According to every site that comes up after googling "smartest dogs" they all say the top 5 are Border Collie, Poodle, German shepherd, Golden retriever and Doberman

People get excited about "smart" dogs but don't realize it's not too important and can be an issue in the long run with satisfying needs. Knowing the breeds origin is important and better prepared an owner. Huskies are smart but they're a spitz breed, and stubborn as hell.

I have met exactly two dogs in my entire life I didn't like and it can be blamed entirely on the owners, if I wasn't a nearly destitute mess of a human being I'd probably have one.

I've got a wheaten terrier mixed with at least one much larger breed. Got her from an animal shelter 10 years ago, she used to be hyper as fuck but she's mellowed out a lot in old age. Only barks when she wants to be let inside and when the doorbell rings, and is super friendly to everyone. Used to jump 6 feet high to try and lick new people's faces.

Yeah my dog got in a fight with a fucking skunk once and won even after being sprayed, the house still stank for a month afterwards though.

My best guess as to what she is besides a wheaten terrier is maybe part golden lab, she's about twice the size of a purebred wheaten and has straighter hair. Pictures I've seen online look pretty similar to her.

Jac Russell chihuahua mix. Best friend I've ever had. It was a bumpy ride at first, first 2 years he was vicious and would bite the heck out of people. After a lot of work I could finally let kids play with him.

This one time my wheaten terrier got into a fight with my neigbours 2 rottweilers. I was scared as fuck but in 20 seconds those 2 rotweilers were on the ground while my wheaten terrier dominated them. I did not know what I saw. They can go total beast mode when necessary
