muh zoom and camera control
Playing with toy soldiers is fun too I guess

Are you ok?

>Good times. Probably made me autistic.
No, just German.
