Another Sparta Thread

Many people here are probably always wondering about how it's best to do things. There is very little in the way of present day masculine examples. Celebrities do not count since no matter what they have tons of money, and are professional pretenders, no matter what they look like.

You look at someone like General "Mad Dog" Mattis and he has gone back to times of antiquity for his source and sample of masculinity because none can hardly be found in our present age. Same with General Patton. I think that men are starved for true masculinity. To emulate to strive towards because we want to feel like men, we don't want to feel like women.

In ancient Sparta, education was valuable but not as valuable as physical capability. Fighting, Athletics, Survival. It was not necessarily viewed as a pinnacle it was viewed as BASELINE. Private gyms were not allowed, and private training one on one was not allowed. Everyone was supposed to be trained to the same from scratch. Only after one graduated from the Agoge regimen completely (age 29) would private training be acceptable.

>according to Plutarch, long hair made the good-looking men more handsome and the ugly-looking men more terrifying – both of which had their psychological value in the Spartan army. And even beyond vanity, long hair had always been associated with freedom in Archaic Lakedaimonian circles – since many servile tasks couldn’t be achieved by keeping one’s hair long.

The difference between the military power of Sparta and for example, the military power of the USA. In the military your hair stays short, very short, for as long as you are in. That is to say that you are not free. You are a conscripted soldier and you re-enlist every 4 years.

Shifting hair styles in our lifetimes is probably one of the key indicators and factors to show that we are slaves. We cannot even control how we wear our hair as men because some of us are afraid of judgement.

If our bodies were fit and powerful, not just in a gym rat capacity, nobody would judge us on our hair.

>according to Plutarch, long hair made the good-looking men more handsome and the ugly-looking men more terrifying
no

bump

better than most of the shite on this board rn

Fun fact: Spartan men lived in barracks and visited their wives only for a few days in a year. Other days... there were a lot of butt fucking.

That's nice and all, but hair gets in the way of a good seal on a gas mask, takes extra time for grooming (which they could get away with due to the predictability of their battles) and is just another thing for the enemy to grab.

are you honestly implying spartan soldiers were more individualistic than the modern military?

Those are all myths, you know.

Sparta fact: some men Shared their wife with the more attractive mem

Implying homosexuality for men was not institutionalized in Sparta.

the enemy wasn't grabbing anything. Battles were fought with swords, spears, etc. Spartan's used their giant shields and nimble short swords to inflict fatal body damage. There was no hair grabbing.

Gas masks are only for gas based weaponry. In most infantry battles in present day there is very little use of gas based weaponry. The most deadly form of warfare is gorilla warfare.

Fist fighting is not indicative of battle. Fight fighting in public is for drunken idiots with no self control. Spartans never drank heavily and were always expected to act in a manner that exalted Sparta.

Now slaves "Helots" were encouraged to drink and dance, since they were slaves. They were mocked by the ruling class and spartans as examples of low beings. So if you are getting in fights in public like a dumb monkey, your opinion is of absolutely no value.

so explain why the spartans were favs and let their wives fuck other men. they were literally nu-male cucks

That's exactly what I'm saying. Spartans were the ruling class and the army simultaneously. They had the most legal rights outside of the two Noble Houses. Our military is made up of people who live in military quarters their whole lives, while Spartans owned private land, etc. Not saying military can't, but their usually mobile nature makes it a poor choice.

Spartans defended and lived for Sparta. Not the whole damn entire world. They didn't protect foreigners who lived outside of their boundaries.

I think this gay obsession is a homosexual's fantasies of masculinity and desire to prove somehow that the true peak of humanity involves fucking men. Which is absolutely ridiculous and stupid. Gay men are obnoxious, self-centered, egotistical and blind. Gays and liberals love to mock masculinity and say that the true source of men being badass is all about homo lust, it's a fucking jew tactic and dishonorable as hell.

so you're just going to deny a big part of Spartan culture then. They were gay pedo cucks. get over it.

so many asshurt ath*nians ITT

>Affectionate regard for boys of good character was permissible, but embracing themwas held to be disgraceful, on the ground that the affection was for the body and not for the mind. Any man against whom complaint was made of any disgraceful embracing was deprived of all civic rights for life. (Ancient Customs of the Spartans, 7. 237 - c.)

Bruce S Thornton, a professor of Classics at California State University, Fresno,
In the preface (p. xiii) of his book titled Eros:

>(The Myth of Ancient Greek Sexuality).
States in no uncertain terms that the Greeks "were horrified and disgusted by the idea of a male being anally penetrated by another male, and called such behavior 'against nature.' "

And how did the spartans justify their cuckoldry?

WE WUZ SPARTANS

>be sure to drink your ovaltine for your hair

Wtf man, that was an interesting thread and now you want to talk about faggy fancy follicles

Eat a boner

>says the turkroach
Find a source that isn't also balls-deep in the Persians.

baldlet detected

I believe the truth lies more in jewish professors and scholars spreading lies and myth about ancient greece, rome and egypt. Why wouldn't they? The Jews would absolutely hate Hellenic culture as it was Rome that ultimately destroyed Israel and Jerusalem once and for all.

So what piques my interest is that you are either a jew or a judaized socialist liberal with a desire to see western men and ideals as tainted with homosexuality or pederasty. Your vocabulary is rather antagonistic as well.

Please do not mistake gorillas for the Vietnamese, ok?

You like gladiator movies don't you Johnny?

OP needs to do some basic research. The Spartans were not the steroid-beefcake types shown in the movie, nor was something like that even possible in that day and age. If anything, the typical Spartan would have shown signs of poor childhood nutrition, and a whole host of other issues. That typical Spartan might not have even been able to pass a draft physical for the WWII US Army.

It was a different time, and the tales that have grown up around those people since are laughably off-base. The Spartans were raised on diets of stolen food, and kept "fit" by making them steal what they ate as teenagers, past a certain basic diet.

Sparta was, in a lot of ways, the North Korea of the Greek world. They were utter bastards, and totalitarians. The history of that nation should be an embarrassment to anyone who holds them up as some sort of example, and all the Spartan-worship out there these days ought to result in the people doing it being ostracized from decent society. It's no accident that many totalitarian regimes in the modern world have used the Spartans as templates, not the least of which were the Marxists.

Before holding some group up as paragons of virtue, it would be wise to first research their actual history. The Spartans were thieves who moved in on a decent community, enslaved them, and then exploited them with a set of laws and customs that would have embarrassed the Communist KGB. Which went on for generations, until the Thebans and Epaminondas freed the Helots and destroyed the Spartan hegemony. The Thebans are the ones who ought to be looked at as role models and exemplars, not the Spartans.
