And is there not value in that? The passing moments of sensation delivered to us by impressionists give us context to ideals that others preserve. If we do not find the human understanding of a society then we cannot hope to understand fully the ideologies that society has produced.
One may understand an ideology intellectually but they cannot bring that ideology to life without understanding the lives that produced it.
