You're disrupting your natural hormone system when injecting steroids, and the hormones are like keystones for the body. The body is a system, you cant just introduce some disruption and expect everything to go well. There are several different entry level documentaries about bodybuilding and steroid use.

Off the top of my head I'd recommend Pumping Iron, because it is about Arnold and is very entertaining. Second I would recommend Bigger, Stronger, Faster which is about the epidemic of steroid use in professional sports in the USA. Both provide different perspectives on what you termed the fitness industrial complex.

There are several documentaries on Youtube about steroids as well. In one of them a doctor went on record saying that in a medically controlled environment, with proper testing, injection and monitoring, steroid use would be harmless to the user. Keep in mind most people who inject steroids don't really know where they are coming from, or what is in them, as they order them from dealers online, or get them from their local gym rat.

As for the industrial complex, an entire industry has now developed around bodybuilding, lifting, and gym culture. It is for men what makeup is for women, in some ways. It requires much more effort, which I recognize, but for some it is about vanity. Its a way to market and sell products to guys a lot of the time, which actually can be counterproductive. An example being that a lot of protein powders are loaded with soy.

Bodybuilding industry is one giant orgy of backstabbing money grubbers. The industry is founded on lies and exaggerations.

As far as cycling goes, you'd be fine as long as you don't fuck with slin, GH and IGF-LR3 too much. Keep it gear only, monitor your vitals and cycle off when need be (blasting and cruising can work for some).

Realistically, getting a good body isn't too hard provided you have the genetics for it, esp with gear use, you just have to be careful of the sides like acne, balding and internal organ issues.

Avoid Pro-Hormones and anything that isn't intra-muscular injections. Durateston and Winstrol are a good first cycle.

Lots of guys I've known have been on something like 200-500mg of test per week for 10-20 years+ and are healthy as fuck, but they get prescription shit and get their blood work done regularly and also don't fuck up on their eating and partying.

When they say "Don't start until you hit your natural potential", they mean it. If you don't already look like a bad ass motherfucker, or, if you don't already have a big powerlifting total or aren't a high-ranking strength athlete in some other arena, you're just being dumb.

Juice is NO replacement for smart training, dietary discipline, and the time needed to get to a good spot first. I did one cycle WAY too early in my lifting about 20 years ago, stayed on for a year, and sadly, I look WAY better and am shitloads stronger now after being clean for 2 decades. I wasted a few grand and screwed with my dick working right for way too long (stopped the post-cycle shit way too early, had some dysfunction for about 6 months afterward due to being a dumbass), it was interesting to see how fast the gains came on it, but was it worth it? Nah.

If you haven't got at least a decade of training under your belt if you're not competing in anything, you're going too soon. If you aren't already a high-level competitor in your lifting sport, it's too soon. Get yourself somewhere good before you give in to the temptation, because once you go on, you get afraid to come off, it's a psychological thing that's tough for many to break as nobody wants to lose 10,15,20 lbs. after you've gained it, but that's how it goes.

Precisely why it's better to go natural for as long as possible, and when you've tried numerous things that don't work and have stalled for a year or so, THEN it's time to go on.
