Obama Care

What's Sup Forums's take on Obama Care?

Was it a good idea gutted by Republicans? Was it designed to fail so we could move to single payer?

Did it help more, hurt more or do nothing for Americans?

What are Trump & the Republican Congress going to do about the issue?

You can see that more people are insured with obamacare according to the statistics.
It's not good enough, however. Single-payer is definitely the way to go

Obama himself stated that Obamacare is absolute shit and it is supposed to be shit.
He flat out said so himself.

The goal of Obamacare is to force the next president and the politicians of the future to fix it, because it will be impossible to get rid of it. You will not be able to simply throw Obamacare in the trash, you have to replace it with something or people will riot.

Obama is a complete retard, but for what it's worth this is a good plan if you're in favor of socialism.
Because of Obama USA is always going to have socialized healthcare.
Anyone who says that Obamacare is good is a retard. Not even Obama thinks it's good.

I don't think single payer will ever be accepted.

If we don't replace it with single payer, what's another option?

Mandates you buy insurance for crap you don't need like birth control and mental health care

I LOVE INSURANCE COMPANIES RIPPING ME OFF

I LOVE TRUMPCARE

>If we don't replace it with single payer, what's another option?

How about a public option, something Hillary wanted and Trump opposes?

It was a terrible idea

Your health is frequently a product of your choices

Forcing everyone else to pay for your health obviously results in some terrible shit

if you don't have insurance then how are they ripping your off?

Being insured is a choice

Medical care prices are too high because they are insured to get paid

>How about a public option
great one more thing we need to subsidized to hide the real cost of this turd

I'M A DUMB STUPID FAGGOT

PLEASE RAPE MY FACE

I dont want government healthcare

Why do people think single payer would be a good thing? If its being paid by health insurance companies that are trying to make a profit are being overcharged, why would a government with unlimited money and known for being wasteful be more efficient at spending money?

>actually reading Vox
What's it like to know that you've literally labelled and advertised yourself as an idiot?

>government makes purchase of health insurance mandatory
>government inflates insurance costs
>government fines people to poor to afford insurance
without the government who will build hospitals, checkmate non-statists.

What dont you get about the medical industry charging a price for their goods/services that is way too high regardless of who pays it? Either you fuck the people through government with the inefficiently paid bill or you fuck the people slightly less with their own bills.

Based Dr Doom

Allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines will drop insurance premiums and give access to more people.

Having an extra layer of bureaucracy which does little of value and primarily exists to enrich itself always going to be more inefficient.

at least part of it is live saving medical services will be given to people who cannot pay. 3 bags of blood and other ER supplies need to be paid by someone.

Because people are retards. They truly believe getting the government involved will somehow make something cheaper when it's the exact opposite for everything else.

It's a taxation on health.

>Gov't to reinsurance companies: "We are forcing you to take on everyone, including sick people. Also, you can't charge them more even if they have a chronic and expensive condition. You also need to include maternity and drug rehab coverage, no matter what the age or sex of the person."
>Gov't to healthy citizens: "Sign up for this expensive program that you don't need, or pay the penalty."

No matter how you spin it, you can't insure the uninsurable without increasing rates for everyone else. If you have cancer but no insurance, you're basically a charity case. Everyone else has to pay more for your cancer. There is no way to eliminate this effect.

Insurance shouldn't be a choice because society ends up paying for retards in some form or another. The best option for dealing with them is to get them in the system earlier so we can squeeze more out of them before they die. People with pre existing conditions shouldn't be grandfathered in, but future people should be automatically enrolled.
