>Apartments cost $700+ for a 1 bedroom >Only get to enjoy said apartment in the few hours between coming or going to work and sleeping. >Half of millennials age 18-34 still live at home with parents. Fuck this, I can't afford to move out either. Even if I could, rent would eat up 100% of my income, or I'd have to share a room. And I don't even live in a big city, I live in a city of only 62000 in Northern California. I'm 30 and still living with my parents, and at this rate, I will probably be living with my parents well into my 30's and maybe even when I'm 40.
America really does need to make housing more affordable. And that means changing many of our laws and getting rid of people. We could change zoning laws to allow taller buildings, shared bathrooms, kitchens, and living rooms, and smaller apartments. And hopefully Trump will get rid of the Mexicans and Chinese investors driving up housing costs.
why don't you get roomates? Also how much do you make a year?
Luke Diaz
People should buy houses when they are ready to start their own family. Live and help your family as long as possible until you are ready to start your own.
Thomas Jenkins
Get a roommate loser.
Daniel Wood
I make under $16,000 a year.
By moving out of my parent's house, I don't want to significantly lower my standard of living. That's what would happen if I had to share a bedroom and work longer hours. It would lower my standard of living and raise my stress.
I should have a choice if I want to share a bathroom, kitchen, and living room with others on the same floor if I want. I shouldn't be barred from doing so just because of building laws.
That's what the Russians did under Communism, they build these huge apartment buildings with small living areas and shared bathrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and heating. Many poor Americans would much rather take this over living with their parents, being homeless, or paying half their money in rent.
Samuel Allen
>$700 rent >eats up 100% of your income
You're exaggerating right?
Asher Jones
Get a second job you bum. Go make something of yourself.
Logan Gonzalez
When it comes to these threads about the cost of living in America, Americans are so quick to blame each other and point the finger at each other. Americans are like masochists trying to one up each other on how shitty their quality of life is and how little free time they have.
Jackson Green
Why not join military? (free housing) Or get a better job? Wtf pays that little
Nicholas Adams
Get the fuck over it. You have no power over the cost of housing, and government should have less to do with it.
Either go make enough to live comfortably, or kill yourself faggot
Easton Morales
How the fuck do you make that little especially in commiefornia? I doubt you're working full time. Even if you're making $10 an hour (min wage in cali) you should be making at least 20k a year before taxes and at 30 you should have gotten your shit together by now and have the capability to at least make like 40-50k.
Did you learn ANY marketable skills in the last 10+ years of your life?
Jaxson Martin
you're acting like you're owed housing or something? People are telling you to get a second job because you're making the same as a high school drop out that works 20 hours a week. Instead of getting butthurt you should heed their advice.
Robert Bennett
my rent is 350 pounds, have enough left for food bills and spends
just dropped 400 quid on a neo geo aes and 700 on a new gfx card
Nicholas Price
>400 quid
how much is that in pounds
Blake Harris
More importantly, how much in stone?
Lucas White
3.50lbs, depending on the bills used
Ryan Davis
Because your idea of how shitty it is makes you look like a whiny fucking retard. You have the options available to live within your means you just refuse to accept it because you want more and more and more. Just kill yourself commie nigger, you don't want to work for it.
Andrew Brooks
>tfw when i rent a house for 600 a month with good schools and no niggers
its only the millenial faggots in new york and LA that are bitching about this dumb shit
Brody Rivera
Housing is very far from a free market. Its just not a free market at all. There are severe building and zoning laws that control what houses are allowed to be built. There are severe laws that protect the tenants at the cost of the landlord. Housing prices have inflated tremendously in many places along the West Coast because of Chinese investment.
Something is wrong with the system when half of millenials are living with their parents, when so many people who want to move out cannot afford to.
Grayson Ramirez
>humans for all of history used to live with their parents >it takes until millennial faggots to get here tha this is a problem
Josiah Cook

Colton Clark
stop whining at get a job.
Caleb Martinez
If you have time to fucking complain about your shitty life online, you have time to get a second job.
You'll make better money then, and can put some of it away in order to move somewhere decent later. Or else, you'll simply have no time to worry about your shitty apartment, since you'll be too busy working or sleeping. Either way.
Noah Phillips
blame yourself then fix yourself faggot. you make 16k because you are shit. increase your income.
Sebastian Reed
If you are 30 and you live with your parents you're opinion doesn't count here kys and give them the life they deserve. A life without you.
Brody Evans
It's a combination of things famalam not just house prices. The COL adjusted average wage has been going down steadily for the past few decades.
60k jobs are almost as hard to come by as they were 15-20 years ago but the value of 60k has obviously gone down since then.
Wyatt Bennett
Then go buy all the real estate from the chinks and do what you want with it.
Oh wait, you can't because your a basement dwelling permafaggot
Samuel Garcia
I rent a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom 2,000 sq. foot house in Texas for $1,200. Completely gated, spacious yard with porch, laundry, and 1 car garage.

I live in on a major/trendy street/area in a fairly large city. I pay $800/month rent with all utlities included for a one-bedroom. I like with my girlfriend so that's $400 a month for rent and utilities. Fucking nothing.
Young people are just bad at managing money and good at complaining.

It's far high leafman. They don't count men who dropout of the job market entirely.
Gabriel Ward
I see you've got some nice stuff. Why don't you sell some of it?
You've got a computer with an internet connection. Possibly a television with netflix and cable. Possibly a gaming console. Did you think about how much those things would cost you per month?
Consider giving those things up. If you're watching television, jerking it to porn or gaming, you're not earning money. those things take time and cost money. You can get along fine without a home internet connection, netflix and movies, and television. A shitty Straight talk android phone and the local library's internet and you can still stay in touch with people you need to stay in touch with and conduct important business online.
Entertainment is not a right, it's a privilege, and most people haven't earned it.
Hudson Ward
then you get a housing market crash. without the money spent on housing being as high as it is it decreases gdp growth and bank revenue. this causes a contraction in the american economy and companies do hiring freezes and cut spending
which also decreases gdp growth so you end up with 2 waves of decline. the smarter route is to try to force companies to hire people and hope the extra cash flow generates more growth so that you dont need the chinks
Jayden Gutierrez
Commies get out
Jason Morales
You're complaining about $700 for a 1 bedroom apartment?
Wow OP, you're delusional. That's how much you get monthly in a 24 hour workweek at MINIMUM WAGE.
Tyler Carter
Why not give your parents $700 a month for rent? Is it common for you to request services without consideration of payment?
Chase Fisher
>30 minutes from work >$500 for 2 bedrooms >Some shitty mid sized brick building in a one horse town >comfy >no cops, just the sheriff
The worst situation I've been in where my options were shit was when I was living with my parents without a job. That's about it. And yet I see people who voluntarily go to NYC and then bitch about the apartments over there. If your job is that great, so great that you're willing to move to NYC, then surely it will pay you a living wage. But it doesn't, because there's nothing special about you. You were just a chump who managed to travel over there.
Mason Hernandez
Where I live all I see are bimmers, audi's, mercedes, porsche, lexus, etc and most of the people who drive them are under 40 with many in their 20's. I see so many FB posts of people my age talking about how they aspire to own one of these cars (most of them right out of college and not even close to being wealthy).
Most young people just wanna act flashy with their money and spend it on fun shit so they're content with living with their parents if it means they drive a 3 series LOL.
Levi Baker
i have a 3 bed 2 bath 2 car garage house in midwest white suburbia for only 680/mth. dont live in shitty cities.
Brayden Wood

Crashes are normal. We need a housing market crash, and I hope one comes under Trump.
Economic crashes are what allows new players to enter the game. A stock market crash allows new investors to invest money, and a housing market crash allows new people to afford housing who wouldn't be able to afford one pre-crash.
Asher Gomez

Tyler Murphy
wait. Lodi? as minimum wage and wage in general goes up, so does the cost of living. with $10 as minimum, you can expect a higher cost of living
Camden Lewis
>make housing more affordable Nope. That's not the problem. Try again.
Brody Rogers
Assuming you're working full-time (40 hours a weak) at minimum wage ($9.00 USD) you'd be making around $360/week. That's $1440 for four weeks or almost a month of work before taxes. That's enough to to pay rent and feed yourself for a month, but not much else. If you only make enough to scrape by and your job prospects aren't offering you much room to save money or make more then be prepared to get trapped renting for a long time. Personally, I know people who'll probably be renting for the rest of their lives. I don't know how the housing market is in your state, but to my knowledge affordable housing is plentiful. Build a line a credit, take out a mortgage on a property and live in it instead of forking over $700 to the landlord. Take into consideration what sort of expenses you'll need to cover. Best case scenario you have enough space to rent to someone and live in the property which will ease the burden on yourself.
Isaac Diaz
Buy a van for 1.5k live out of that.
Nicholas Ross
It's fucking ridiculous how expensive houses are in the DC area. 400k gets you a shitty 1940's era house in the ghetto. 600k is bare minimum to be in a nice middle class neighborhood. The affluent neighborhoods are full of 700k-1M houses on tiny lots that are 40+ years old.
Shits impossible to afford as a single person even if you're making decent salary and save every penny. You need multiple six figure incomes just to live in a middle class neighborhood with decent schools.
Jackson Powell
$500 rent $70 internet $30 phone $60-80 electric $150 student loan payments $235 car payment $100 gas/month $95 insurance $200 food $300 savings $200 pocket money
GET. ANOTHER. JOB. YOU FUCKING BUMS
Blake Thompson
You don't get the right to live in the heart of a major world hub as your first residence unless you've made it with money to afford that.
MOVE SOMEWHERE YOU CAN FUCKING AFFORD. America has some of the cheapest housing and homes in the world.
It makes my fucking blood boil gen y and gen z cunts who complain they can't afford to live in the heart of Sydney, Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, California.
These are financial hubs of the fucking world, you have no right to demand cheap housing from one of these locations. Your parents couldn't afford it so why the fuck do you think you should?
This fucking entitled attitude of this generation. yes I mad.
I own several properties an hour of Sydney, which have doubled in the last 10 years. If people stopped fucking whinging about their first property and investing they could afford in their dream location by now.
I could afford to live in Sydney in a shitty million dollar house easily. But why? When I can get 2 properties for that exact same price with little variation in rent doubling my instant return investment.
James Butler
I should have faked a disability claim when I was young
Colton Lee
So you can work part time on min wage and still get by. How the fuck is that bad?
Noah Rodriguez
The housing and rental industry is just a big scam so you can go pay some old boomer or young homosexual's mortgage. It's the new age of slavery at it's finest.
The boomers in the old days rented for very little. Their parents were not profiting much at all off of them. The boomers on the other hand are becoming millionaires easily off of rental properties.
The best thing you can do if you are a lower wage worker is find serious people to throw down on a deed or rental responsibilities.
Don't put up with bullshit, you will find leeches who just want a free ride, make sure you run your house like boss.
I'd say find an actual house to rent and split it up between 4 or 5 people to pay. I know, it sucks but look it's either you learn to live together and save money or pay the big $600+ per month just as the base rental cost.
Asher Perry
Your parents are almost dead and you're about to inherit the house, take a knee and run out the clock.
Ayden Cook
>(You)
Jason Baker
Yes I live in Lodi. The Stockton-Lodi housing market has become the fifth hottest housing market in the nation. I don't know why, there's not much to do or see here. I think Chinese investors are moving inland and trying to take over the Central Valley.
Moving out of my parent's house would result in me having very little free time, going on food stamps, eating crappy food, and not having any money to save or go on vacation with. I'm not willing to deal with the stress of sharing a room with a stranger again.
Tyler Carter
Buy some shitty house in Kentucky for $400, befriend the injuns, and ride off into the moonset, Silver Horse.

Here is another good one.
Find 3 or 4 women. Get them all to live with you.
Get them all to have your kids.
You and one other one works... they get welfare.
You and the other girl pay for the maintenance of the house and transportation.
The other 2 or 3 women take care of the kids.
The girls take turns working, on and off.
Ryan Harris
Non existent in Australia unless you sell the property to cash out straight away on their death.
Inheritance tax in europe and the u.s is the biggest fucking scam in history. Pay tax entire life on everything earnt. Guess what? Someone else can pay that tax again!
Matthew Brooks
It's not too bad in the U.S. but it's there.
Sadly, my parents divorced and remarried so i won't be seeing that half million dollars likely.
Wyatt Lopez
Min wage is 10 bux tho? Can't you get on welfare?
At the age of 30 how are you not able to get a higher paying job? There are plenty of unskilled jobs that pay 15-20 an hour. It's not uncommon to exceed 30k a year as a waiter.
Jace Garcia
What state?
Adam Lewis
Only works if you're Chad
Hudson Myers
hello op. fellow northern californian here. A word of advice to you.
get a job.
I work 40 hrs a week making 2g a month paying 500/mo rent. 25% of income going to rent is really not that bad. Not even sure if I'll stay in my current place which is fine because lease is up in 6 months anyhow. I'll have a better deal worked out by then as I am already in the process of searching. As one should always be. Always searching for new higher paying jobs too. That doesn't keep me from showing up to work every morning. Come on bro. Go outside. Live your life. t. 21 year old

Land is pretty cheap bruv. Since I go to school and work my mom pays half my rent, of course I give her all my paychecks and work 30 hours per week. I plan to get a good job in the computer science field, save up and buy land, then I'll ask for my Grandpa's help building a house because he's built several before, then I can work remotely. I think it will only take half a decade to save up for it if I get a good job. But wew lad, this is fucking hard to deal with, school is so hard dude.
Joshua Johnson

Orlando metro is pretty cheap. Norfolk-Virginia Beach metro as well. I live in Winter Park about 15 minutes from downtown Orlando and pay $750
Michael Ramirez
There is nothing wrong with living with your parents if you are contributing to the household and planning to take it over.
It's dead beats that need to a length of rope
But yeah housing prices are artificially inflated because nobody wants to take a loss. The bank figures they own the property and they are never going to take a loss on the property they own so even if the market plummets the banks will never sell these assets for less than what they bought them for.
As for apartments, those are based on relative housing prices. Example neighborhood with 75-150k dollar homes rent is typically 450-700, however places where homes are 400k-1.5 million rents is about 1.8k- 3.2k
In short it's the fucking jews fault again
Jeremiah Myers
chill its not real dirt and dust its intentional to give it a nice authentic look
Michael Sullivan
Get rid of property taxes. Why should I have to pay money to own property? Makes owning a home, not owning at all. Its renting.
>much roads, police, fire, & schools
How does one respond to this?
Cameron Reed
that's what you get for living in such a shit state. I make barely more than your minimum wage yet I can afford a 1,500 sq ft 3 bedroom 2 bathroom with a garage apartment

Fug. You MIGHT make 70k starting as a junior engineer in a nuclear plant, but that's in Maple leaf dollars alongside high cost of living and a dollar with 75% that of the USD.
Canada is shit!

>Get trade job >Move the fuck out of Commiefornia (No matter where prices will be inflated to all hell)
With that it sits around 10~% but this includes >Those who drop out >People too sick to work >People incapable of working due to disability Surprisingly not many people on the whole aren't working. 10% is rather workable and low. When you get into the 15+% that's when you worry.
Current issue is severe underemployment.
