I have a friend who made himself wealthy back in the early days of online poker. He then became a professional poker player and focused on investing when he had a lot of cash.

He reckons there's very little money to be made in online poker now and whilst it's possible it's a tremendous grind and the only games he plays online now are limit one on one with high blinds.

From my experience what he says about online poker is true. The player pool is smaller, players are better, because they have access to so much good practice material, rake is bigger, sites have fewer investors.. It's certainly possible - and actually not too difficult - to make a living off online poker, but it just isn't the fast lane to riches like it used to be. I just hope that the US finally change their online gambling regulations and make running poker sites legal again, so we can go back to having one massive, global player pool.
