Actually i think the chinese will like him. Chinese love symbolic gestures. They hate the Clintons and Obamas with their super rational attitude towards everything.

The US has a big market, but that is being kept afloat by chinese money. So what would happen if that awesome symbiotic relationship breaks down? China will still be the world's most competetive nation, while the US has lost its artificial economic power. China will eventually rebounce, US will fall deep.
Also, a trade war might benefit the rust belt, but it will destroy the economy of California and the other west coast states, so be prepared for California leaving the Union.
