I had an idea last night. We have this valiant safety effort, and now we have a hashtag: #saferspaces. What if some anons with video production experience made a PSA video on this issue? We could start a kickstarter, and maybe contact the families of those lost in the ghost ship fire to give testimony about their loved ones and the necessity of proper fire safety. We could register a 501(c)3 organization, and try to give this effort widespread support, organize people to speak to the (((media))) etc. Remember that there can be no direct political involvement to keep 501(c)3 status, so we'd have to keep the focus on safety. Also, since the places are usually dark, aside from the laser lights and glow sticks, all of this seedy shit on these girls is either ignored or goes unnoticed. And yes, you'll find them making out and being taken advantage of.
It's sickening. It's also the reason why real raves were shut down because some underaged girl either dies, is going through cardiac arrest from molly, or their parents show up and sue everyone.

Remember to check hipster hangouts in your area. Used record stores, weird coffee shops, funky restaurants, hostels, and various "spaces." These places need to meet a lot more stringent inspection regimes, and should have commercial general liability insurance policies.
Insurance should especially be a strong lever. Insurers can compel their insureds to make changes on a much shorter timeframe than code enforcement usually does (or they'll drop their coverage).
Remember, this is all in the name of safety. Don't cause problems if they're not safety risks. Even if you don't like the people, bear in mind that firefighters are people too.
