Like everything, it's a fucking meme.
goymens are faggots
we are so embarrassed to have such a shit for a neighbor
Stoicism is redpilled. Sup Forums is not, so they won't like it.
Weak people.
Is hard to be a stoic in a hedonist world.
The cup is always broken Fuck off newfag
It's useful unlike most of philosophy which is just esoteric bullshit
Meme philosophy, it's almost as retarded as nihilism.
Can't Stoicism and Hedonism go hand in hand?
>The cup is always broken
The glass is already broken.
stoicism is just another stupid term autistic kids that can't make friends made up to convince themselves they're not autistic loner losers.
If you're an autismal weeb and don't have any self discipline, no amount of philosophy is going to help you. If you really want to better yourself, then it's not a bad philosophy to live by. You have to want to do it of your own merit, don't look for autismal Sup Forums users to tell you it's the right thing to do. Stop being a pussy and make up your own mind.
>emotional beings
>expected not to act on emotions
It's for a select few.
Stoicism argues that we are not emotional beings by nature. It argues that emotional impulses are a result of our stupidity and ignorance.
Picked up stoic virtue about 2 years ago, haven't looked back. It takes practice and you have to actually apply yourself to make it work initially. Life is so much better and peaceful this way; I'm not perfect about it but nobody is after all.
>yfw you just lost another world war
Which in turn implies that if you remove our knowledge, we will be nothing but simple emotional beings, driven by our impulses. All of our decisions are made based on feelings. Even if you perceive something to be logical, it is still sending positive signals to your reward centre.
It takes a great deal of wisdom and self reflection to understand your own emotions, to not let them dictate your actions. So your statement remains true, just not the part where humans are not emotional creatures by nature.
Always thought it argued to ignore emotions. I've never heard a stoic saying we're unemotional beings by nature, that's counter factual.
"Bro do you even imagine disaster striking you over and over again?"
t. Epictetus
It's good in moderation.
And like all memes it can be useful but not if you lose yourself completely in the meme and forget the real world which will always be more complex than can be captured in words.
Stoicism were a heavy influence in Christianity and the times of greatest advancement were when the stoic aspects were emphasized.
