I am currently waiting a call back for a part time position at a grocery store.

Since millennials are suck lying lazy losers, the hiring process has turned into some test to join the Secret Ops.

I knew this one kid, 20, lazy as fuck. Lied about everything too. Was never wrong about anything. Would get a job, be fired a day or two later, his mommy gives him more money while he waits for neetbux

Fuck millennials.

Stupid lazy trash generation

But you're a millennial.

Ya sucks to be lumped in with a generation of literal retards.

Gen Z is no better.

Thanks for making the hiring process retarded cause you're all retarded liars who are too lazy to do anything

Applied for part-time cause that's all they're offering.
No one hires full time in canada except the crackhead jobs like roofer and snowplow guy

Thanks Baby Boomers. Way to plan for the future.
You can all retire off part time laborers taxes, ya fucking retards

>applied for a customer service job in a game store (UK, btw)
>long-ass online application

>IRL interview
>get a phone call after that from them, thinking they are going to offer me the job
>"hi user, we'd like to invite you to come down to the store for a talent show interview. So, if you have a talent or can make us laugh, come on down, and impress us! The best get the job."
>hang up, don't go.
>go to the store a few weeks later, none of the applicants got through, but the managers blue-hair problem glasses girlfriend got hired instead.

I'm an English professor now. I had a skype interview for that, they looked at my experience, and asked me if I could start in a month's time.

>be me, 25yo millennial
>get job in my field after applying online and going through a couple interviews
>one year later, get called from a competitor offering nearly double my salary for a higher position with them
>take job, still happy 6 months later
I don't know what's so hard about it.

It's not even like this is only for higher-end salaried positions. I worked minimum wage in a restaurant in college, and I got that job by literally walking in with a resume and asking if they had any openings. Got hired the next day.

>working for a large corporation

>No one hires full time in canada except the crackhead jobs like roofer and snowplow guy
oh you mean all the real jobs where you have to work hard

fantastic blog post, where can I read more?

If you're unwilling to work as a roofer or 'snowplow guy' you deserve exactly nothing in life.

Part time at a grocery store will be close enough.

>Respectable labour positions like roofing are not good enough for you
>"Thanks, millenials!"

Please commit suicide.

PS. If you enter a career path where the average person isn't a fucking retard, then the firms won't treat you like one. It's your fault you have no qualifications and no marketable skills.

>Off by one

>Stupid lazy trash generation
>Part time position at a grocery store

What the fuck is your deal? Pack up all your shit and move to Fort McMurray or North Dakota and work in the oil fields. It's hard work but you'll find it rewarding.

After graduate school I had a difficult time finding a job and I went to North Dakota. My education didn't mean shit but I put in long hours and worked my ass off. I made about $75,000 in my first year.

There's shit out there if you just move your fucking ass.

>nobody hires except for roofers and snowplow guy
Go ahead and chase that shitty office job where you work with Jews all day and contribute noting to society.

>Since millennials are suck lying lazy losers, the hiring process has turned into some test to join the Secret Ops.
Is this really why the hiring process has become such a clusterfuck? I doubt it.

I personally think it has more to do with a surplus of labor, legal reasons, laws and regulations, diversity quotas, and the hiring process being taken over by women, the "ladies at HR."

Hopefully Trump will simplify the laws. I've actually got a job at the local movie theater today.

>doing all that for a fucking grocery store job
what fucking town are you in

How the fuck?
You know those fucking personality things are a result of an overabundance of labor, right?
I've filled out tons of em too.
You're better off physically going to places and ask "Are you hiring" or "Are you looking for people?"
If they dont say anything and just give you an application ask politely again if they're actually looking to hire people.
>apply at grocery store
>go in for interview
>"Do you have a bad temper? No? Are you a criminal? No? You're hired, we really need someone ASAP for the busy holiday season"

>It's your fault you have no qualifications and no marketable skills.

Whole lot of truth here.

>Millenial

>Got laid off once in career during the 2008 economic downturn
>New job with same pay within 2 weeks
>Changed jobs a few times to advance career
>Now, 32 years old, making near 6 figures

I don't understand other millenials who talk about how they can't get ahead in the world and blame baby boomers. Never had an issue in my 13 years working in IT. Have multiple friends around my age as well who work in a variety of fields, and all are successful in their careers and making good money.

The bullshit is because of an overabundance of labor. But Trump wants to turn that around and create a shortage of labor by deporting Mexicans, preventing H1B visas, and cutting red tape.

I do actually think the bullshit is going to go away once companies realize that labor is going to become harder to come by because of Trump. I do see a labor shortage in the US in many fields if Trump keeps his promises.

I'm guilty of making the problem worse.

>need job
>see detailer position on craigslist
>go in first thing in the morning
>get the job
>stop showing up at the end of the second week with no notice

>another time
>apply for packaging factory position through e-mail
>get offered the job
>don't bother replying back to the e-mail

I've had about 10 different jobs. 10 months has been the longest run. And I've only given my 2 weeks notice twice, and the second time I stopped showing up after the first week.

>tfw millennial

>not being self employed

Yea well the job situation right now isnt the same as 16 years ago you fucking dumbass, just try finding an entry level job now that isnt service industry cuckery

What the fuck is your problem?

heheh nothing personal mr shekelberg

I'm not offended, I don't really care, I just want to know why you get jobs and quit them so fast?

>HR doesn't submit my resume to boss, only submits resumes with muslim names on them

Quit bitching about trying to get a job, wait until they try to give it away.

Here are some reasons:
>asked me to cleanup the tampon bin
>gave me a pep-talk saying i'd become a bodyman in no time
>didn't pay me for travel time between shop and work site
>felt like sleeping in
>didn't feel like taking the bus

Could be different in Canada, but IT is booming in the eastern part of the US, even with entry level jobs. Hell, even entry level jobs with ISP support companies are in demand because of the turn over there. Sure the job sucks, but it can help you start your career, much like it started mine.

I don't know Canada the same as I know the US landscape, but I've actually been contact about telecommute jobs in Canada, but working from home/telecommuting isn't too appealing to me, and the tax laws are really damn weird doing that.

So that begs the question on my part, is their a skill gap shortage in Canada if they are openly soliciting American citizens? Not being a dick, just legitimately asking.

Fuck all the nonsense people have told you about getting jobs. Research the industry/position/experience of the position and job you want. Lie your ass off and tell them what they want to hear. Get that position you want and if you foul up along the way use the "my old job did it this way" line.

I'm salaried, health, 401k, and making 52000. After years of working minimum wage and unpaid internships this is like an oasis in the desert.

What is it?

Position is called a "systems engineer" for flight simulators. There is nothing engineering related about this job. I set up and run flight sims for military or commercial pilots to train on. Basically it's myself and 4 other guys/girls who fly from place to place running these things. Last month I went to Dubai for Emirates and set up some of their A380 sims. It's fun as hell and not any harder than troubleshooting a computer.

How did the competitor get your phone #?

How'd you go about getting this (skills etc)?

Wat

i had to draw a picture that represented who i am during more than one application for a job. i can see that if you are a psychologist and you ask someone to draw themselves you can analyse it and come up with a theory about them, but is it really necessary to find a waiter?

i've hired people based on a conversation because actually chatting to someone can tell you about them. this "dance for us" nonsense is the result of women in HR, trying to push EQ over IQ.

A forestry , wildlife management or fire prevention And safety degree from a state college or get hired by local federal forestry office or similiar as a technician aka laborer grunt . After so many years , you can apply for park ranger

Similarly but largely this.
I was a volunteer firefighter for about 2 years and had some search and rescue experience.

Probably the best ""dead end"" job, you can progress into managerial stuff if you want, but most wouldn't want to because it means being stuck in an office and they'd rather be outside

>be me

>end it once I get to college

If you can't find a job, make one. Lawnmowing is tough work, and the only reason I was hired is because I charged $20 an hour, which was cheaper then the competition. Currently, I do stocks and run a podcast. Nothing major, but side income while I focus on school.

>tfw actor
Just fuck my shit up senpai

How do I stocks?

I've got plenty of money but I'm just clueless about beginning, especially what info I should be looking into and how to find it, and how to actually purchase them (the best method)

For me, I spoke tagged along to my father's financial advisor. If you aren't so lucky, here's what I would recommend:

If you're totally clueless, get a financial advisor. They know more about stocks than you or me, and they'll help you.

If you know something or are feeling lucky, think of something that might prosper in a few years. Gold, a specific technology, medicine, etc. Find a company that specializes in what you're seeking.
(My Jew friend found a company that was trying to get a patent approved. He bought stocks, and once the patent was approved, he sold them all and made $$$)
Invest directly into that company. This sounds complex, but there are a few ways to go about it. You could go to your financial advisor, or use a service to go to Wall Street and invest it for you. They typically charge $20 per transaction. (Worth it)

Before you do anything though, make sure you know how the stock market works. That's #1.
I'm just a dumb kid though. I'd highly recommend speaking to your financial advisor first.

Thanks for wasting 160K in college, Gen Y assholes.

We're full. Go home.

So stocks is pretty much gambling?

Wouldn't sports betting be more efficient cause most regular people have more knowledge on teams n shiet and you wouldn't have to higher a bunch of advisors and read shit tons of books?

Full of failures who have time to stand in front of Trump Tower burning American flags. What a fucking joke.

People (women) working in HR are so bored with their job and life that they fuck around most of the time and read so magazines with "10 ways you know he LOVES you" and decided to apply this to applicants

This is the only part of their life they have some power in so instead of looking at what you can or can't do, they look at you as another possibly relationship and you have to have a click with these females in order to get a job.

These people are annoying, I go out of my way to avoid them and send in my resumes to companies and also end up in those fucking temp offices doing the sorting.

Thank god I have a job now and I didn't go through a temp agency but simply walked in a building, where they had a position open, and handed in my files and asked for an interview

These people are delusional, they post shit like "the most creative resume we've ever seen" on their website when they damn well know that if they got one of those in their mail and it wasn't black on white they'd skip right through it.

fuck these people, you are supposed to reply to an application with a vague job discription, on a location you do not know except for in very broad stripes and the people that are supposed to handle the application know fuck all about the company they are hiring for.

You want to make the US like Under The Dome?

Also, what stock markets don't require a lot of specialist knowledge to gain a grasp on, knowledge I can just teach myself rather than having to work in a company in that industry for years

ie the problem with things like technological developments is I have fuck all clue about the market because I rare use any technology myself.

I don't know how sports gambling works but yes stock market is extremely close to gambling. You could spend days researching a company and the stock still moves in the opposite direction for an unexplainable/unpredictable reason, this happens regularly. Although I guess if you actually spend days researching each trade you might make money on average, most people don't do that. But then that would be your full time job.

However, disregard what I said about the stock market being gambling if you invest long term in index funds. Those make you money safely and reliably except during a market crash.

That's why you generally should invest cautiously unless you're feeling lucky about a particular field/company. There are low risk, medium risk, and high risk investments. Higher the risk, the higher the reward. Lower the risk, higher the security, with less reward

I'm not sure how much of this is millennials and how much is every company having a human resources department now and said department always being filled with clueless over-30 women.

Did you pay back the loan from the vet?

seriously, did you have a network to tap into? how exactly did you do all that?

>Personality tests

Dear god don't get me started on those damn things.

I got rejected from a part time seasonal shelf stocking job at Toys R Us and a sales job at Sears because I "failed" it or some bullshit.

Who the fuck thinks those things are a good idea? All they do is add another 30 minutes to an already tedious online application process.

>baby boomers
>canayda

If you're not a retarded liar then what's the problem? Seems easy to me

The selection process for jobs today is fucking retarded.

>Make resume, upload resume
>apply for job
>Custom fit resume, research the company and write a custom letter to accompany
>Write an email to company and call up their office regularly to see how to application is going to show that I am eager
>Get through
>Get sent questionnaire
>Spend even more time researching company and their goals to custom fit the answers
>Get through
>Phone interview, ask retarded questions for 30 minutes
>Group interview, ask the same retarded questions except in a team/group context
>Paired interview with a HR team member
>Panel interview with the managers whom all I have learnt about their history and experience
>Get rejected because I couldn't answer one question with a definite.

I fucking hate my life.

I've worked a few really good jobs for over a yeah and a half and just left, too. if there are problems I cant tolerate (like endless fucking drama) I let my bosses know three time what's up and if nothing gets resolved by them or me, I bail out. if my work relationship isn't worth more than a paycheck, then I don't feel obligated to be cordial.

I found a job in less than 1 month of job search fresh out of education and with only an internship as job experience. All because I did make a list of all the businesses of my field of work, set up a good looking CV and portfolio and just kept emailing every single one of them asking for an interview/HR head to talk to.
Eventually I got calls back and I did interviews and got hired.

If you're out of a job it's because you're lazy, you probably just signed up to a job search web or some shit and expected businesses to look at your CV and cream their pants and hire you, but that's not happening unless you're like a CEO-tier person looking for CEO jobs. Anything lower and you have to promote yourself at any chance you get or you're FUCKING NOTHING.

>mfw i had to do a video CV for fuking minimum wageslave cleaning job

this HR meme has went too far

nah, you have to go full psychopath. manipulate everyone, spread rumors and create infighting and position yourself to get on top. have a plan to back stab everyone

blame feminism it doubled jobs demand and forced women who don't want to work into work

Somewhat. Some companies are very safe, like Walmart. But high risk companies are similar to gambling.

What the fuck is wrong with the world.

In all my jobs I've only ever had to go to one interview.

Some positions might open with a skype interview and then have one in person, but that's it.

>autism

Bonds are safe. Basically, you loan your money to the bank, and they pay it back with interest. You can also loan money to the government, and they'll pay it back with interest. The difference between a bond and a loan is you can only retrieve it after a set time. (Ex: 5 years)

If you have no clue what to do with your money, and you want to keep it safe, and you aren't going to spend it, invest in bonds.

Excaclty. I though magnets were a pretty good idea, so I put my money in there, even though I have no idea how they work.

This pic triggers me more than the nu-male one

>Be me
>Literally just find the email addresses for engineering/manufacturing companies and send them my CV

Employers aren't necessarily looking to hire someone. They're just hurting. Work keeps piling up, people are getting stressed out and then suddenly your qualifications show up in the inbox like manna from heaven. Why be the needle in the haystack when you can be the timely hero?

That still leaves the problem of the lack of entry level jobs with a steady progression.

In the 50s you could run a gas ststion and that was a respectable job that could pay for your house and car.

Now you'll get laughed at by retards who make a few thousand more in an office.

Once again thanks. Have you ever bought bonds before? I've read that developing countries produce higher yeilds but are riskier.

Was thinking Of trying to get some info on developing countrie on here and buy some of their bonds. Heard Namibia is growing steadily

This isn't true. Most US jobs that were middle class were machining and assembly plant jobs. Steel mills & what not.

Those jobs still pay well. The problem is if you aren't in a union, your job went to Mexico.

HR departments are ALWAYS the worst part of any company. They forget to give you documents, make mistakes on payroll, fuck up your tax documents...

I once had to walk into the owner's office and threaten to quit the same day (would have cost them easily a half million) if he didn't make right on it because HR wouldn't follow the fucking labour laws.

I tried. He refused and just wanted to talk. So I go down and talk to him once every few months instead. I realized that at the end of your life, you'd much rather have company than money. So I pay him in my time.

>2 weeks notice

Some places don't do this anymore, they want you gone right there on the spot if you plan to leave. It's to cover their asses just in case you decide to fuck shit up in those 2 weeks.

Be careful not to confuse eager with desperate. It ca come across either way and you have to be careful

Trips of Truth. Fuck HR, they make everything far more difficult than it needs to be.

I despise HR. I always wonder how they get hired in the first place

Excactly. Supply and demand.

Investing in countries is like investing in companies. A US bond will always be paid back. 100%. A Chinese bond? Maybe not. It's up to you to decide.

I invested $500 in a bond when I was little, and it profited me $50. I was never going to use the money until I was older, so that was a "free" $50

Technically, countries ARE corporations. Your Social Insurance Number is your employee number.

Actually, 75% of manufacturing jobs died out because of advancements in technology. The US is evolving past industry and into service, which is a lot trickier to navigate. Since our generation is tasked with breaking the ice, we have to figure out how this economy will work.

Have insider friends.
Thats pretty much it

>I always wonder how they get hired in the first place

company-wide gender quotas

HR is the only place you can put'em that they'll do the least damage

To be honest, companies benefit from not having you full time. Low wage workers tend to call off randomly. It's easier to dral with 8 part time employees than 4 full time ones. Part timers also aren't under any illusions that they'll receive hefty raises or will be promoted. I'm not saying it's a very ethical practice, far from it, but from a cold, corporate, divorced from the bleak reality of your fellow wagies, it makes sense and looks good on a spredsheet. Of course, this wouldn't be tolerated in a nu-fascist country. Instead what we're left with is a welfare state that promotes single motherhood over the nuclear family.

that is pretty cute user, you are a good person

Left at lunch time, ended up starting my own business for making films, websites etc main clients are lawyers and defence.

Being self employed is the way forward lads.

That is a huge problem here. The powers that be are fine with guys like you coming and taking our jobs. I occasionally hear Obama speak on putting America to work but nobody ever makes a big deal about training how to do various technologies or labor (maybe if you are a girl) or doing that free community college deal they talked about. Its like they know that the job market can't handle any more stress. Corporations also want cheap labor.

All a person can literally do besides make their own business is take part in College Lottery where you MIGHT impress someone to get a job for the low low price of 60K, or trade schools which also are a pain in the ass to get through because they don't advertise.

The other thing is, the 1960s ruined the image of corporate loyalty. Before then, you'd stick with a company your whole life. But in the 60s, companies started to lay off people right before they were a month or two before retirement. After that cultural phase, no one remained loyal to companies.

happy for u

Teach english in China. If you're white, you don't even need any experience or qualifications. The west has fallen. Also, I agree on the hiring process in the West, it's fucking retarded.
