There's no demos to support a united Europe though. That's like saying 'if only asia worked together'. It's a dozen countries with a hundred languages and a thousand competing cultural narratives.
Maybe in 50 years when all the young people of today see nothing special about hopping over to Spain for a nice afternoon sandwich, there can be a basis for a unified europe. But right now only Russia and America have a unified identity strong enough to actually compete on the world stage.
There was no fast road to victory for the Germans. And the further they advanced, the harder the operation became to maintain.
