Of course not. Just like you wouldn't let a child run in and save his dog in a house fire, or get a ball in the middle of the street you can not, as an American citizen allow your fellow countryman to hurt themselves and in turn you. To put it bluntly, you (as a conservative) have been given the ability to see the outcome of actions based on facts and deduction, not emotion and wistfulness. That brings us to the point of conservatism. The desire to protect oneself from any incursion or idea that does not have the best interest of its host country in mind. To continue the ball in street metaphor, we can not let the liberal into the street to get the ball, as he may get hit. We have to protect those who are too ignorant to protect them selves, who can not see the danger of the outcome of the action they are performing. It is difficult to defend our position when one ideology is based on the best of human nature(liberalism) and the other the worst(conservatism). However in the interest of living safely and creating a safe country for our children and fellow countrymen, we have but no choice to resist the liberal onslaught, at every turn for it is inherently dangerous. Even if conservatism is to be considered fatally flawed, cold, uncaring, or is judged by history to be the most barbaric from of ideology. At least history will have this barbaric ideology to thank, for it granted a future. The past is always and will always be looked at through a different spectrum. We so like to judge our forefathers for bashing the skulls in of their rivals all while forgetting that without this act our very essence would not exist.
