I treat large laptops like an all-in-one that you can pack into a backpack instead of a typical laptop.
Some people go to LAN parties frequently so there's that too.
Space reasons mostly. If you're in a tiny dorm room or apartment you don't want to take up what little room you have with a big setup. Or just a degenerate addict who can't go without playing some autism pacifier for a day.
The only circumstance I can see it being okay is if you're a rich as fuck "gamer" or something like that.
If you are constantly travelling but also play video games, then I can see why it's appealing.
Some of the gaming laptops are fucking great now, they're just loud and get hot.
Other than that, it's just casuals who are rich who buy them.
Put it this way, If I ever came into a serious amount of money (millions), I'd probably buy one just for the sake of using it on my private jet. But I don't really play video games anyway, and can't imagine how it would be appealing if I had the cash to do whatever I wanted anyway.
I'd rather spend the 3k on something else.
