The simple answer was stated by Jesus Christ himself, when he said that his sheep will know him and they will hear his voice. The Jews aren't his sheep, so they couldn't and will never hear his voice. Their mongrel, Edomite blood is forever at enmity with the God of Israel.
You have to understand who Israel of the bible actually is. Adam = to show blood in the face (i.e. blush, see Strong's Concordance). Jesus specifically stated he only came for the lost sheep of the house of Israel, who had been taken into captivity 700 years prior, were prophesied to lose their identity, and language, but were to eventually be called "sons of the living god". There are other blessings given to Israel that are only fulfilled by the Western nations. Look at the curses for not following God, given in Deuteronomy.

Wrong. What you can't reconcile the old testament with is Talmudic law that was being enforced by the Jews when Jesus came. Contrary to what cycled churches teach, in the Gospels Jesus basically told everyone the Jews were full of shit, not to be trusted, and we're not actual descendents of Abraham. He also explicitly stated that the old testament law was still in place and he did not come for the heathens. Paul, an ethnic Jew who claimed Jesus appeared to him with no available witnesses, quickly moved in and began teaching the opposite of what Jesus taught and disobeying the apostles that had actually known him. By the end of acts, they got so mad at him for preaching to non-whites that they tried to kill him, but he demanded protection from the Roman authorities and skipped town to Italy to teach his heresies there.

There actually was no doubt by the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. Besides the miracles performed IN FRONT OF THE JEWS AND PHARISEES there was his geneology. According to the Torah, the Messiah was to descend from David from the Root of Jesse. Jesus fulfilled this perfect both legally from Joseph and blood from Mary. He was also born on schedule and became the Messiah at the right time. According to Daniel, the Messiah was scheduled to appear in their time around the beginning of the century during the Reign of Tiberius Ceaser.(Luke 3:1)
