>What exactly did this man do wrong? 1)He was a Bolshevik 2)He was a Caucasian gangster Bad combination.
>It seems to me that his murders are overblown They are.
> and his economy did better than it did under those both before and after him The time after him was far more prosperous, though it's not exactly a fair comparison, considering he presided over post-Civil War recovery, industrialization, War and post-War recovery.
Basically he was a logical product of his time. Some kind of right-wing reaction after each revolution is inevitable, in USSR it took the form of Stalinism.

>The syrian people held an election where there was an overwhelming support for president Assad
Damn, that election must have been free

Stalin's methods were questionable, but they were nowhere near as bad as some people claim them to be. Most of the myths about le evul Stalinist era are spread by (((russian liberals))) who are still mad they were GULag'd in 1937.
Also, almost any family in Russia can name you a relative they had lost during the Great Patriotic War, but no one will be able to find a victim of his so-called "purges".

stalin didnt follow through with lenins vision
he instead resorted to a standard tactic of thinning the heard to try to make things work. people all over the planet have resorted to it at some point
he is only special in that he has the second highest kill count in history through his station in life. he gave the orders
Oliver Ramirez

Extremely intelligent man, but completely lacked any sympathy for others and saw them as objects. Most people would describe that as psychopathy.
That's not the kind of person you want to trust with millions of lives. And look what happened.

He did use harsh methods. He was in a prison camp himself before coming to power. He lived on the run, he robbed banks. He was a revolutionary. Whatever you may think of his ideas you hae to respect his success. He turned the Soviet Union from wooden ploughs to nuclear warheads, basically third world to superpower.
No idea actually.
>inb4 "muh real communism"

My mom is actually Ukrainian (lived most of her live in Chernigov), with her father coming from Krivoy Rog and mother from Kiev. She doesn't remember anyone in her family trying to "survive" during the Soviet era. The only relative her family has lost was her great-grandmother who had been shot by Germans for helping partisans during the occupation of Ukraine.
