Call it crazy but I think they're considering going for here next.
They tried it in the past and got about halfway, but to me the idea seems bad.....I just think they might attempt it.
I mean, you're more surrounded the closer you get.
meh noble but wasteful. i'd like to seem them shoring up the frontline in Hama and taking care of the West Ghouta pocket.

It felt the cold embrace of the ocean drowning out the vulgarities of war... Your foes are slain, your deeds are made, and the battle rages on. So hand off the banner and rest in the depths for your friends will not give up the cause. The sacrifice you made was to all of us gave, so let us remember the Su-33. Sleep war engine. Sleep.

Well breakfast /sg/, since order is being reestablished in Aleppo and the infrastructure is being repaired I find myself with two questions. 1. How exactly is the government maintaining order in areas? I assume through the use of National guard and militias, but what steps are being taken on the COIN side of things. 2. All this destruction means builders and supplies are needed, so how does it seem they are going to do that? How are they sourcing labour and materials, and are businesses involved or is this purely a government project?
1)for now there is a big enough military presence to keep order, but remember that most of aleppo is under Assad, so already have police and such to deal with it.
2)Eh there is a lot of foreign countries interested in getting involved in it, it's still a very open question
Lucas Cook
>1. How exactly is the government maintaining order in areas? I assume through the use of National guard and militias, but what steps are being taken on the COIN side of things. There's regular police force acting. Picrelated is new commander of Aleppo police, assumed office few days ago.

Pretty sure they looted shitton of them from the Syrian/Iraqi army when they were in active retreating phase.

What happens to the Isis held areas after ISIS is gone? It seems like Turkey and Kurds are fighting over the land. What Will Assad do?
Juan Hernandez
Yeah. This is main reason why we don't supply regular SAA with anything good, their stuff ends up in enemy hands too often.
>random syrian villager injured in arab barbarism >FSA militant

Can't have an insurgency without guns. SAA will surely disarm the entire non-loyalist population.
Remember, before the riots broke out, rebels had no access to military hardware. Only thing giving them courage to demonstrate was the fact that they had guns (given by le happy merchants).
Logan Walker
>potential insurgency You misunderstand the situation on the ground. Militants are not rebels, they are mercs. There hasn't been any real rebels for at least couple years now, just jihadists, mercs and conscripts. I'd be surprised if more than a couple dozen people from militants will stay in aleppo. And conscripts would like nothing better than for this war to end.

Losing su33 is not so bad as losing mig29. Su33 is old plane, it's quite equal to su27. It's don't have ground attack abilities ( I'm not 100% sure, may be it has modernization). mig29, that been lost is newer model with new avionics and variable thrust vector engines. > Yeah, around -5C here. That's not even cold.
> But look out for the tractor. Wasn't that the one that followed you last week, and we suspected of being KGB? I don't think that this is exactly that tractor.

So if Assad was able to take 60% of Aleppo in just a week then that would mean he has been taking roughly 8.5% a day.
Which means it'll take about another 4-5 days for the rest of Aleppo to fall if he keeps going with the same pace he's going now.
Adam Baker
They may hides guns, steal guns, or just use IEDs. On the topic of stealing guns all it would take is stabbing cops.
I know that actual rebels are an endangered species, "moderate rebels" are cryptids, and mercs have flimsy loyalty, but its the jihadists I am worried about. I don't see people willing to resort to suicide terrorism in the invasion of a foreign land ever actually giving up.
I mean by definition terrorists are few in number and willing to die for their memes so even a few can be a problem. Especially if they can seem like they are being effective as in that case others may travel to join them.
Austin Rogers
She is probably used to firing RPGs since she holds it like that.
