Monthly reminder that communism actually worked in Yugoslavia until somebody decided do destroy it. (I am looking at you America)

Yugoslavia was still significantly poorer than western Europe. It worked but capitalism with good social welfare works better.

"Until someone decided to destroy it"

There's always some shit excuse for why it's failed

>Market socialism is communism

Still, a shame it doesn't exist anymore.

>its so good nobody went back to it after the conflict!
fuck off

and if you said anything bad about COMRADE TITO
or if your neighbor reported you for saying something bad about COMRADE TITO
off to the naked isle you go
fucking commies

Daily reminder there is literally nothing wrong with Communism.

Governance is a multiplayer game. If a strategy continually loses to other strategies then it isn't a good strategy.

I thought it broke up because regional party leaders accountable to Belgrade realized they could be head of state accountable to no one if they embraced nationalism.

The "Totally Not Greater Serbia" worked so well that a third of the population was unemployed and classified as "surplus workforce", resulting in one of three major emigration waves from the area, but you probably haven't even noticed that happening as you were far too busy taking over high ranking government positions and shitting on anyone who wasn't a Serb.
There's a reason everyone except you fuckers wanted out.

even though i agree with yugoslavia and communism being shit
you can't really compare 1990 and 2014

It was pretty good, but needed less oppression and more nationalism. Market socialism is the future either way.

Capitalism leads to a few very powerful people who carve out exceptions in the system for themselves. The distribution of wealth(not income) is very troubling as we move forward into an age where capitals value is becoming more important than labors value.

It was rotten. It was destructive and blew up catastrophically.

Kill self.

No. Tito died and it fell apart.

Why not, what has changed?
Currency inflation? That doesn't explain why a larger percentage of population was unemployed, lived below the poverty line, why the crime rates were higher etc.
And if you think ethnic tensions were the cause, then feel free to use earlier data. The further back you go the worse the numbers will get. Around 1975 the unemployment in Croatia was just under 40%.

>CIA taking down governments counts as it failing

Guess Syria and Libya just had failed forms of governments too.

Yugoslavia was a cobbled together nation of people's that had either been dominated by austo-hungry or the Ottomans in their immediate history.

It was a shame they didn't want to stay together in the post-Tito era, they could have made a beautiful multi religious, ethnic commonwealth within Europe, but you can't blame the CIA for this historic powder keg.

Foreign influences on its destruction were smaller than many think, and the true catalyst were internal class, religious, ethnic and racial(albozerg arent human) strife.

That's why they moved all the factories from Serbia to Slovenia and Croatia

>it works
>stupidly simple to subvert
doesn't work

>It worked so well

>dominated by austo-hungry
Nobody here views it that way. We had a far better life in AH or Habsburg then in Yugoslavia.

>a beautiful multi religious, ethnic commonwealth within Europe,
Yeah, that's working out great for Bosnia right now.
The multiculturalism is exactly what ultimately made if fall apart.

That was on Tito's initiative. The Serbian takeover started with his death in 1980.

Yugoslavia had a lower GDP per capita than Poland...

Dominated is perhaps the wrong word. What I meant was the clear division in culture between, in particular, the Croats and the Serbs - neighbours in terms of location, but culture influences from their 'ruling' empires exaggerating divisions.

...

This has always been the place.
Throughout history Croats have had very close relations with Hungary (and Italy in Dalmacija) while Serbs always clinged to their "big brother" Russia.
You can see that today even in the genetic makeup. Croats in Slavonija are genetically closer to Hungarians then Serbs, even tho we share almost identical language and culture with them.

the case*
Sorry, I've been up all night

Daily Reminder: All Commies Will Hang

>million gastarbeiters having to work abroad to survive their families
>14% unemployment
>only socialist state with monthly worker strikes
>mass inflation
>having to drive to Trieste and Austria for basic goods such as coffee

Total paradise, why you destroy everything America

doing good in a game isn't that relevant when the current rules are exclusively to your detriment and can be changed.

It was not real Communism

For me as an outside looking in, only knowing what I know about Yugoslavia from the various people from there that have moved to Australia over the years I've met, that perhaps if the right sort of political leaders had been in place at the time from all sides that could have worked together to have separate countries and identities but also had a common market, like a mini-EU.

Communism does work to a degree, otherwise the Soviet Union wouldn't exist. The real problem is that it fucking sucks and makes society pointless since nobody is really happy in it.

GET OUT OF SERBIA YOU COMMUNIST FILTH. NEVER TALK TO ME OR MY NEIGHBORS SON EVER AGAIN!

I'm sorry we didn't have a fuckload of oil on our lands that we could exploit.

it worked for serbia, stealing from croatia and slovenia is very profitable
kys poturica

odjebi patkice

To be perfectly honest Yugoslavia didn't stand a chance in the long term. Even if you ignore all the economic issues it was facing, you still had different ethnic groups which were all very nationalistic and had a VERY bloody history (see Jasenovac)
Tito was really the only thing keeping it all together, and as soon as he died all those issues started popping up again. The country existed in relative peace for almost 40 years, but just a decade after his death we were already killing each other.

I have a suspicion that communism will get more and more viable as IT technology and computing improves.

The problems with a centrally planed economy have always been lack on information and prediction capabilities to make the plan. Market prices and incentives have proven more effective. But sometimes I wonder if a planned economy can become viable with enough data and computing power.

Well there you have it. Communism doesn't work, it failed.

Don't point the finger elsewhere because your system sucked and we killed it, if anything, we helped you.

>if anything, we helped you.
Actually during the height of the cold war, you were one of the main things keeping the country afloat. We had massive investments coming from the US because your politicians wanted to win us over to the western block.

No it didn't

kys, 20th century was a mistake, especially everything after ww2

>fail miserably
>blame everyone but yourself
Is all of Europe, women?

Noooooo

I HATE THESE THREADS

REEEEEEEEEEeeeee

Counter-reminder that European democracy was similarly under siege by all the world powers of the day, and flourished despite this.

You own something?

Whoops sorry mate, just got nationalised.

>But sometimes I wonder if a planned economy can become viable with enough data and computing power.

>replacing your undetermined future with pre-programmed fate

...

>but capitalism with good social welfare works better.
