Aspiring cop here, you will see more action in big cities like Los Angeles or New York City, it's not like the movies or tv though. The downside of working for the NYPD or LAPD is that you will be living in the most expensive cities in the country and you're not compensated well. Big cities are expensive. I would recommend working in Texas, Florida, any republican state desu. I'm planning on working for the Casper police department in Wyoming. The cost of living in Wyoming is low, no state income tax, and you get paid about the same as a New Jersey cop, I live in New Jersey

Aspiring cop here as well.Also another downside on being in the city is that EVERYONE hates their job and they have insane turnover rates. I actually stopped my processing for a big dept to look at smaller ones when I was about 23. I'm currently in another process and am much more happy with this decision.

Correct but most bigger depts. want someone with a degree to fill certain positions. That being said the minimum might be an associates but what is someone with a 4 year wants to fill a position? I honestly cant see myself retiring and probably am gunna do the full 20 years if not just work until I die or they tell me to leave deal.

I could care less about power and authority. We have all the same benefits and are under the same pension as city police. In my state the sheriff's dept and state have a shitty pension compared to ours. Bitches love firefighters too. A firehouse is a frat house without the booze.

Hah. Well im a married man so that is past me. Although there is alot of fuckery that goes on. There are 145 firefighters on my department. 6 of them are women. All but 1 are slutty whores. We also run the ambulance service for the city, so there is interaction with nurses at the hospitals. You'd be surprised how many want to fuck you JUST because you are married. Mostly just to cause problems.

I was pretty pissed that I didn't look at other depts. since I have a degree so I put that on hold to get any shitty job that wasn't that one in the meantime.
